This is lovely! And no, your art is not crap! People have probably said this waaay better than me, but it takes a lot of courage to get back into drawing after all those things your parents have said to you about art, and for that I am proud of you. Just continue doing what you love and if drawing is what makes you happy then to heck with all those people trying to tear you down!

 

I honestly don't understand this sort of thing. Genuine criticism that actually takes the time to try and be helpful is something different than that. It's hard to go through depression and not feel creative but I hope you continue drawing and doing what you love as you work on this, for yourself if no one else. You're the one living your life and things can get a lot better. Let me say I've been living on and off with anxiety almost my whole life and sometimes periods of depression and you have to be there for yourself even if/when others aren't. Do continue drawing. I looked at your art and went 'awww'. It really is sweet.

 

Sometimes people just want to be jerks to one another (I just looked at the "Spiders? thread and someone with a phobia (I have a spider phobia too) was asking for help and most people were kind and then a few people started posting spider gifs and a huge picture of the Nightmare....real helpful, folks. ) and I don't understand that, personally.

 

 

 

I think that getting back into drawing (or writing, for that matter) after a period of inactivity is one of the hardest and bravest things you can do. So just the fact that you want to: that is something you can trust, and certainly something you can trust over the opinions of your friends and family. I like to think that perplexing your parents is part of being an artist, and ideally you just find a way to take a little bit of joy from it (easier said than done, sometimes).

 

Anyway, this forum lurker likes your drawing. Solidarity, here.

 

Also, HoboSolas is real, and it means that everything could be real.

 

Don't listen to these shenanigans, you do you, and you draw whatever pleases you in whatever ways it pleases you.

Drawing should be fun most and foremost, don't let anyone put you down gratuitously. Criticism can be nice, only if done in the right way. If criticism leads to someone feeling so shitty they can't draw again, then it wasn't criticism, it was just being a huge asshole.

 

Keep going, it looks promising!

 

Nothing at all wrong with that art. Even if something WAS wrong with it, how is anyone to get better without practicing? You think all the writers and artists working at BioWare got to where they were without a lot of practice and plenty of crap left behind? Pfft.

 

Anyone that wants to tell you what you are doing wrong is welcome to give you suggestions and solutions. Otherwise they are just tearing you down to build themselves up, and that says way more about them than it does you. Do your art and be happy. They can have their misery and keep it to themselves.

Came in too late to help but Ena, that art is great! Don't let anyone discourage you. If it is something you enjoy, then to hell with everyone else! I had a bad few years where I stopped drawing (had some bad depression). One day, a fellow artist inspired me to pick oils for the first time and I had forgotten just how happy it makes me to work on art. Seriously, fan art give me life! I need to see all of the styles; I don't care if it's the same freaking Fen'Harel with the dreads image over and over again. I must see it all!

 

Ok. I'm feeling good. Got a new car yesterday and I am being a creep. I keep petting it going "You're so pretteh." LOL

I...can't say I haven't thought about it. I ignore it though...since....who cares DRAMA! He's just so freaking sad.  There's a line with Dagna that talks about how he's just really polite, quiet, and sits there. She's says it's really depressing.  I need him to have one nice thing. Twenty bucks WoT2 comes out and he's had the most atrocious family life on top of his garbage dump of an existance.  So I dove head long into that dumpster a long time ago - protect my rocky candy husbando.

 

Also bonus points - to whoever is writing that creepo stalker fic with him/inquisitor/cullen and the commenters talking about how he deserves to be beaten down like a dog. A++++ day for him.

Sable has a thing that's really good and has some cool modern-ish elements to it that she should share if she feels comfortable! 

 

I have literally nothing beyond a roughly sketched out series of ideas about how I could incorporate cyberpunk into Dragon Age. 

 

Are we talking about the Shadowrun AU?  Or the horrible wish fulfillment Fen'Harel AU?  And don't worry, I'm still in the spiral, just flopping about in the shallows like a drunken Magikarp 

 

TBH I dunno about Shadowrun.  I'd love to write it, but it would be a long-form fic, and I'd be playing a bit fast-and-loose with the lore from both DA and Shadowrun to make it work.  And unless I've got it all plotted out and outlined ahead of time, I have a nasty track record of getting bored or burned out or distracted in the midst of long-form fics, so I basically stopped writing them.  I would hate to do that to you guys as readers.
