Well,  I looked.

 

It wasn't as bad as I've seen it.

 

Personally, I don't see where the ace!Solas idea comes from and I'd think you'd have to ignore a lot of what he says to make it work (and it reminds me too much of people saying that Leliana/Josie/Bela/Bull/Merrill/Zev/Fenris/Anders are gay or straight because in their playthrough they never heard any dialouge to indicate they're bi) but... *shrugs*.

 

This debate stems from the fact that Patrick Weekes left it up to the player to decide whether or not Solas/ Lavellan slept together (yup). Personally, I agree that they definitely had some sexy times, but I get why some people might interpret their relationship differently.

 

But anyway...Hello, Solas thread. It's been a while...

We know where it came from, but it just keeps popping up over and over. Leaving whether they had sex open to interpretation is fine. All of it is fine. But whether someone has sex or not doesn't preclude sexual desire from existing. But I didn't want to drag this back over here. Everyone....interpret however you want, as long as it all stays civil.

I haven't forgotten! But my ceramic paint's all weird and lumpy, it turns out, so I have to restock. Though I suspect these will be more like... vague wolfish monsters which only people in the know will recognize as Solas-related (mostly because ceramic paint is a total cow and it's hard to render details). I'll find a way to foist one off on you, when I finally get around to it.

Ah yes! I know that artist. She's the one who draws artwork of Solas and her friend's Lavellan, Tala, whom I've personally dubbed as the "third Tala" (after mine and RogueBait's Lavellan ). I do enjoy looking at her works too and sort of recently followed her on Tumblr. (Her Samson/OC stuff's pretty hot.)

Oh, is that the one the Tala War was declared against?

I never did the midnight release parties but I always had the preorders coming Saturday morning. Definitely engaged in theorycrafting, which was super fun, though I did also guess things. Still, those were fun times. With DA I avoided a lot of spoilers but I have and did a lot of theorycrafting within ASOIAF groups.

 

DAI sent me riiiiight back into DA lore stuff hard though. Part of it thanks to the layers of Solas, but not merely that.

OUT OF NO WHERE COMES A RANDOM. I'm working on some fan art now, actually... though I thought I'd ask here. The Dread Wolf... is it widely believed, then, that it's a 6 eyed beast? I know the statues are of the regular two eyed variety, but the tarot and murals are different.

Hihi! *hugs* Can't wait to see your art! I believe the Dread Wolf is just a name they gave him because it was his favorite form to shift into (much like Morrigan and Flemeth have favorite shifts). Maybe the murals and art were meant to make him seem menacing 'cause he was written down in history as the God of Deception when in actuality, he's the 'God' of Rebellion.

Except that doesn't leave his sexuality up for debate.  Just the issue of the frick-frack snick-snak.  After people reacted badly to playersexuality (and whether that was an actual thing is still up for debate.  The devs have given conflicting comments that it was either playersexuality or everyone (except Seb) is bisexual) I doubt BW would ever go that route again.  Ace!fans deserve to have a character they can actually call their own, not someone who can be interpreted as ace if you really, really try.

That sweater is so full of holes, it practically counts as a tear in the veil (working in my love of beat up sweaters, here).

And oh yes, I decided that Cole would have an un-ironic Miffy fixation, with a Miffy backpack, and maybe a Miffy pencil case, etc. 

 

It was way too fun. I want to do this with every single character, however minor, who has ever made an appearance in DA. It pained me to leave anyone out.

The way I read it, this is exactly what she said. So you two do not even disagree. She did not say his sexuality (as in orientation) was left open for debate, but only if he engaged in sexual intercourse with Lavellan.

 

If he could or could not be interpreted as ace, I have absolutely no idea because I have no clue what still classifies as ace and what doesn't.

 

But in general I don't understand why this is an issue though. Why do people debate it so heatedly? Why can't just everybody think whatever s/he likes?
