WELL NEVERMIND, THEN!

...  Way to burst my bubble.

Then what was the spoiler?  Or was he just being an ass?

It could just have been Bioware's spoiler policy.  He couldn't show anything that hadn't be vetted by higher ups.

On the subject of Weeke's old tweets - I'm pretty sure the version of the game they played was slightly different.  I remember a tweet where he didn't have enough materials to make Assquisitor's new coat so he stripped everyone else down.  That implies the salvage mechanic was in the single player game at one point.

He has a certain follower with him from the Calling and he makes a reference to a promise he made to that character and the writers have mentioned it. :)

Oh okay, that's what I get for never finishing Awakening (I'm going to this time)! It's probably the brother of the sister who's names elude me...

Alistair totally counts as elven (I like to picture my heroes and their LIs meeting up in a pub and Hawke feeling awkward because she's the only human there as Alistair is immediately claimed by the elf side).

Romance Fenris on the friendship path as a pro-mage apostate.  Everything will become wonderful and you will love the game.

I totally forgot Alistair is a halfie! Okay Alistair, you pass for now <3
I'm going to play a Mage Hawke for the first time (I always play rogue). I'm so torn between Anders and Fenris romance! I've played both, but remember little of each.
I've never loved DA2 as much as DAO and DAI but I'm excited to replay it a 3rd time...
Maybe playing an apostate will make the game more enjoyable?

So, this is an interesting question going on here; I typically love playing both male and female characters, so this isn't a bothersome question for me. But, even if it were....

Have you seen Iorveth?????   Or Yaevinn???? *snipsnip*

(My Witcher 3 is waiting for me at home, I can't wait to meet it!  )

And Siegfried. ;) And Letho.  (I have diverse tastes.)

Same here! :D *high fives*

I could never play as a rouge Hawke.  I love the class, but I'd miss my little bro too much.

I feel that - plot holes of why Hawke can run around the Gallows casting spells aside - being a mage adds a lot to the game.  It gives a more personal connection to the overall plot and 3/5 LIs (Anders, Merrill and Fenris).  Plus, you get the better sibling :P (joking aside, Carver's story arc really is amazing.  Both paths are good but the Warden one is my favourite.  Templer is a bit more depressing.)

Does anyone know what Hawke says about Carver if he's a templar? Warden bro is far from Orlais and safe, but templar bro was right in the thick of things at Kirkwall. I don't want him to turn into one of those red lyrium monsters...

Well there you go! It's freakin Bethany's fault for being a shotty sister! All these years I missed out on the good siblings. I completely forgot Carver had his own story.

Since I'm an artist I like coming up with fillings for plot holes... So I think Hawke can use magic in the Gallows without being caught because the Templars aren't watching! Nailed it! #bullshite

Also, playing through again and mentions of butterflies <3

<snip>

I totally love the butterfly = light, moth = flame theory, madrar <3 I'm wondering if the Qunari have learned to avoid "the golden light", for that very reason?

P.S. You guys talking about The Witcher 3! Friends keep saying I would like it, but it just seems so.... male.... to me! And I can't trust them for an honest review since they tease me alllll the time. Do you guys recommend it?

I totally missed that reference.  @w@  Nice catch!

As for the Witcher.... ehhhh...  let's just say, its perspective is distinctly, heavily masculine.  If you go in expecting that, it's bearable and worth enduring to get to the story.

Also (from a graphics perspective) it's super pretty.  I'd give the edge to Bioware's environment team hands down, but BW's character model and animation guys could pick up some pointers, for sure.  No awkward rigging, no painful-looking animations, the occasional opportunity to slice people in half...

*sighs dreamily*

I'd imagine that Aveline gets him out of Kirkwall like she does for Warden Carver.  I don't think I have a Templer!Carver worldstate, though.  The banter in Legacy where he regrets joining the Templers and Anders can mention he thinks Carver would've made a good Warden has made me unable to ever go that route again.

I find Bethany to be really dull.  She's nice and there's not much more to her.  Carver is constantly butting heads with Hawke and has a ton of faults and insecurities, so seeing him grow up over the course of the game is really fantastic.

I like her transformation from sweet little sister to stoic Grey Warden. She gives me the impression that she'll be really badass in the future. I like Carver too though, choosing my class is the toughest choice in the game.

I never choose Rogue Hawke, I have this weird thing where I can only have 1 rogue in a party, and that rogue has to be Varric.

I agree ... I like Bethany but seeing Carver actually change/mature over the course of the game was really nice.  I also prefer going the friend path with Carver even though it's more difficult.

Solas was my first romance so I had no idea what I was getting into.  When he took Lavellan to fire swamp I thought that was leading up to the sex scene, not a dumping.

It all does begin so wonderfully light, romantic, and happy. ^_^ I was accidentally spoiled on who he was right before the temple but I did not get spoiled on him dumping you.  It's really beautiful, all of it, ultimately, in the most heartbreaking of ways. I didn't know what I was getting into either, just like most.

I like Carver, but it took awhile.

One of my favorite moments with my first snarky Hawke mage was when he flipped from 'Goofball' to 'End this conversation or I end you,' in the conversation where Carver says Bethany died on Hawke's watch. (She died because mages aren't meant for close quarters combat...I might have gone for an archer sniping her as she was blasting the Ogre back or something.) And then Carver backs down. And then they're both sullen. And then they decide to go kill slavers together to work out their issues rather than just talking.  Bioware understands brothers.

I'm an only child, so for me Bethany and Carver were two different vicarious experiences of having a sibling. And I got really attached to both of them. I just about had a rage aneurysm when Anders started in on Circle! Bethany in Legacy.

Nope.  The Alistair love is real

Funny thing, though; it was DA:I that rekindled my love of Alistair.  I first played Origins when I was 20, and upon replaying it five years later, I was like "OMG Alistair, you're cute but STFU ABOUT DUNCAN ALREADY."  But then DA:I came along, with ten-years-older Warden!Alistair, and I basically swooned all over my monitor.  He grows up real well!

I wasn't keen on his look in DAI at first, but then it grew on me a lot and I love it now. It is a vast improvement over his look in DA2. I have King Alistair  and I was sad that he was unknowingly banishing his own mother when he showed up at Redcliffe.

Sera is currently Greatly Approving of my Adaar.  Woof.

She's responding better to my snarkier mage and it's definitely turning up the adorable. But I'll save the Sera romance for someone else.

Oh no!

*hands you a cup of tea*

Everything is better with a cup of virtual tea from a virtual friend!

(also, it's Anders Positivity Week from the 2th-31st May on tumblr.  Hashtag is #AndersPositive)

Thanks, it's been kind of a rough day. And you brought up Anders positivity, you are being nice. :)

The exact moment that Carver clicked for me was when I was doing my mandatory TVTropes browse after finishing my first playthrough with a rogue (I had a mage somewhere in Act 2, as well) and a troper pointed out that Carver disapproves whenever Hawke helps out other mages, and generally gets involved with that business. Not because Carver hates mages. It's because he disapproves whenever Hawke puts him/herself in harm's way. He's an overprotective little brother, and kind of a ****, but I love him.

Alistair was really going for the 'puffy potato' look in DA2, wasn't he?  I didn't think he looked great as King Alistair in DAI, but I love his Warden Alistair look (plus, you get to hear him talk lovingly about the Warden  )

I just found Sera's dislike of elves, dislike of mages and low approval she gives for flirting with her to be too much work to romance her.  My Templer-conscripting qunari mage is going to get far more flirt approval, though.

You are welcome!

Art!  And not just Solas! (follow the link to properly view the image.  The small version does not do it justice).

I disagree with a few of the houses, but it's pretty cool.

I love the art but I'd also take issue with a couple of those.

I wouldn't quite know where my canon might fit. Hmm...

That is one of the reasons I love Carver.  Everytime I see people saying that Carver hates mages I'm just 'did you even play the game?  Or talk to him at all?  Or actually LISTEN when he comments during quests?'

One of his first lines in Act I is about how he doesn't want them to wake up in the Gallows.  Hawke being arrested alone doesn't even cross his mind.  If the Templers want to take his sister, they're going to have to take him too.

He's not too fond of Templers during Act I (so anyone who thinks he's always on their side is wrong), but if you take him along on every main story quest you can see him gradually changing his mind on the Order as he sees their good side, as well as the bad side of apostates.  It means his choice to join them makes far more sense.

Nah, Carver is still alive! "Can't let Hawke have all the Glory" As Varric says!

I love playing Mage Hawke and 100% rival Templar Carver, their banter is hilarious  his rivalry with her is totally his fuel in life! (I also have brothers <3

And those brothers have been talking about the Witcher... something to do with collecting cards for each sexual encounter with a woman? And then they turn to me and say I should get it! And I respond with "why would I want to play a game like that?!"

So I think it's less to do with difficulty playing a man (though that may be a part of it), but more to do with, as Sable touched on, a possible general atmosphere of sexism (women as trophies, etc) that has been putting me off it.

But lore richness and pretty scenery? Maybe  ^_^

I play rogues so I've never had Carver. I do not fully understand. Perhaps I should finally do a mage Hawke playthrough, given everything else.

And the sibling relationship isn't really something I relate to. ( I do have a wonderful sister from my dad but she's an actual child and lives a thousand miles away, so it's different.) I have to base siblings on my writing on media and people I know.

Like, I still have in the mental planning stages a fic about my Lavellan's return to her clan and that includes her two siblings (she's the eldest), so hopefully I can get the right notes.

Mage Hawke is the best.  Not just because of Carver (although if I could keep my bro alive on a rouge playthrough I would play as a rouge for more than 10 minutes).

My Lavellan also has a sibling, but she's the younger one.  Her brother was meant to be the rouge!Lavellan I used for my Cass romance, but that Inky has changed to a Cadash and the Lavellan for Dorian is a completely different character.

Yeah, the card collection thing was kind of effed up in 1. But it's entirely possible to completely ignore it, or just romance Triss in 1. The game is much bigger than that. :) It's like people rejecting ME1 for having blue alien butt.  Yeah, it's there if you're interested, but the whole Saren thing is more interesting for most.

Then a much smaller, more 'character' based number of encounters in 2. And no cards.

I've always gone Rival Carver. How exactly do you get his friendship up? I always end up locking him into Rival before the opening credits.  ^_^
