Oh no, I killed the thread.
*throws art at the thread*
I FINALLY got my hands on World of Thedas, so hopefully I can rejoin the world soon, once I've read it. But because I got it literally twenty minutes ago, I have nothing of value except smut. The subject received some enthusiastic noises when I first broached it, so I hope I did it justice. ![]()

Oh, I won't call you bloody idiot
to your face.Iorveth is the best! That bloodthirsty madman is just adorable. I'd side with him again and again.
But be sure to go the Roche path at least once because it will be a completely different game then and it is great to see the other side of the coin.
And in The Witcher, just kill everything.
Well... actually I let every major person live, hoping to see him/her again in the next game. (The decisions you make do actually matter here.)
Oh, and at the end, make sure to tell me what decision you made. I am curious!
How does it go? Ah. Iorveth is my one-eyed husbando. ![]()
My SO is watching the Youtube movie versions of Witcher 1 and 2 through the magic of Youtube in prep for Tuesday. I set her up with the Neutral Path for 1, but I'm undecided on 2. She'd probably love Iorveth and Saaskia and the dwarves, but Roche's path is so (brutally) good as well, and I have no idea what save state I wanna go with for 3. ![]()

I just want to say:
Iorveth

(I have a very unhealthy obsession with Iorveth.)
I feel like reloading and going with Roche now. Iorveth is too mainstream. ![]()

I would agree with you... except that Iorveth is a flame to my moth
utterly irresistible to the point of madness.

I've been intrigued by a banter Solas has with Varric where he admits that the Wardens bought them some time. I don't know if he refers to the corruption itself or something we are not aware of...
I'll just pretened I understand it and go and play with the prompt generator.

Now I know what people mean when they talk about Ser Barris. I still think the mage side has the better quest, but the Envy stuff is still pretty cool, and Cole's intro makes a lot of sense here. Also, upside down room and all the assorted creepy things.
Been plotting out a story but not the Solavellan fic I was writing. That one I'm coming back to.
Random interjection: I think we should rename the thread:
Solas discussion fan thread: home of the blanket fort, kit kat bars, and cute pictures of Cole with fuzzy animals.
That might be too long. ![]()

Or just some more from kelgrid, because she's fabulous: http://kelgrid.tumbl...d-and-had-wacky
Hmm, fascinating stuff. Ok, this definitely seems like the Gauntlet, yet I'm still wondering about it in a more literal sense.
Plus there's more here which piques my interest:
First, nine mountains? Why nine? What are the other eight?
This has been nibbling at the back of my mind too. There are a handful of lone mountains scattered across Thedas- ones that seem to rise from flat ground miles away from any connective mountain range- which seem like a good start toward a list of suspects:
The White Spire, near the forest of Arlathan
Dragon's Peak near the Brecilian forest
Mont de Glace on the edge of the Sundered Sea
Other possibilities:
Solatarios, the "Lonely One", near Asariel. (Described as a solitary hill, possibly suggesting a very, very old mountain.)
Arl Dumat, which looks like a volcano on the border of the Urthemiel plateau
Belenas, which used to stand where Lake Calenhad now is according to Avvar myth.
The nameless theoretical volcano that created the Frostback Basin caldera
*tinfoil territory, beware!*
One of the things that seems potentially interesting here is that we seem to find volcanoes or the remnants of mountains that have been brought low in myths that are directly associated with the fall of Gods. The caldera left by the Nameless God we find in the Frostback Basin. Lake Calenhad, a crater filled with the Lady's tears when Korth fell to the serpent Nathramar and Belenas was levelled. (Red lyrium Andruil taken out by Mythal.)
Also (-and please somebody step in here if this isn't right, because I have no idea where this thought is coming from) I seem to remember a legend stating that if the line of Calenhad ever failed, Dragon's Peak would erupt. It definitely feels like there's something here- some connection between each mountain, its God, and -potentially- a bloodline of the God's chosen.
As an aside, all of this does really weird things in my head when I think about this codex describing entities "hunting the pillars of the Earth". The capitalization doesn't seem accidental, and perhaps this is how we reconcile the idea of "pillars" and huntable things: blood lines whose extermination would fell a "pillar"- one of the nine mountains. That runs a bit counter to the original idea of one mountain = one god, though- perhaps the pillars of Earth are a separate thing?
There appears to be a lull in posts so i'm just gonna throw these things in here.
Don't have a full view of my costume yet but here's some of my vallaslin and ears:

Definitely adorable. You remind me a little of one of my friends. What did you use to apply the vallaslin? I feel like keeping that from smudging would be the hardest part.
I've been planning on rewriting the theory about the change in the meaning of "Harellan" for my tumblr anyway, might as well do it here since it's been brought up. This was a collaboration with Jadestone from December (clearly I think too much about this game).
http://dragonage.wik...:_The_Rebel_God
According to this codex the change in the meaning of "Harellan" didn't take place until the Towers Age, which is significant if you look at the timeline. The Towers Age is directly after the Glory Age, in which the Exalted March of the Dales and the diaspora of the elven people took place. The formation of the modern Dalish took place in the remaining years of the Glory and Towers Ages, where the elves were told to convert to Andrastianism or die. I imagine the Dalish oath "never again shall we submit" originates around the Glory/Towers Age. This is also the time when Divine Renata established the first alienages.
Up until the 2nd Exalted March, Fen'Harel seems to be held in high regard. There are wolf statues all over the Dales, and the Emerald Knights are known to have had wolf companions.
I think the transition is explained best by this codex, found in Din'an Hanin. It points out a painful aspect of hope: when shattered or lost, followers that once had faith can easily turn on those who promised a better future.
Spirits of Hope twist to Despair Demons, and what we find in the Emerald Graves seems to add fuel to the crackpot theory that the demons' striking physical parallels to ancient werewolf / Fen'Harel / Dread Wolf imagery may exist for a reason.

Oh my gosh, you look great! I, too, am curious to know what you used to draw your vallaslin.

Omg! I accidently wiped my face when I was outside in the heat and my vallaslin looked faded up top (I took the pictures right after I applied my vallaslin in case I messed it up later on). After that I tried not to touch my face. I used children's facepaint I found at Micheal's (arts and crafts store) and applied it using one of my paint brushes. The left side was the hardest to apply.
I don't know if a 26 year old should look adorable, but I do like being called that :3
To add, I painted the vallaslin in a mirror while I looked at an image of Mythal's vallaslin on my computer:

It came out really good and I was just thinking to myself that heat + touching one's face might make that so hard. I would probably use one of my waterproof liquid liners but I'm sure that would take forever. It is pretty great though, especially for being something you did while looking at a reference.
I get called adorable a lot. I can think of worse things. ![]()
On my phone, so hard to quote, but Nehn, you make an awesome elf.
I love that you chose yellow for your Mythal vallaslin. *thumbsup!*
I like seeing people who choose something you don't see that often as well. And it looks great done for cosplay too.
I haven't really seen any other Lavellans (other than my canon) with dark lipstick. My mage is brown with a light blue/edging on turquoise vallaslin. I almost changed hers to yellow in The Black Emporium.
I was happy though at the comic con (mainly comic book nerds) at least 2 people recognized me as a Lavellan/Inquisitor and 1 person thought I was just a Dalish elf.

Very nicely done. You do look awesome. ![]()
If you can find liquid latex in the color you want, you might try using that for a more durable vallaslin. It held up well for me during the long gone age when I would cosplay as a Trill at Star Trek conventions. ![]()

i used to use eyeliner pencil for Trill, but that was just for me at home. I had forgotten those moments.
