I recreated Solas and my Lavellan in The Sims 4 and I thought their first interactions together were cute.
Man, it took forever for Solas and my Lavellan to kiss. All they wanted to do was play chess and cards together, the NERDS ![]()

Vengeance is mine, Solas!

My Qunari Inquisitor is a giant warrior. That alone would intimidate a thin ancient elf who prefers intellectualism. In the last conversation I heard between Solas and the Iron Bull, the latter rebuked Solas' high-minded belief that everyone should have the freedom to pursue their own careers. Iron Bull wins that argument because in a world like that people will get chewed up faster because it lacks the protection and resources to support them.
I think you're making a huge mistake in your first two lines. Part of the point is Solas is more than what he seems. Even Iron Bull slyly implies that he's probably hiding something. Not only is he regarded as a god, even without that, he's clearly a powerful mage regardless, and a Rift Mage, at that. A specialization that is so rare and noted as dangerous that it drives many of those who attempt to learn that technique insane. Whether or not a powerful mage is his default/true self is up for debate, but he's not going to be intimidated by large qunari.
Especially when he thinks of them as essentially mental slaves.

Seriously, a "giant warrior" build doesn't mean that much when the "thin ancient elf who prefers intellectualism" can twist the fabric of reality itself to rain firestorms on people or smash them with giant stonefists. ![]()

From the fic writing files: Trying to write butt grabbing that doesn't sound utterly ridiculous is hard.
I didn't feel that Bull won that argument. You being convinced is cool but I wasn't. I typically felt like Solas debated more effectively than everyone but that's likely because I tended to agree with him. I did however side with Varric on the Cole decisionThe exact nature of Solas' origin is not important so much as his current behaviour with the rest of the Inquisition. What he knows or doesn't know doesn't excuse the fact that he's keeping his own knowledge from them. We know that dwarves are the only ones besides Formari who can handle lyrium and enchant items. However the ancient elves did it, they must have had some relation with the ancient dwarves, so Solas must know something of what they were like. His incessant questions towards Varric hides his own knowledge of what exactly has been lost. If he's simply coping with his own personal grief he should know better than to transfer it on Varric.

Yup. Pretty much. They played a LOT of chess. And cards with Josie and my smarmy Sith Inquisitor from SW:TOR. Josie was the first sim other than my Lavellan whom Solas befriended, which I thought was adorable.
Oh, and now that I think about it, they also took a LOT of selfies. Which I never do, so that amused and baffled me.

Sorry, I happen to think that Sola's origin, like that of anyone else, plays a key part in defining him.
There is no obligation on anyone to share knowledge, let alone Solas, who approached the inquisition of his own free will and offered them considerable help in exchange for... Very little. if you disagree, I would suggest you set out your reasons, I really don't understand how you've latched onto this. Further, some knowledge can be extremely dangerous especially if the culture concerned is not prepared for it or has devised new ways of doing things (think Star Trek's prime directive, think about what happens to indigenous tribes when they are exposed too abruptly and in the wrong way to a culture far in advanced of theirs, it ain't pretty).

I really don't think being physically intimidating is going to affect how Solas reacts to someone in an argument. In fact, trying to play that card in a fight with him would likely result in a Solas Greatly Disapproves and a sarcastic remark. Just check out the way Solas reacts to a an Inquisitor who does try violence to win against him for evidence. Bull's size isn't likely to scare Solas either. Solas is a rift mage with a strong connection to the Fade and spirits. He's more likely to scare Bull. Despite Bull having a more liberal view of magic than other Qunari (he let Dalish join the Chargers despite her being an unharrowed mage archer, and can hook up with Dorian the Tevinter necromancer) spirits, demons and the Fade still freak him out.

Solas is intimidated by very little. IB even recognizes this and notes that Solas is more than he seems. Everyone actually recognizes he's very powerful an makes a point to comment on it, and he's not even at full strength. I doubt, even for a second, Solas was ever afraid of bull. Regarding the argument: IB didn't win that argument. Noone did. It was a discussion. You either agree with Solas or you agree with Bull.
I tend to agree with Solas. While the Qun - as a philosophy - is very nice, in practice it's horrifying. What they do to their mages is monstrous, they have re-educators(feel free to google the real world equivalent), they brainwash their population into thinking that death is preferable to living outside the Qun. So.... promoting suicide! A+ work Qun!
Solas also recognizes that while total freedom isn't without its issues, people still have the right to lead the life they choose. Like he said, even the poorest servant can take comfort in their thoughts and dreams. The Qun takes even that from them.
The Qun is just a shitty version of the caste system. It is known.
You'd think it would somehow make sense, being a simple move, but, ughh.
