I think the repercussions of whatever Solas does are going to carry over in the next game. I'm kind of hoping we'll have a full scale elven rebellion, because there are some signs that seem to point to that.

Then again, I'm also hoping that maybe Bioware decides to flesh out the world of the dwarves some more first, and maybe takes us to see how the qunari actually live, instead of having us rely on hearsay and heated opinions.

Not gonna lie, this has me worried. I'm really "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhh......." when it comes to the treatment of mages and it's bad enough that they have a martyr already (who also happens to be a terrorist). Having another martyr-terrorist who is also an elf is really redundant. Plus why? Why make such powerful and influential people who are part of oppressed groups look so bad—mages have been the antagonist in every single game when I feel like the real antagonists are the oppressors like the Chantry and the Seekers. As much as I love Bioware, their wishy-washiness with oppressed groups makes me headdesk.

I don't even want it to be DLC but people keep speculating as if it will be. He's such an important character and, I agree with one of the comments—his story arc is way too integral to the main plot to be packed into a 15hr expansion. But idk.

Unrelated: Anders being a martyr really, really annoys me.  I wanted SO BADLY to be able to tell him 'I'm going to fight for mage freedom for the rest of my life and I'm going to make sure no-one remembers you as a hero.'

(sorry, Cee)

I also want to see this. Like really, really bad. It's about time it happened, especially because of the rebellion. Both elves and mages up in arms together would really be something. If done well, it could be a really good mirror of real events happening today.

I just don't get why people like those werid piercing things.  On a warrior they seem as impratical as a long braid.

You have no idea how much I wanted the option to let Seb do it.  Or just hand him over to the families of everyone killed by the explosion.

If Anders hadn't been cut from DAI I would've kept him alive.  I want the option to try him at Skyhold.

Is Anders martyr for the mages, though? Many of the mages didn't approve of what he did and were angry with him form giving people even more reason to fear them. I'm not sure many do think of him as a hero.

Yeah I stand by what I said about him before—I really hate Anders. The manipulative, possessive fartface can rot in the Deep Roads for all I care. I just hope Solas doesn't get written in the same direction where they flip the switch on him and he's suddenly a misguided villain doing cruel things with good intentions :\

I just think it's still strange that a fairly large scale rebellion occurred at Halamshiral shortly before you go to the Winter Palace and nothing is actually mentioned about it in game, so there's a possibility it's all going to boil away into nothing. Solas is as likely a figurehead for a full scale revolt as any, if something ever came of it. Basically, Bioware needs to make city elves a conceivable origin again, or at least not sort of stuff them in a corner like they've done with... basically everything that isn't a Dalish elf or human noble.

Ha, well Anders is not a martyr in my world. He's a fugitive. :P

I acknowledge that an Andersmance play just adds to the feeling of everything being screwed up. And sometimes people just desperately want to help, even though it can feel, in the back of your mind, like a losing battle. I also found it kind of interesting that you have the option to basically say 'screw all of this, I'm going on the run with you'. I play rogues all the time but that truly felt like a 'rogue' decision, especially in light of all the consequences.

I also don't like piercings.  Or tattoos.  Which is odd, since I always go for the biggest and most obvious vallaslin and casteless brand.

I honestly don't think they'd give us a second Anders.  Not this soon after DA2.

He's alive in one of my worldstates (the aggressive m!Hawke pro mage worldstate I've been talking about here).  I'm killing Hawke in that one because he's a dick.

EDIT: And also because Anders is a dick. :P

They really could've mentioned more about this. When you read The Masked Empire and realize what the hell had JUST happened, it makes it even more glaring.  There was a lot in there that I hope is woven into future game content.

He's a fugitive in mine too. Though I left Hawke in the Fade, so I'm half expecting to hear news of him losing his s***  and causing mayhem somewhere down the line. My bad.

Yeah, I couldn't do that. Sorry, Stroud, you had a fab mustache.  Then again, Weisshaupt also goes silent. BioWare, why do you torture us so?

I like to headcanon that Leliana, Josie, and Viv sat my Lavellan down for a crash course of Orlesian current events so she wouldn't make an ass of herself at the ball.  It's how I justify using some of the knowledge that I got as a player from Masked Empire, when my character wouldn't have witnessed those events herself.  So she knows what happened in general strokes, though she doesn't know any of the motivations of the major characters.

Same.  I felt a lot worse for him and my nutty Hawke than I expected to.

People can make terrible life choices and do horrible things, but they're still people at the end of the day.  They still hurt and feel and dream and love.  And that's why I love playing the Anders romance to its bitter trainwreck end.

It's interesting that people have gravitated toward the Anders romance out of wanting to help him. My Hawke's version of helping him was to rival him the whole game through her insistence that he was possessed and couldn't control Justice the way he thought. Best analogy I can come up with is an alcoholic who knows they get out of hand sometimes but still don't think they have a "problem." She thought it would be best for Anders to acknowledge that there was a problem and that it was worse than he thought. And then, once he made that realization, the two of them could start at rock bottom and work their way toward fixing things. She wanted to be his friend, but his refusal to acknowledge just how bad things were caused a lot of tension.

And then, of course, Anders doesn't get to the point of admitting he has a problem until after he blows up the chantry.

I have no real point here. Just musing.

Same. I have to say this trainwreck romance of his has been a very infuriating, but at the same time, interesting ride. *sigh*

It was the game that made me go read The Masked Empire, so coming from that perspective, it was just not addressed very well in terms of the rebellion. And news would've gotten out. I think they did a better job of getting Cole's story and origins and some of the events of Asunder into the game (now that I've finally also read that) than the Halamshiral background. Though man, I really wish more of the war table missions were more like the Sutherland line. Going out to find and help Rhys & Evangeline would've been so good.

I think I'm already expecting most, if not all, of my canon romances to have no happy ending at this point... :(

Same. Though I seem to always gravitate toward the most story-relevant romance without trying. And often, this seems to mean sadness.
