Same. Yes. Lovers share special things. But I don't see how such a big cultural truth should be held special only for a romanced Lavellan. There could have been something else. I don't know what, I'm not the writer. But it could have been something else. Again this romance was written in a weekend. It's amazing that in such a short amount of time it was so affecting, but it was still written and implemented in a very short amount of time. That may have been something that I would argue was not given a great amount of thought.
Also, me stating this, does not take away from the fact that it was a very lovely and emotional scene. It is. It is. But it could have been emotional and lovely for all Lavellans.
I think a lot of our arguments about this (although I dislike using that word because this is a very pleasnt debate) comes from whether or not your view this reveal as being nessessary. What Solas is revealing is not the most pleasnt thing. It's not something a lot of Dalish are going to want to hear (*insert WHAT UP NERDS image here*). The markings now mean freedom. Despite the fact that every clan is different they have this one thing in common. Solas tells his girlfriend because it's important to him that the woman he loves has the choice to choose whether or not she keeps the vallaslin. A friend doesn't get this for many reasons. Solas may not feel comfortable telling them something that so utterly destorys everything they've been raised to believe. It may just simply be because Solas doesn't care about them as much.
