What's hellspiraling? I tried to Google but Solas/Lavellan fanartists showed up and then I tried to urban dictionary google it but this thread showed up LOL Is it being sad?

I think maybe Sable was the first around here to use the term?  In my understanding it means to think something sad, which then leads to a bunch more sad thoughts until you are nothing but angst in the whirpool of broken dreams and ruined lives.

edit: this reminds me of how i reacted when he broke up w/ lavellan. just when i was starting to get excited about locking him in, i was like "WHAT WHAT WHAT *gross crying*" ...the person who recommended him to me is sadistic.

It really does make a lot of sense to look at the Solas romance as Solas being the one doing the romancing, not the player.  I have more thoughts on this but I'm too tired to write them up now.

Yeah, it does. At first, I was confused as to why I couldn't do certain things but I like this way more and this person explains it so well. It's a nice change. Sad...but nice.

It's not mine originally; I'm not clever enough to come up with a word that so succinctly describes fandom angst   I don't remember where I got the term from.  Might have been elsewhere on the BSN, or through Internet osmosis.

Solas is definitely the one in control of things, because he's the one who hesitates and asks for time and then comes back and tried to leave until she pulls him back. So yeah, the fact it's out of the player's control (other than dumping him), that, as the post illustrates, does make it hurt even more when he finally decides to give himself into it and then pulls back immediately. That open-ended nature of things, that is worse.

 

That was still the worst achievement timing ever. BELOVED AND PRECIOUS
