As long as we have a persuade option I am okay with it then. ;)

I just don't want to execute my PC's love for any reason.

WOW WOW WOW look at all these gifs. That Anders and Fenris one, oh my glob.

I KNOW I'M SORRY I'M JUST SO EXCITED... AND I JUST CAN'T HIDE IT. [whacked]

In seriousness though, I start to feel a little guilty every couple minutes but then I'm like, AH, WHO CARES? THIS IS FUN. THIS IS EXCITING. And it's rare that I get to have this type of fun because, you know, anxiety. Midnight release things are never gonna happen for me but THIS THOUGH. This is good.
on the other hand if anyone does feel like i'm being a pain in the ass feel free to tell me (though i might appreciate kinder wording, aha) and i'll try to reign it in. i don't want to be annoying eep. [promptly goes back to feeling guilty]

As for that theory, well... Never even watched Avatar so a lot of the details of the comparisons probably blew by me BUT I get the gist and I like the sound of it. Mostly because with that whole "ORDER OR CHAOS?" thing I was like CHAOSsSsSs. If I were a DnD character I'd totally fall on Chaotic Good by nature and I gotta say, if any place is in need of some destruction of bad to make way for the good, it's Thedas. I mean, why the hell would I support the status quo of oppression? Look where it got us. And for what? Like hell would I ever allow that crap to be re-instated. All these people have DIED for this, willingly or not. We're just going to... what, ignore that? Go back to the way things were like it's all fine? NO. I WILL NOT BE HAPPY UNLESS I CAN ERADICATE THE CIRCLE AND THE TEMPLARS DOWN TO THEIR ROOTS SO THEY MAY NEVER RISE AGAIN. (That's actually a thing I worry about for Inquisition... Like, it's not going to be that type of BS that 2 was, right? Where it was all "PICK A SIDE" but it never actually LET YOU PICK A SIDE until the last goddamn minute...? Like I SUPPORT THE MAGES. I SUPPORT FREEDOM. F****** LET ME DO THAT OMG.)

Ideally I'd love to, you know, destroy the Chantry too... but I guess I can (grudgingly) accept that that's probably out of the realm of possibility just for the boatload of mess it'd make for BW in diverging player canons... But since the Inquisition is so infested with Andrastians (Cass, Cullen, Lili, I don't know if Vivi is actually devout but she supports their systems so I'm lumping her in there) I've been largely expecting to be either, a, not allowed to pursue my goals, or b, end up all on my own for going rogue. So the idea that Solas might be in my corner is pretty damn enjoyable to me, hehe.

That said I don't speculate for a reason as there's literally so many way to take things without context or details or what have you... You could probably manage to see anything if you tilt and squint enough. I still like this idea though. It would be very pleasant if a possibility.

I've said this in another thread a while ago... It's actually just the advisors that are making it look so Andrastian. If you compare companions, Inquisition will have as many or even less Andrastians (as in pro-Chantry, not people who say Maker a lot) as the previous games.

Naw, it's cool. We all have roughly two more hours of wait time soooooooo... ... ... I'm debating what I can do in the meantime to stay awake. (Without taking energy drinks or coffee because I forgot I actually have to do something tomorrow morning so... WHOOPS) Watching a little Xena Warrior Princess never hurt, but I tend to do that when working on my cosplay. I would join that twitch chat but I don't have an account.

I think it's possible there might be some religious split or a rejection of a certain religion in game. The first time I brought up speculation as to why Vivienne and Solas were on the cover I thought it had to do with them supporting different higher powers or gods. (And also love interest things) Such as the old gods and whatever something-something here is a link to my original theory. So it is possible this current theory I posted (which builds upon my old one but takes some things in a different direction) may be incorrect. And my old theory may be more on the money. Long story short, you may get you wish of being rid of the Chantry. Also, there's a lot of people who support Andraste, but you must remember that in Origins there are those who approve when you defile the ashes and others who disapprove (to the point they'll try and kill you) because you did that.

AND YEAH I mean, I thought Solas was possibly a eunuch because his old screen-shots were... erm.. uh... quite flat. (IT WAS A REALLY LOW TIME FOR ME AND SPECULATION. I look back and laugh, but what if? WHAT IFFFF???)

Inquisition starts off with a heavy bias because it's founded by powerful and devout members of the Chantry.  That and two of them are advisers who can never leave no matter what you do.

WOO LIVESTREAM HYPE

I took a nap (kinda) and now I am ready to stay up! I'm gonna get myself some coffee.

HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE SLEEPOVER FRIEND. I need to hit the coffee soon, I think... I can't believe I haven't had any! I AM SUSTAINED PURELY BY HYPE.

I suppose so. I'll be honest, I don't have much of my brain available to me right now, hahah. The parts that aren't sleeping are in a spastic frenzy so I didn't take more than a second to think about it. Still, though. I'd imagine the advisers are pretty important, what with them managing whole branches of the organization and whatnot...  But the devs have also said they can't leave, right? So I guess at worst they'll just absolutely hate my guts but be stuck with me for needing my glowy hand hah.

Yeah it's like ONLY TWO HOURS AHHH. But... still two hours... Hnn...
That is an unfortunate development, though. So glad I got nothing going on, aha. GOOD LUCK FINDING SOMETHING. I don't have one, either, but I'm sure I'll be too engrossed to type anyway.

I'd love that, though. Tbh I'm real tired of getting railroaded and pushed into things...  Sometimes majorly, like DA2, and sometimes simple, like playing a Dalish in Origins and having your dialog choices be s*** like "Andraste's blood!" Like, SERIOUSLY? YOU'RE FOR REAL RN? Way to go.

When it comes down to it I don't WANT to support the Chantry in ANY way. NONE. And I don't WANT to support Orlais, either. People are all, Gaspard or Celene?? And I'm over here like, please let there be a third option. The world is literally "tearing itself apart" (as the trailers have gone out of their way to state repeatedly) so I seriously better get some NEW options instead of just one or two choices that involve picking up pieces of the old and trying to stitch them back together, ugh... "Change is coming to the world," Morrigan says. She better be right. Because if it doesn't happen now, then when? Feh.

I mean, even if I can't break the Chantry, just like... leaving it so weakened that it's basically powerless. I mean, apparently in the beginning it suffers quite the blow, so if they seriously expect me (or gods forbid, FORCE ME) to help them rebuild... UGH. No. Nonono. No.
And that aside, the Circles and Templars are already dissolved so if we could just go ahead and keep it that way... and rip out what remains of the foundations in case anyone gets the bright idea of trying to build anew...

Like, I'm not unreasonable. I'M WILLING TO COMPROMISE. I understand the limitations of resources and I don't expect to be able to reshape Thedas in my image, so to speak, but ffs at least let me meaningfully affect the world... They've said we can but that remains to be seen. It would still seem like such a waste, though, to have all these huge events and then for it just to end... and everything went back to the way it was. Was is this, a sitcom?

I feel like I'm losing my point. I'm not the most eloquent when tired and/or brain dead. Hopefully I managed to make a little bit of sense. :P
Think I'll go get that coffee now...

What I meant with my status quo comment wasn't that I wanted everything to stay exactly the same. I just don't think the devs are going to let us turn their whole game setting upside down by demolishing all the carefully established power structures that they've spent so much time making lore for. Unless they want to basically start from scratch again with the next sequel, I think any such ending would be another "hearsay" retconned ending.

Yeah, I think we'll be able to disagree with our advisors about the factions and things like that and they'll still help us because the Breach is more important. I think only Leliana would have more trouble helping an anti-Chantry Inquisitor.

Let me break down the companions: In Inquisition, out of 9 we have 2 (Cassandra and Vivienne) who seem pro-Chantry. Maybe Blackwall too, but we really don't know. In DA2 we had 2 out of 8 (Aveline and Sebastian, plus Bethany if you had her). And in Origins we had 3 out of 8: Alistair, Wynne and Leliana.

Yeah, it's really unlikely that they'll let us permanently destroy anything.  They may need it for wherever the series goes next and if they don't, well, they'll find a way to have it destroyed regardless of the player's decisions.  Unfortunately, these games only offer the illusion of choice most of the time because they're still using the same time period of the setting for other works.  They'd be making multiple games every time if they really let us decide to completely destroy the Chantry or re-instate it as the supreme power or whatever.

I mentioned above but the seeming bias probably comes from the Inquisition being founded by powerful, devout members of the Chantry.  And the two devout members of the Chantry that you're stuck with the whole game.  I'd bet the one companion who won't ever leave is Cassandra, too.  So that would raise 3/4 people you're stuck with as Andrastians.  It's not a bias of numbers but there does feel like there's a bias nonetheless.

I'm always okay with staying up! It's the getting up in the morning that can be difficult ha ha ha! But whatever. It's a fun experience. And if I was really concerned I'd sleep. : >

I really hope DA gives you those options. If the game is as expansive as it says it is, I would hope such options would be possible. Personally I usually go the clear-cut 'righteous' way, especially in first play-throughs. Mass Effect I was pretty Paragon until the last game where my Shepard was just done with a lot of people and went more equally Paragon and Renegade. Then again, I felt like ME3 was a bit better at making renegade options less 'errgggg, eff you' and more 'I'm being aggressive, this is my aggressive choice'. I'm not sure what I'll do this time around. I guess it all depends on how I 'feel' about the characters I roll. What I'd honestly enjoy is if there's not clear 'good' or 'bad' path. I think that's what some are hinting towards for this game. And while it's a bit more stressful for me as someone who likes to be 'good', it would make for a more facinating story.

Oh I had missed your previous reply, sorry. While I see what you mean, the fact they said the Inquisition didn't have to be pro-Chantry despite its beginnings (and hence the core: advisors + Cass) makes me think the numbers are important. You can surround yourself with non-Andrastians thus making your position stronger if you want to play that way.

I... think this is directed as me? "Staying the same" was wording I used. If it is, I wasn't objecting to your response. Just stating my own thoughts to Carpool's theory. I get where you're coming from, yet at the same time... I feel like with the way Inquisition is set up (this whole "world in flux" setting) they should give us the option? Again, not to demolish it. While I'd love to abolish the Chantry, I don't expect to reasonably be able to. It's just something I'd love to do if constraints weren't a thing.

But demolishing something and altering it are two different things. I guess what I'm looking for is a middle groud? And with them asking questions like "will you choose order or chaos?" it doesn't seem like an unreasonable thing to look for.

Apologies if any of this is coming out muddled or unclear. I am under heavy fire from the sleep goblins atm and it's causing my thoughts to be a bit clouded. I'm currently injecting caffeine through an emmmergencyyy induction port so hopefully that should help.  ^_^

Yooo, I'd love being allowed to actually disagree. In DA2 all I wanted to do was yell at people like Elthina and Meridith but I was stuck in this forced complacency most of the time and it was goddamn maddening. And the few chances you DO get to talk back... They have no weight. They're pointless. And it's like, well great. That was useless. Felt very much like a child being dragged by the arm...  <_<

I'd also enjoy it if they fought me on it. I don't want characters to bow down to me just 'cause I'm the pc. But I also don't want to be crushed under the weight of their plot armor or something either, you know? Let both of us behave according to our personalities, pls. Agency ALL THE THINGS!!

Oh, I agree with you. That was my initial concern but then I read them say we don't have to play it pro-Chantry and I thought: ok, that might be good enough. It's initially a Chantry thing but we can struggle against it and steer it in another direction once we grow more powerful. It makes sense that not being pro-Chantry would be an uphill battle, after all. As long as we're not railroaded into supporting it, I'm okay with it.
