Okay! Uh. I don't think anyone is really interested in this except for maybe Caddius, but you are all welcome to it! It's my hope it might help some of you lore craft. Obviously the really interesting bits don't have dates and are only speculative. Thus, they aren't in here. But you get the idea. Also Caddius' written timeline is to blame for most of the text references so if there's something wrong... point your fingers at him!

I also put this together for personal reasons. I wanted to have a scope of how far apart things are. I also wanted to have all three forms of calendar (FA, TE, and Chantry) in here for easy reference. The top graph is representative of everything, while the bottom is a zoom in of more recent events (well, the past 1200 years). The coloured part on the top far right represents events after the Chantry took over. Little itty bitty thing compared to the rest of DA's history, isn't it? So much blank space we don't know about before that. Andraste's era was the most dense. So is the Dragon Age, but I deliberately left a lot of the Dragon Age out because we know most of it and it gets really busy. Because of that, Inquisition events aren't really covered at all.

It's not huge but it's between 2000x2500 pixels so big enough to warn you. Here it is! 

Now back to that Solas painting I was supposed to have finished by now.

She didn't want to marry him. Let's not forget that. She's also a lesbian and in love with Briala. I know political marriages with side affairs aren't unheard of, but Gaspard wouldn't be satisfied with that. He's too greedy, and she knows that. Celene is trying to keep her position, and she has taken some cold actions to gain her seat and keep it, sure.

 

I blame her for making the decision to do it, but ultimately, it was Gaspard's fault in threatening to kill her while riding, in arranging her public mockery, and in his underhanded dealings via the bard and other seeds of insurgency he was sowing, and then springing a trap in which HE didn't exactly value the lives that would be lost, directly or indirectly. Celene did it but she had some clear misgivings and knew what it might cost (though some of her considerations were about personal cost, so she's not exactly a saint either). Gaspard was power hungry and wanted war at any cost.

Its not a matter of wanting. She is the Empress of Orlais, it is her duty to do what is best for the country, and she did not, she chose herself. I'm not sure where you are getting this Gaspard is greedy thing, as far as I can recall he doesn't want the throne for money and power, but because he genuinely believes Celene will destroy Orlais. Its not only Gaspard that she refuses to marry, but also Remache, Gaspard's biggest ally, marrying him effectively cripples Gaspard,  but she didn't because she comes before her country. This, in my opinion, makes her a bad monarch.   

 

Gaspard doesn't care about elves and he did hatch a plan that put them at risk, its true, but this plan relied on Celene being a scumbag. Which is a safe bet really. Celene hasn't exactly hesitated on murdering elves before, what with murdering her girlfriend's parents to secure the throne and all.  

 

I'm pretty sure that even if she had married him, Gaspard would have arranged some kind of "accident" to befall her? With a claim on the throne due to the line of succession, as well through the bonds of marriage, there'd be very little preventing him from becoming Emperor?

That is a lot of what if. I could just as easily say that she would attempt to murder him.

Yes, this exactly. He would definitely not be satisfied. After reading TME, I just can't let him live. He's exiled in my game but going to change that in Keep.

 

I waffle on letting him live or not.  I think my Lavellan would probably try to talk Celene out of executing him.  Yes, he's a wild card, but exiled from Orlais, he's also separated from the militaristic nobles and chevaliers who form the bulk of his support.  And my Lavellan's too much of a softie to kill people when she has another option.

True, and this is part of the reason (on both accounts) I had my Lavellan exile him the first time. But reading TME changed my mind on him and really made me dislike his methods, personality, and have not a single shred of trust that he wouldn't try to defiantly come back sometime.

So I had a thought:

Dragons are resistant to the Blight. Much like my grandfather with the radiation the Navy cheerfully exposed him to back in the 40's, dragons' bodies take the taint and put it into lumps for containment. Dragons are hard to hit with the Blight. While Corypheus's dragon is blighted, it's also thirty percent blighted lyrium.

So how do the darkspawn infect Old God dragons so easily?

Are the Old Gods already infected? (Yet the Architect mentions the darkspawn following the song because it is beautiful and perfect, and that it changes when it rises as an Archdemon. Perhaps it's their Song as they dream, as opposed to when they awaken and feel the pain of being blighted?)

Are the Old Gods different from dragons in that respect?

I actually did take a break from writing because I've been feeling rather bad lately. Dealing with nerve pain/associated things for days. I started writing this fluff fic yesterday but I'm not pleased with how it's coming out, even though I know exactly what scenes I'm trying to write. The language feels...stilted.

There is always the potential for more Cole feels.  And more Dorian feels.  Dorian is King of Ninja Feels.

Dorian and Solas both care so much, and express that in quite different ways. Both of them seem to have degrees of fear to hope and even bits (or in Solas' case, a lot) of self-denial. Both also come from positions of privilege in their respective societies (even though one is accepting of his flashiness and the other is an apostage hobo at the moment), and with both there are multiple layers to that and how it affects their outlook, and what aspects they reject. Solas obviously has a rather complicated case.

 

Dorian's WoT2 pages though....man, more feels.
