Well it's interesting because to me, that means it's going to come back later as "a thing".  It's not important enough for the keep because it's romance specific, but it's important in that it will get brought up for the romance. 

 

I am curious what kind of dialog there will be. I really hope if you do keep it, it's not a lot of whining about "YOU LEFT ME BECAUSE OF MA UGGO FACE TATTOOS" because that's not how me or my lavellan interpreted that at all.  I would like it to be an opportunity to challenge him about changing culture and meaning.  HEAVY PHILOSOPHICAL DISCUSSIONS, YO!

 

 

Sadly, I feel like this might be one of those things left to headcanon. Or that maybe the Cole/Solas/Lavellan post-breakup banter might be left as the only exploration of her feelings on the matter. One additional thing about Solas being written critpath first and romance second. Even the relatively few reactions possible if you choose to remove the vallaslin were a bit slight. Though ugh, Sera.  There's only the Cole banter if you keep it, so even less there.

 

(side note: Do not wait until nearly 6pm to eat your first real food. I can think again. )

I love the vallaslin on my current character, so she's going to keep it, slave markings be damned. Especially since I have now learned I can't subsequently pop them back on once Solas is gone. There goes my plan.

My mage will keep hers. She's kind of like opposite day Lavellan, to a large degree.

 

She'll keep hers, she'll drink, she'll go side with the templars, etc.

I would agree, except I decided to make my Mythal tree tattoo lyrium blue. >>;

 

(Partly to make it look like Fenris, since I headcanon that she got her vallaslin shortly after he became famous and she wanted to symbolically honor past elven heroes; partly in symbolic defiance of the Templars. "Ha ha! I'm a mage and I have heathen tattoos of lyrium blue, and there's nothing you can do to stop me!)

 

Fenris would greatly disapprove.

I never liked it on my main/rogue, so I used the simplified Mythal design and made them kind of light green. Visible but not very prominent. Mage is brown with gray eyes, so I fine tuned the vallaslin (Ghilan'ain's) to be a lighter blue when I tweaked her skin tone a bit darker. This time highly visible, very prominent, and will be staying in place.

I prefer the vallaslins gone on my Lavellan. They are all ugly. Poor Male Lavellan doesn't get that option...

 

Kinda have to agree with you there. I only find the Mythal vallaslin version that I used on my Lavellans (the one only covering the cheeks) okay, and even then, I had to tweak its color to match the hair color so that it wouldn't be too noticeable.

Face tattoos are not really a part of my personal aesthetics, which is a shame, because I love playing Dalish characters.

I think June would rather redesign the vallaslins to better enhance the facial features. Just so they would look better standing at the altars before being sacrificed to the gods.

I don't think your elf's reason would matter to Fenris. My point was that he would disapprove of it. Headcannon's have nothing to do with it.

His story probably gets distorted.  Just like quizzy's or Hawke's, or the Warden's.  You'll never know the truth of another person's thoughts, motivations, or legacy unless you meet them in person and get to know them.  And in Fenris and quizzy's case, that's unlikely.

No, but I would be if there was more content in his romance.  Due to the lack of content having just this one scene that is entirely unique to romance is important.  It's Solas trying to be completely honest with Lavellan, and when that fails he gives her the greatest gift he can give - knowledge and freedom.  Whether it's the freedom from what the vallaslin meant or the freedom to see what they once represented but know that doesn't matter isn't important.  Whatever choice is made Solas loves her for and respects completely.

Which would be the closest quizzy can get to the truth, yes.  Even firsthand accounts still have elements of bias and distortion to them; Cass's opinion of Hawke shifts over the course of DA2 during Varric's retelling, but it's still a story, and Varric's hardly a disinterested party.

 

Might be the last thing on her mind, though, considering all the world ending wibbly wobbly magister problems

So? Fenris disapproves of everything that doesn't immediately benefit him. Disapproves of Hawke risking him/herself to help others but is just fine with Hawke risking him/herself to help him. Disapproves of helping mages pursue freedom despite fleeing slavery himself. His own moral compass is pretty askew, so he can settle.

 

 

I didn't think I'd have to include it before because I was just sharing "Hey, this is why my character picked such a neon color for her face-tattoos." Then got jumped on.

 

Now I know y'all are going to jump on it no matter what I say, so I'm not sharing it. In fact, I'm out of here. Good day.
