"Regarding the elf Felassan, the information that is known is far eclisped by the information that is lacking. It is clear that he mentored Briala in her youth, teaching Celene's handmaid about elven culture and supplementing her already impressive training as spy. He accompanied Briala and Celene after Gaspard attacked the empress outside Halamshiral, providing assistance that almost certainly kept Celene alive--and his expertise regarding the ancient elven mirrors known as Eluvians is unparallaled.

What is not known, however, is what Felassan gained from this mentorship and assistance. He was not a member of Clan Virnehn, and in fact, no Dalish clan willing to speak with outsiders admits to having had Felassan among its ranks. When his skill with magic was explained--he is known to have caused earthquakes and thunderstorms, rent stone walls asunder, and explosively countered the magic of a Dalish mage who, it was later revealed, was possessed by a powerful demon at the time--the Dalish clans noted that such a gifted mage would more likely be serving as Keeper for a clan than wandering the world alone like some restless hermit.

 

Empress Celene, speaking through her advisors, said that in her journeys with Felassan, she found him to be unlike any other elf she'd encountered. "He had neither the loyal fellowship of the city elves nor the love of the past that marks the Dalish," she said. "It was impossible to say what he truly cared about, but most things I expected an elf to care about seemed to him mere curiosities."

 

Grand Duke Gaspard, who also traveled with Felassan while allied briefly with Celene, shared similar opinions when asked. "He didn't look down, and any city elf would have. He didn't look angry, and all Dalish did. He didn't talk about the old elves like a scholar or poet. He talked about them like a man who walked those streets himself."

 

Wherever he is now, Felassan will, it seems, remain a mystery."

I think Felassan may have just served his purpose but those plot threads will come into play....and I cautiously* await them.

I don't understand why people find Sera's response to fLavellan's reason for removing the vallaslin surprising? Sera is an insensitive ass, she doesn't hide that fact. She also doesn't hide her low opinion of the dalish, it's practically the first thing out of her mouth when you meet her. I understand why people don't like her, I just don't get why people are surprised by her response.

 

I didn't say it was surprising. However, when you start getting to know her, she's more complex than that. In any case, her response, to someone who had become a friend and with whom a lot of fun and pleasnt things had also been said and experienced, her statements came off as quite cruel. You'd think you get to know someone and become friends and start to care and then a person still lashes out with something that is hurtful.

 

I do like Sera, but I also like that she was internally polarizing to me throughout. Even if I did wind up over in the like column.

 

She even approves if you answer "That never stopped you" to her statement about sounding like an idiot. She responds well to you giving back what she dishes out.

Oh, and I was just reminded of the weird DA dreams I've been having lately. I woke up the other day from one where there was a Solavellan pregnancy (and I am not into the pregnancy AU stuff in the least), and this morning I woke up from something about making a male Lavellan to romance Dorian that looked like Solas but naming him Silas. I was laughing about that in the dream and then after waking up. Solasception.

 

I ...I have no idea....my brain goes to weird places.

I had a Solas dream where we were climbing a mountain or something and going undercover so I (or me as Lavellan?) had to remove his hobo longshirt so he could change...but nothing else really happened.

It was nice...

 

I missed being able to remove my companion's clothes in DAI.

My pet theory about Felassan is that;

He's (probably) dead and that the person he was talking to at the end of TME was Solas.

 

Rather than kill him to hijack his body as some have supected, I think that Solas drained his power from him because he needed that pick-me-up after his long slumber, like he does at the end with Flemeth. Unfortunately, Felassan's power - as strong as it was - was still not enough to open the Orb, so he was forced to find other means to open it, leading to his decision to get Corypheus to do the deed instead?

 

Why couldn't he steal power from Corypheus then? Perhaps it's the same as why according to Flemeth, souls cannot be conferred on another by force, (ignoring for a moment that the Blight seems to break this rule), so that power would need to be given willingly? Felassan would have relucantly accepted sacrificing himself since he idolised Fen'Harel and Flemeth lets herself be taken likely because it's part of some greater scheme of hers?

 

It wouldn't have work on Corypheus or someone like Abelas because neither would give up their power willingly. Corypheus would probably fight to the death before ever giving up his power, while Abelas wouldn't let his go either, because even if Solas revealed himself and his true nature, Abelas is a servant of Mythal... so unless it was her will, why should he care what the Wolf wants, he doesn't answer to him?

 

Solas and Felassan being two distinct people would also perhaps explain why when Abelas asks about "Elven such as you" still existing in the world, Solas replies that there are, which he would know if he'd met Felassan previously. And he'd still technically be telling the truth, that some elves have survived into the modern age... whether they remained living however is a convenient technicality?

i dont care for the speculation that hes an active player in thedas....  bringing out a god character in games is just old.

 

 

I agree, it might seem a little too strange if they introduce him as the main villain just of the bat, however if we had seen him before in the story (say int the form of Flemeth) then it would not be that strange. And I believe that Flemeth is actually rather likely.

Felassan is clearly very afraid of whoever his master is. He's avoiding sleep, avoiding the Fade, knowing something could or would happen, especially if he came back empty-handed. Felassan is also pretty jovial and essentially a Fen'Harel fanboy when he talks about him. Totally different, a certain reverence but not fear. Whose vallaslin he wears is probably the key. I kind of doubt, given what we know about a certain butt grabbing elf's attitudes toward free will and slavery,, that Fen'Harel would even have vallaslin to spread. I'd be surprised if he did, though it's not entirely out of the question for it to be something he renounced once upon a time.

Actually going back and scouring the old Felassan/Fen'harel threads has been fun.

(I know, even if Bioware has to depower them like Kieran, I still would enjoy knowing we have demi-Gods running about?)

I kind of hope that isn't where we're going, especially not in a DLC. I think the devs have plans for him that will roll out over time. Though I do think, especially after Mike Laidlaw spoke of knowing fans want to know more about the end and 'one arc in particular' that we'll start to get some answers there but he also said that we won't get all of the answers in DLC. But the Solavellan stuff, since we'll probably get a new PC as usual for the next game, that will have to wrap somehow. Or at least go the Morrigan way and move firmly into the background for some time and be resolved without player input.

 

Which, if it goes the Morrigan way, could make some people happy but all things considered, I also don't think the devs want to be repetitive, so I don't think we'll see a 'stab Morrigan' option or a kill or set free or run away with Anders option (though as someone who set Hawke away with Anders, I think my Inquisitor would be inclined to do the same if the purpose were good.

 

We just don't know yet....and I don't really want to see a repeat option. This time it's different since not only does he leave but the entire thing is still locked and it's more open-ended. Morrigan leaving accomplished the same thing in there being a potential for weird, strong power out in the world and us in the dark, but it feels different.

I think whatever happens will be somewhat bittersweet. Though I hope there's a happier option. DAI let everyone basically have a chance to be happy and together except.....us.

It would just be this weird dynamic. And there are people who interpret the Solavellan relationship as sexless. I totally do not see a sexless relationship there but it's left open to interpretation.

No, you'd see baby elves. Solas is an elf. Maybe an elf god, and maybe he can change into other forms like Morrigan or Flemeth could, but you don't see Kieran with a tail, do you?

 

Might be interesting if such a thing were possible, but I don't really see them having a baby plot. At least, not one that wasn't clearly spelled out since some people prefer to keep the relationship chaste, to say nothing of childless.

I agree i want something that connects us at a much more deeper level then a sex scene although let's face it none of us here will mind it if they put one in  Oh and i have to edit my post and say that i had dreams about Solas with my Lavellan after reading all these amazing fanfics and what i wanted to happen as well and none of them had a sex scene in it.It was about everything and in between flirts,fade,Halamshiral,missions campsites,first kiss,last kiss,hurt and pain,happiness and laughs Then after every dream total sadness, cuz  i knew he wasn't there anymore!
