Not everyone has played JOH yet

Ir abelas, I wasn't sure if it was too spoilery, went back and tagged it anyway.

This is awesome! But now we need one for Dread Wolf! :)

Already got one;

Thedas history examined, detailing recent events and discoveries, whilst others lie faded...

Okay, I'll stop with the backronyms

:D

Puttering in DA thoughts, instead of working. Feel free to ignore.

This is going to be messy (and late, since I have no doubt the convo has proceeded on to new things). Too many things to quote, so instead I will do a simple list.

1) Mythal's orb - I am in agreement that the name from the datamining probably has no real bearing on whose orb it is. I do believe it is Solas' orb. HOWEVER (playing with ideas here...), I could also imagine it having been Mythal's orb at one time. Possibly even a case of her orb, that he procured after she was murdered. Perhaps she even suggested that he take it, prognosticating something would happen to her in the near future (i.e. when she was still alive, and in her original form - of course). The main reason I wonder about that, has mostly to do with how he was unable to open his own orb. Mythal was most likely much more powerful than Fen'Harel ever was, and even though his slumber weakened him, it still seems odd to me, that he wasn't able to unlock his own orb. Maybe that is normal - coming out of Uthenera - and only due to his being "woken" up, did he NEED to open it quicker than he was able to "recharge" himself....or whatever it is ancient elves need to do after waking from Uthenera. Bah! Just floating thoughts here, nothing more.

2) Dwarves! - Two things just for the moment. One, regarding the connection to demons - thank you Caddius and laurel (and anyone else who added to this, and I forgot who did) for bringing up your examples! That is excellent, and continues to feed my curiosity about dwarves. The second thing I wanted to bring up was regarding the Primeval Thaig. Am I remembering things incorrectly? Caddius brought up the fact that there was no Darkspawn in the Thaig proper. The only thing I keep trying to remember though, is the room with the multiple traps, that you get stuck in. Wasn't that an Ogre who was in there, or was it a Golem? And, was that room before or AFTER they found the idol? I honestly cannot remember.

3) How Cory Got Orb! - I suspect that this is on top of everyone's list of wanting to know how/why this happened. The little bit we know - he supposedly gave Cory the orb, Solas was too weak to open the orb, Solas didn't know that Cory was planning to use it in some bizarre ritual to breach the fade and enter the black city. We have theorized that Cory may have sought out the orb, and that is what woke Solas. Cory, possibly wearing the GW meat suit (Larius/Janeka), convinces Solas that he can open the orb. If something like this did happen, then questions like what sort of reason did Solas give for needing it open? Why did he believe that this GW could open it? Why would he trust said GW to simply open it and be on his merry??? And those are just a few questions that might come to ones mind.

Another theory is that he may have given Cory the orb before his last trip into slumber land. Cory being released by Hawke and the GW's that lead Hawke to the prison, may have been what awoke Solas. As an interesting aside, Malvernis is "released" by way of an "orb". Something found in the top portion of the prison. Not saying that has anything to do with Solas' orb, but it is still interesting......(well, to me at least. lol!).

It does seem to be that neither Solas or Corypheus recognized each other, in person (at least in the beginning). Once the orb was revealed by Corypheus during the final parts of the attack on Haven, then Solas would have known for sure who he was. Now it is possible that Solas always knew who he was (considering he was conveniently near Haven and the Conclave, when the world went to "hell in a handbasket"), but it might also be that he is/was able to sort of 'track' the orb by some means or manner. And in doing so, it led him to Haven. Honestly, I can see either being the case.

Merely musing on different possibilities, and looking forward to having some answers to many questions.....eventually. *And yes! Please add more dwarven lore. kthnxbye* B)

This is a really long thread so I haven't gone and looked around for anyone else with this... can't call it a theory, more of an observation.

Fen'Haral locked the gods of good and evil away to end the war between them that would end the universe if it continued.  Dr. Who time locked the Timelords and Daleks away to end the war between them that would end the universe if it continued.

Coincidence??? Yeah, probably.

I love m!Hawke.  Especially purple m!Hawke; Nicholas Boulton must have had so much fun recording some of those lines.  They just burst with trollish glee.  But I do agree that f!Hawke needs more love..

I dislike m!Hawke for the same reason I dislike dude!Shep.  I spent all of my childhood playing as men in video games (and being a Nintendo person I didn't even get Tomb Raider) so finding a game that let me play as a female character was a huge thing.  The fact that most of the games I play today give me a choice whether I play as a man or a woman would've blown my 10 year old self's mind.  So now I play as a female character whenever I get the chance, and I'll only play as a male character if there's content I can't access any other way.  So playing as m!Hawke never even crossed my mind and while I'd like the option to romance Jack or Tali in ME I do have Liara as f!Shepard and she's the only LI I really want.  Dragon Age Inquisition is actually the first game where I'm planning on having two male characters (Cadash for Cass and Lavellan for Dorian).

Oh gosh. I don't want that. I saw where it goes. It really worked out splendidly.

If they walk that road they will end up with the orb never having been destroyed  Solas never having locked the gods away  Thedas never having existed in the first place.

I do have have the latest TR game, and I've enjoyed what I've played of it.  But growing up all I had was Samus Aran and I didn't even know she was a woman.

Siha, what are you talking about?  Doctor Who has no plot holes and never contridicts itself and all the plots always make sense and -

wow, I cannot finish that with a straight face.

(I've been a Doctor Who fan since I born.  I'm allowed to mock it)

Oh no, I am sorry, I never meant to point out any inconsistencies. I mean, really, breaking the first rule of the fight club ("You never cross your own timeline") and negating the very reason for your sort of existence (as well as half of all events that happened in your life) in the same breath isn't a plot hole. It's.... say, were you aware that Oasis's (What's the Story) Morning Glory is already 20 years old?!

At least that episode was funny.

That's why these guys are hired to take care of any plotholes you think you might have noticed...

Spoiler

(Despite the fandom's complaints episodes aren't long enough, Doctor Who is actually an hour long, they just can't recall about 15 minutes of it)

He's lying next to the tree.  You can see his staff and his legs.

The Hanged Man piece has a MC filter, you should probably say that so people without a DA account are forwarned about the blank screen.

Dwarves aren't connected to the fade. Lyrium is connected to the fade. Templars feel like dwarves to Cole. Lyrium is alive. The simplest fit seemed, to me, that lyrium could be the dwarves' lost connected to the fade and magic. Dwarves even "return to the stone" when they die instead of the fade. Justice hears the song of lyrium. Dwarves hear the song of the stone. It's like their fade, but stuck in the ground and being consumed by everyone because "ooh magic." How that would work with the new profane/mage theories I don't know (or how it fits in with titans for that matter.)

Anyway, I don't think the orb itself would be blighted. I think Solas would steer clear of it if it was. I don't know why Corypheus would go from blue lyrium face plates to red lyrium face plates so suddenly, though. At first I figured it was just because he was in stasis before Hawke woke him up and didn't change physically, so his darkspawn corruption didn't have enough time to corrupt the lyrium. But...we don't know how long he was wandering around before the grey wardens captured him. I don't think it was because the orb was corrupted, though. Especially if the blight was a concern for the ancient elves. I just can't see Solas having anything to do with a corrupted orb regardless of how desperate he was.

Hmm. :)

I'd forgotten Cole's views on the matter. Cole and Kieran and Dagna, I swear.

As for how long Corypheus was wandering:

The Assault on the Black City was in 7205, or possibly a few years earlier. It's when the darkspawn began to appear at the edges of the dwarven empire, and the wiki attributes as the Assault.

The Grey Wardens captured him and imprisoned him within Vimmark in 7409. So he's had a long time to wander around.

This lovely gentleman was telling me about World of Thedas II in another thread, and he mentioned that it listed the titles of the Seven Magisters. So that's terribly exciting. :D The Architect seems to have been confirmed as Urthemiel's High Priest, and the Madman of Razikale was mentioned. I think it's safe to say that, should the Sixth Blight show up in an upcoming game, we'll be seeing the Madman and his Lusacan equivalent.
