I didn't really get along with her. I tried at first (I do like Sera as a character) but I didn't like the way she treated my lavellan. So aggressive and being ignorant by saying '' no way even part of it could be true '' basically. So she should be glad that my lavellan is nice. If she would've said to me that everything I say is stupid I would've got so mad at her. Apologized after unless she would've continued but really saying that '' even if you disagree with me you don't need to try to have a fight with me just because I think differently. '' 

gosh that really pissed me off and also the face thing. Really Sera? You cannot even understand that even if it doesn't mean a s*it to you it could hurt someone's feelings.. also just after that break up.. so rude.. even though she didn't know what happened but still. 

 

I've found it's much easier to get along with Sera when not playing a very elfy Lavellan.  I think she's a great character, just hard to get along with when you RP in a certain way.

 

I don't understand why people find Sera's response to fLavellan's reason for removing the vallaslin surprising? Sera is an insensitive ass, she doesn't hide that fact. She also doesn't hide her low opinion of the dalish, it's practically the first thing out of her mouth when you meet her. I understand why people don't like her, I just don't get why people are surprised by her response.

 

It's not what she said, it's how she said it.  Lavellan has just had her heart broken and goes to speak to a friend.  She opens up about something deeply personal and just gets insults thrown at her.

 

My pet theory about Felassan is that;

He's (probably) dead and that the person he was talking to at the end of TME was Solas.

 

Rather than kill him to hijack his body as some have supected, I think that Solas drained his power from him because he needed that pick-me-up after his long slumber, like he does at the end with Flemeth. Unfortunately, Felassan's power - as strong as it was - was still not enough to open the Orb, so he was forced to find other means to open it, leading to his decision to get Corypheus to do the deed instead?

 

Why couldn't he steal power from Corypheus then? Perhaps it's the same as why according to Flemeth, souls cannot be conferred on another by force, (ignoring for a moment that the Blight seems to break this rule), so that power would need to be given willingly? Felassan would have relucantly accepted sacrificing himself since he idolised Fen'Harel and Flemeth lets herself be taken likely because it's part of some greater scheme of hers?

 

It wouldn't have work on Corypheus or someone like Abelas because neither would give up their power willingly. Corypheus would probably fight to the death before ever giving up his power, while Abelas wouldn't let his go either, because even if Solas revealed himself and his true nature, Abelas is a servant of Mythal... so unless it was her will, why should he care what the Wolf wants, he doesn't answer to him?

 

Solas and Felassan being two distinct people would also perhaps explain why when Abelas asks about "Elven such as you" still existing in the world, Solas replies that there are, which he would know if he'd met Felassan previously. And he'd still technically be telling the truth, that some elves have survived into the modern age... whether they remained living however is a convenient technicality?

Felassan is clearly very afraid of whoever his master is. He's avoiding sleep, avoiding the Fade, knowing something could or would happen, especially if he came back empty-handed. Felassan is also pretty jovial and essentially a Fen'Harel fanboy when he talks about him. Totally different, a certain reverence but not fear. Whose vallaslin he wears is probably the key. I kind of doubt, given what we know about a certain butt grabbing elf's attitudes toward free will and slavery,, that Fen'Harel would even have vallaslin to spread. I'd be surprised if he did, though it's not entirely out of the question for it to be something he renounced once upon a time.

It would just be this weird dynamic. And there are people who interpret the Solavellan relationship as sexless. I totally do not see a sexless relationship there but it's left open to interpretation.

 

I don't think there's anything wrong with wolf cubs/elf babies as long as it's an option, not forced on the player.  That way people who enjoy a chaste romance/RPing an ace!Lavellan can play the romance without feeling excluded.

I literally waited sth like 15 minutes or more whether to kiss him or not.. then I forced myself not to kiss him because I knew he dumps you but I didn't know WHY so I thought like: stupid bioware making no sense again... I already lost Thane.. NO BROKEN HEART THIS TIME!!  Well I went on Cullen romance just did the beginning of it.. was spoiling a little bit of Solas romance.. until.. before I even finished the game I read... ON YOUTUBE SOMEONE'S COMMENT: Well.. he is an elven god after all

I hadn't even reached the part where you read more about Fen'Harel and in the Origins I never paid attention to those.. I was an idiot at that time so I never read any notifications etc. Even though I was an elven rogue. 

my reaction was like this:

 

'' ..................................... * after 5 minutes * WHAT THE F**!?!?!?!?? ''  *Goes to search everything*

 

After getting the info: 

* Opens the game * '' **** CULLEN **** MY BROKEN HEART I'M GONNA GO FOR IT (not just because he is a god but because now the whole story actually made sense and had the perfect meaning to it which I always want in the game) '' 

And so I made my elf and sorry for telling this whole story XD But after that I read all the elven history etc. Started to see notifications and stuff and so I made a really elfy elf. Solas was approving everytime I said sth to him (only few occations) on the first gameplay XD 

 

but I think If I created an Qunari. I would be as a renegade shepard (mine was renegade. I romanced Thane because I always thought that it would be cool that Thane is so calm and gentle so he would be the one calming my shep down and affecting her in a positive way. X3

My Mahariel and Lavellan are both very elfy (if I'm going to be Dalish then I'm going to be the most Dalishly Dalish I can be).  So I found it very hard to befriend Sera in my first game. But my Adaar is getting along much better with Sera.

^^^ Agreed. Sera got along well with my m!Trevelyan (and got the cookies on the rooftop scene) but didn't really get along too well with my Lavellan since I RPed my Lavellan as quite elfy. It was frustrating in my Lavellan PT but at the same time, I quite liked that I couldn't get along with everyone in the Inner Circle. xD It added a bit of realism to it.

Re: the babies issue. It would always have to be a player choice but the option would need to create a whole separate path for those who choose that....and what point in a game it might serve. What would it take in resources? If 80% of characters made were human, according to BW, then a portion of the remaining 20% were  elves, a portion of those were female and a portion of them went for Solas.

 

I think Kieran is going to be kind of a unique choice for this series.

I know I am super late to the party but...I just finished my first playthrough of DAI......and I have a problem.

 

I am listening to the saddest music ever...on repeat.

 

I am literally drowning in parts of Solas tumblr....

 

I have made 4 new characters and everytime I can't stop myself from hitting flirt options with Solas because for some reason I can't seem to roll anything but an elf. I also find myself skipping most conversations I have already seen now.....unless Solas is there...

 

I feel like I have totally embraced this hellspiral that is Solas&Lavellan.....

 

All while curling up into a ball eating Nutella straight from the jar.

 

I will most likely just be observing this thread....but I just had to throw my plea for help out there. However I'm pretty sure this thread will just end up enabling. I'm happy with that too.

Fen'Harel is in the info you get in the ancient temple, though Flemeth does call him Dread Wolf (though this seems more modern, Dalish). It's entirely possible he even had another name but I'd say Fen'Harel is more likely since, from what we can tell, he was known as a god of rebellion and also likely to have had a different temperament, even if similar values.

I don't personally have any issues playing a male PC. However, I do tend to prefer games that allow me to create my own PC (and further imagine their life, traits and backgrounds). That isn't to say that I can't enjoy set PC's, since there are plenty that I do. Just simply a preference. BW games are a good "go-to" for that type of PC.

As for TW, I tried to play TW2, but I absolutely blew, at the combat. This didn't stop me from picking up TW3 though. Glutton for punishment (though the combat seems fine so far....go figure *shrug*). Had to purchase it for the Xbone though. My PC would most likely disappear in a puff of smoke, if I tried to run the PC version on it.

I did finish another Lavellan on Friday. After the breakup, I rp'ed that she got a little "stupid" (ya know, emotionally off kilter). Grabbed just IB to go fight a few straggling enemies, and one dragon. Then I popped her over to the BE and added some new scars. Also, I got this weird idea for her, that the "anchor" - along with her wacked out state of mind - turned her outer irises a deep red (the inner iris is green). No worries though, she was meant to be my overly wrought, "bad-idea-jeans" Lavellan, once the breakup occurred. She will be interesting to play, once more DLC comes out. You know....the one with a certain ancient elf/wolfie-god. Right? RIGHT?!?!

Kieran is unique for BioWare's romances in general*.  Garrus and Liara sort of jokingly comment on having/adopting kids, but there would be no reason to actually make kids an option in-game unless (like Kieran) it served some plot purpose.  For that and the reasons that you brought up, if children are part of the relationship discussion, it probably won't be more than a line of dialogue or two.

 

*except Aerie.  And the baby-in-inventory was honestly pretty dumb.

I too should really give The Witcher a try. Well, they both mean the same thing in different languages, but since the Ancient Elves and Fen'Harel predate the common language, they seem to prefer to use his original name in Elven and not bother translating it if they have learned the common tongue?

 

The Dalish however seem to use both interchangeably, treating Fen'Harel more as his proper name and the translation "Dread Wolf" as merely his epithet, since it pretty much sums up his character in their eyes?

 

I kinda wonder if he had another name originally and adopted the title of "Fen'Harel" as his nom-de-guerre when he started waging his own little rebellion against the other Elven Gods? It does sound like the sort of nickname you'd get for causing trouble?

 

(The Warden got a similar nickname, "The Dark Wolf", if they completed all of Slim Couldry's crimewave missions in Origins, while we hear of other legendary figures such as the "Black Fox" in DA2.)

 

Could be the same with some of the others in the pantheon as well, take Falon'Din for instance? That likely isn't his real name either because otherwise, we're supposed to believe that he was born with a name meaning "Friend of the Dead" and ended up working as a psychopomp?

I think fShep-Liara is the only pairing that I actively like the idea of kids with. At least in art and people's headcanons.

 

But yes, I was limiting my discussion to DA, but a Kieran situation is generally unique to BW romance in general.
