yes, i too am going to be stoic and indifferent when the dlc comes out
because sincere enjoyment of things is uncool
I'm going to cry a goddamn lake and love every second of it

My Lavellan when Solas comes back:

I actually really want to see that written up. *v* Does that count as a prompt?
Bugger the rest of you (in the nicest way possible), I'm going to be unashamedly squeeling my damn panties off if/when reunion happens!
BABOU. YOU REMEMBERED
... what sarcasm is?
So, I have a question. How much does Solas disapprove if you make Cole more human? I really don't want his disapproval to be down too much since I'm romancing him.
Not much. Solas' approval is actually really easy to get. Be compassionate, be logical.
You'll bounce back if you pretty much play that way. The big disapproval are actually keeping the Wardens and drinking from the Well.

IIRC that's one of the few times where he doesn't disapprove. At least there was no "Solas Disapproves" prompt on my screen.
I made Cole a human and exiled the Wardens instead of disbanding them, and Solas was still fine with me. I just went and activated a few elven artifacts and we were cool again.
Then I discovered I kind of liked Cole as a spirit more. Oh well.
Okay, thank you. Might go spirit since I haven't done that path yet.
I love, love, LOVE spirit!Cole. He reminds me a bit of Legion in ME2, or Justice back in Awakening. He's still a person, he's just a different sort of person than what we're used to, and that makes him fascinating to me as a character. He becomes sort of a guardian angel of compassion to my Lavellan when she's at her lowest (THANKS SOLAS
), and I love that friendship.
Especially since his post-game dialogue makes it clear that he could go back to the Fade now, and he chooses not to. Not while the Inquisition still needs him ![]()
Hello there:) I am new to this thread cause I needed some support after the whole Solas romance and break up lol
Thought i was the only one who felt absolutely heartbroken, amazed that a game character can make so many people feel so deeply.
I literally feel like my heart has just been broken, my boyfriend thinks I am being crazy till I showed him this forum.
How do you guys survive? lol should have stayed with Cullen and looked the other way when Solas took me to the fade
You Solasmancers are awesome by the way, thanks.
We're got another one!
Welcome. We're all in our various stages. I'm going on like month 4 at this point myself, though art, humor and silliness and sometimes actual lore discussions and theories, and prompts, and smut get me and others through.
I don't know how you can stand to be a human in a 2nd playthrough.
When I play I can't stop myself from rolling elf for RP and Solas reasons. You can last all those hours with Solas regarding your Inquisitor as just friends? That's painful! And hearing his voice all the time? And romancing Cullen/Blackwall/Iron Bull/Sera? Bleh!
Okay I'll stop xD I just can't stay away from Solas even when I hate him.
When it came time to make my mage, I was so sure this would be my displaced human Circle mage, siding with Templars, romancing Cullen.....and then I made her an elf at the last moment.
Because reasons. Elfy reasons.
I've finally reached a position where I'm not a permanent resident in Hellspiralville. I'm still cavernously invested in Solas' character. My words fail to convey how much I adore Solas alone, and how brilliantly written he is. The romance, of course, is also still incredibly important to me, but, as sappy romantic as I am, I'm far more attached to Solas than I am the romance. But even that doesn't continually drown me in feels. My love for him and the story is alive and well, but it's not claiming my full and undivided attention anymore. I have other obsessions, and as vain as this sound, my own characters and stories to get invested in. However, I won't deny that, when the story is continued, the hellspiral might drag me by metaphorical ankles into a state of emotional wreckage again. Time shall tell.
This is mostly how I am now, though the hellspiral does take me sometimes, but his character is just such a great one. I think he's one of BioWare's best, and that goes beyond the romance, even though I'm invested in that, whatever happens.
On a funny related note, I'm listening to a song that's kind of a perfect hellspiral song.
Human Cole is cute, and there are valid reasons for making him human, but I definitely like the personality of Spirit Cole more. Solas seems to have more interactions with Spirit Cole as well, but this could be because I get almost no banter this run through of the game, for whatever reason.
I just feel like spirit Cole is his true nature and what he's meant to be, so I don't think I'd want to take the human decision with him. The spirit option leaves him kind of light and happy and free. He continues to stay and help because he wants to. Though his final cutscene is a bit bittersweet, but I still think he's more himself like this.
I realized that I forgot to reply to this:

Welcome!
Sit down and have some frilly cakes!

How do I survive? Well, basically, I hang around here and talk with people, share some artworks I find on Tumblr, reblog some Solas/Solavellan stuff on Tumblr, look at artworks on DeviantArt, or I sometimes draw some of the Solas/Solavellan stuff myself. Not to mention there's some smut (heh!) and fanfiction to keep me busy for the time being. ![]()

I'm really curious. You mean that even if Solas returns and the romance can continue, some of you would actually not follow the story to see the outcome?
Knowing BioWare, it's going to be an "illusion of choice" where the story plays out roughtly regardless of whether you get back together or not. It'll just affect the flavor and/or emotional "feels" of the story.
I've considered doing Solas' romance, but I won't if it ends in tragedy.
Unfortunately, the romance ends with Solas breaking up with you, regardless past decisions you made, if that's what you mean.

Yeah, I made Cole more human, kept the Wardens, and drank from the Well, and his love/approval never dropped enough to seriously hurt our relationship. (Much to my surprise, but utter delight.)
It helps that I took him EVERYWHERE from the moment we met, and pretty much everything else I said and did earned approval. Be kind, be wise, be intelligent and open-minded about the Fade, be good to mages and elves and spirits, ask questions, tell jokes when it's appropriate (he loves to laugh), etc. You'll do fine. =)
I've gotta check out spirit!Cole on my new main Lavellan. The only reason I made him become more human on my first playthrough was because I felt like he needed to assimilate in a human-dominated world for survival. Plus, the way Varric taught him to be more human was really poignant but I still wanna see the alternative.
Also I finished a new piece. I'm really proud of how it turned out 'cause I actually took the time to fill in the details
It's another Solavellan DA AU set in Feudal China with young Solas (looks way nicer in hi-res—click here pls).
Edit: The Chinese calligraphy says "wo de xin" which translates to "ma vhenan" in Mandarin ![]()
By the way, I was having a little fun with this site to check how old Solas looks. I used a bunch of screenshots and as it turns out, he apparently looks around 30 to late 40s, depending on the lighting and angle. ![]()
I used it on myself and apparently, I look 13. ![]()

I don't know why this is making me laugh so much.
I tried this site on a corgi earlier and it couldn't detect any faces.

While we're on the subject, if we ever get that Solas-related DLC and/or our Lavellans can reunite with him, my reaction would be...
Outside:

Haven't decided on my Lavellan's reaction. It really depends on how they meet, in what circumstances. I wish I knew. ![]()

Can I just say that I love this artwork? ![]()
Now that I'm home, I just put in a few pictures of me and that site gave me a range from 17 to 48 (?). Highly accurate, clearly.
Though I guess it sort of pegged the range they were attempting for Solas? -ish.
