Most of the spiders here are small too, but we do get black widows and those things really scare me, not only because they just look so evil, but because they are very poisonous.

I think that is common anywhere that's tropical enough. My dad is from Puerto Rico and down there, the huge flying roaches are ridiculously scary. We get big ones here too on occasion and they cause me so much anxiety, especially since I live alone and have to do something about them myself. Let's just say I swear a lot when doing so.

 

In games, if I can mod them somehow, I will, but DAI was like....nope, if you want to play, you'll have to figure out how to deal this time. And so I did, but I still don't watch the Nightmare sequence.

Oh...cockroaches  *shivers*  When I was a baby, we lived in Texas. While I don't remember, my mother tells me stories about the giant roaches that infested our house.

 

My ex and I lived in a small house in Oklahoma that was infested as well...those were fun times...

Oh, very nice. I dislike the whole 'wolf & halla' thing in how most people tend to use it, but that is pretty.

That sequence in the film was like 5 minutes of me averting my eyes.

 

I *like* spiders, and the animated spiders in Hobbit/Lord of the Rings grossed me out tremendously.  I think it's the barnacle-like things on their exoskeletons.  It makes them look all diseased.  Ewww.

From a biological standpoint, I have a certain respect for cockroaches.  Evolution dealt them a damn good hand.  Doesn't make them any less disgusting, though.

I wouldn't say my fear of spiders qualifies as a phobia, but I do fear them, and we get all sorts where I live. I live outside city limits, the "country", and the wildlife out here is extensive. We have black widows, (a lot of) brown recluses, super big tarantulas, and a variety of other spiders. I actually think tarantulas are cute, and I like wolf spiders, but the others...nuh uh. A few years back I had to go to the ER because of what we realized was a brown recluse bite. Not cool, and I shan't detail what it entailed, but I have an ugly scar on my knee from it. That cemented my fear of them. But when it comes to games (or television or books), I don't really mind the spiders in them. Some that are just ugly or gruesome as hell will make my skin crawl, but I'm not exactly afraid of them.

It's not that I'm a fan of spiders, not really, it's just that I know most of the times, these tiny creatures can't do harm, and are quite useful to catch stuff that are actually MORE annoying to me. Like flies or frigging mosquitoes. So I'm more than happy when I see one nesting on my ceiling, and usually give it a name & talk to it. Until it disappears and makes me start wondering if I ate it during my sleep.

I love daddy-long-legs because I think they look cute and awkward at the same time. I picture their bodies super tiny, with kawaï eyes and super long legs they barely know how to handle, just like a newborn giraffe.

 

Also, some spiders are really cute. And fluffy.

LOL, actually, that Tala is the same Tala that the-zombie-cat draws in her artworks so no, the Talas are not multiplying (yet). That Tala (aka the third Tala) actually belongs to this person. (Not that I've been digging around DeviantArt or anything... I'm just curious.   )

 

And yes, I'm a bit tired of the whole 'wolf and halla' thing too.

Mine is definitely a phobia. I get the full anxiety response and have had panic attacks over it. Once or twice, but the rarer those are, the better.

 

From that same gallery. I need to calm the knot from the current conversation. It's kind of been a weirdly anxious day for me so far, for no reason.....so, the best kind.

If I lived in Australia, or some other place where the spiders are the size of horses, I would be a lot more afraid of them. But Irish spiders are pathetic and meet death at the paws of my Yorkshire terriers.

Look, I admitted earlier in the thread there was a small one in the corner of my apartment just chilling in its web and it's been there for a little while. I am not cruel just....phobic. Plus if it's visible in the web, it's not crawling on my pillow.
