The 90s, you say? Hhmm... for me there's really only one.
And since I must relate this to Solas, how about this song?

Spoiler

It's almost as if I'm tied to the tracks
And I'm waiting for him
To rescue me
The funny thing is
He's not going to come
He's not going to find me

And now that I think about it, a perfect Lavellan song:
Spoiler

Tragic Kingdom is one of my favorite breakup albums. A few songs aren't, but it mostly is on the whole.

It's mostly Fenris and mainly the position of the hands and the way his head looks. Just reminds me of a laid out corpse or something.

Maybe I'm weird. <_<

No I see what you mean about Fenris. It doesn't help that he looks gray. Solas and Zevran however look good.

No Capricorn, they're dead.

So Zevran died with an open mouth smile on his face then? :P

Zevran fared the best. :P

Solas looks pretty good too. Fenris is all washed out and gray and the hands...

No Capricorn, they're dead.

It's like those beautiful post-death portraits that used to be taken back at the turn of the century.

So...Solas is dead y'all and Lavellan took a lovely picture to honor him.  The picture was placed in a lovely gilded frame that stood on her mantlepiece.  It went into the attic after she died. It wasn't found again until her great grand-daughter was cleaning out her house for a yard sale.  She looked at the picture, wiping dust off the glass with her thumb.  "hrm..." she thought. "who do you think this was?"  once again, the memory of fen'harel was lost to time.

I googled that and now I'm officially creeped out.

When I saw this scene in the theater I got one of those chills down the back of the neck that I thought only happened in books.

Yeah, they are a bit odd. I think some of them are really lovely though -- in that melancholy way. The person was loved.  One last portrait. I mean it's just like a death mask. Those things have been around forever.

I dunno. It's just death.  It happens to the best of us. And by the best of us, I mean everybody. Death rituals are fascinating though.

I love that movie. The trailer makes it out to be more horror than the suspense it actually is.

The marketing was off, I agree. I love it too. I saw it once on my own and then took a  friend.

This photography is used to great effect in the Alejandro Amenábar film "The Others" which starred Nicole Kidman… Creepy as hell.

Oh! Ninjed!

Sounds like something Bunquiz would do. Make portraits of dead people and hang them on her wall.

I love death masks. Life masks, too. There are so many faces that would be lost to us without them. Of course it would have been easy enough to alter or even fake these masks entirely, but the legitimate ones.... Our vision of many historical figures has been distorted by the stylized renditions of them in portraits and sculpture. It's kind of amazing to be able to reclaim their genuine appearances. Here's a really interesting example with the Marquis de Lafayette:  (x) his life mask, and (x) a very stylized portrait.

I didn't know about death masks. These are awesome.

I'm fascinated with death rituals and cultural things around the world. Everyone treats and reacts differently. It's just fascinates me.

I have a stupid question: how did you guys get the DAI icon to be displayed below your avatar? It didn't get automatically updated for me. I tried logging into to game again a few days ago. Connected to the Keep properly. Nothing. I'm always logged into Origin. There is nothing on my BSN page that allows me to manually add games anymore.

I bought in through the Origin store.

Someone posted this on the Soltrash tumblr I follow.

I like the idea of Sera finding out that Solas is Fen’Harel so everytime they’re in a party together she says “Who brought ****** Moon Moon along?”

They all just suddenly appeared one day. I think some people are missing games. For example, mine has ME1 but some are missing that.

Mine just magically appeared one day.  I am annoyed that I am missing the ME icon.

I have no idea how I have any icons under my avatar. I only linked DAI to this account. The other two... *shrugs*

I actually get quite emo about death displays in museums.  Like...those people believed and wanted to be buried in that temple/tomb/grave forever and that it was important. Now their remains are behind some glass that some kid is smearing yogurt on.  It's so...undignified.  I get that it's necessary because the museums protect the artifacts, but still. It makes me sad nevertheless.

Frankly, I was surprised that Solas doesn't get all up in arms as the Inquisitor is running around smashing graves and old artifacts.

Since we're talking about icons? What is the freaking tower thing with the red around it? KOTOR, maybe?

Death portraits are fascinating. A snapshot of the time, the place, and the way of life.  What I always found creepy is the Victorian hair wreathes...
