I particularly like having Morrigan drink from the Well if Kieran's around and has Urthemiel's soul. The story comes full circle in such a wonderful way, and that scene with Flemeth is particularly satisfying when Morrigan basically realizes that her own drive for knowledge has completely f***ed her over. (Don't get me wrong, I ADORE Morrigan, but the poetic justice is too much to pass up
)
If Kieran's not around, IMO it's more even.
I know what you mean. Morrigan felt very real to me in that portion of the story, very flawed, both sympathetic and frustrating.
That's my default play through, with my Artificer Trevelyan. With Morrigan drinking and Kieran alive. Most of my characters wouldn't touch the Well of Sorrow, but I decided that my Tempest Lavellan would feel responsible for that knowledge. She'd feel like she owes it to her people to preserve it. Plus, for all her diplomacy and good manners...She's a little crazy reckless.
I've got my Mage Trevelyan play through with no Kieran to look forward to that then. I think this play through might be the only one where my character drinks, and I'm pretty happy with it. It was fraught with emotion and uncertainty. I'm finally getting into how much variation is actually possible with different world states.
My Lavellan drank from the Well. That was a RP choice - even if Solas dumped me over it (and the first time I played I thought he had) there is no way I could ever make a different choice. My Lavellan isn't just a Dalish elf - she's the First of Clan Lavellan. Her entire life has been about preserving the history of her people. She had the arcane knowledge perk and drank from the Well knowing all the risks. I also feel it makes more sense for Solas' dialouge afterwards. He asks her what she's going to do with the power of the Well.
But it's like the Cole choice and vallaslin choice. There's no right or wrong answer.
This is true, and I loved the scene, every word and nuance. It was even better than the first kiss in the Fade for me. I was able to have her express heartbreak over truth about vallaslin, and yet be unwilling to let go of it at the same time. I was able to let her express a range of conflicting emotion. That was really beautifully done. The scene was beautiful.
I just can't believe how much drama was packed into one hour of play after so many hours of monotony. So weird.
