Okay, which one of you submitted this to DA Confessions (on our collective behalf)?
Spoiler
None of us did. The blog created the confession on its own because it's something that cannot be denied.
Margaery? Really? That makes me giggle
Why manipulate/half-truth your friend/LI in the first place? Who does that!
From what we see of Solas he doesn't seem to actually being a terrible person, but I get a LOT of concern when I read some theories.
What I'm afraid of is Solas hiding a part of himself that would actually warrant him the title of "The Dread Wolf" "The Trickster God."
His plan could be so important that he would disregard any friendships/love in hopes of achieving his "greater good."
Without knowing what he intended originally and not knowing what he intends to do now, it's so hard to not have doubt given what we know about Fen'Harel.
Someone with an important secret to hide? I mean, I get why he lied about so many things. He's not a mind-reader. He has no way of knowing that Lavellan might actually believe him. From his perspective, at best, the Inquisitior thinks he's crazy. At worst, they think he's a threat or a monster if quizzy is Dalish. I don't know if I would have told the truth either, in his shoes.
IMO it's also pretty obvious from the get-go that he's willing to break a few eggs for an omelette. His banter with Blackwall about the healer having the bloodiest hands, his approval of subtle or even manipulative actions on the Inquisitor's part, etc. That said, I don't think he ever tried to deceive Lavellan as to what kind of person he is. He is kind and compassionate toward others, but he's also proud, secretive, and dangerous. That comes through no matter what kind of relationship quizzy has with Solas.
If you're worried that the relationship isn't going to end well, I 100% agree. I think there's a very good chance that it all ends in heartbreak. As long as it's a good story, I'll be happy. But I also find it very unlikely that he'll be a full-blown villain. An antagonist, maybe, but not a villain. He's had too much sympathetic set-up for that.

I'm holding out hope that Bioware gives us a couple branches to go down. Possibly you could get a terribly sad, heart wrenching ending... a "take that!" ending, and perhaps something you'll have to work a bit harder for -- a happy ending.

Ooooooooh! /rolls around crying
I know it's coming and I know it will make for an amazing story, but I DON'T WANT IT TO HAPPEN!
All these days spent waiting sucks.

I would like that. I'm bracing for the worst mostly because if I don't get my hopes up, I can't be disappointed like I was after ME3
Once burned, twice shy and all that.
I only played ME3 after the Extended Cut was a thing so I avoided the months of initial reactions.
With Solas, since his character is more important to the series as a whole beyond any Inquisitor, even a Lavellan, I feel like things will have some sort of sad or bittersweet conclusion. Closure is what I would like to see, at least (bonus if a romanced Lavellan does learn the truth about him after all) though I would not say no to any possible happier ending.

'Closure' is the most important thing to get. I remember what the pre-EC version of ME3 was like and the worst thing about it was the complete lack of closure we got. I'm still not happy with the post-EC ending, but it's at least better on that front.
Exactly. I can take sad things, but when things are merely left wide open....nonono.
Just glad JoH is out tomorrow for everyone so we can hopefully move beyond it soon-ish and maybe get more hints at things to come.
Though I kind of have an itch to replay Origins.

I'm on a bit of an ME nostalgia kick at the moment. Whatever I initially thought of ME3, the series as a whole is still fantastic, and ME2 is probably my second favorite game of all time after Baldur's Gate. Nothing quite matches up to the epic-ness of the suicide mission, or the insane squeeing I did when I realized they actually made Garrus a love interest.
I've only done one full playthrough of ME, and I mean full, including all the DLC. I just needed emotional space afterward, since I played the entire thing straight through. I'd consider giving it another go, but I'm pretty much pleased with the way the decisions turned out and there is little I would actively want to change. Boyfriend keeps suggesting a deliberately renegade run but it doesn't give me as much satisfaction as playing imperfectly heroic characters. Also, it would feel so wrong not to romance Liara.
My first romance choice usually ruins me to some degree for other choices, as we can also see with Solas.
Though I like ME2, especially its characters, I didn't like ME2 as much as most people do, I guess. It feels too segmented and guided and I initially hated the new weapons systems and some of the other changes. There's too little Liara. (Lair of the Shadow Broker is amazing though.) I find ME1 to be the best in the series and then maybe ME3 and then ME2 are kind of tied. I do love the series, but I didn't like that it's less RPG as you go on, more shooter style gameplay, and is way more linear.
Well, I had thought about doing JoH after Solas leaves, but my current play through isn't even close to that point in the game. I also don't really feel like playing one of my old characters. Something to ponder....

Solas has some interesting dialogue in JoH. And IMO JoH was good enough where I'd consider playing it twice: once now to see his dialogue, and once after he leaves to get your quizzy back on her feet ![]()
Just finished DAI for the second time (played about 5 times up to What Pride Had Wrought...) and I just feel like I completely screwed up Thedas. Lmao! Elves given freedoms in Orlais, Leliana leading the Chantry, and Mages establishing their own college.
Now that I go back again and read Solas' codex I realize the Inquisitor and Leliana know that something's not quite right.
Gah! I went to Sola's room after the epilogue and a figure comes walking through! I was excited until I realized it was some random grey haired elf! D:

TBH it probably won't matter in the games. Regardless of who's Divine, she makes an effort to fix the problems of the previous system. Even Viv, the most orthodox of the three, makes changes. And we're probably leaving southern Thedas. We've had enough crises there for a whole Age and then some ![]()
Hello! Some art for you lovelies! ![]()
From Osatokun's stream. Fanart of a scene from the fic Apotheosis. Slightly NSFW (for finger sucking).

Solavellan comic. :<
Solas color palette.
Yellow Solas.
*sniffles* sad comic ![]()
Yes, it is sad.
Lovely, but also sad.
I have two perfect, yet stray lines for a potential Solavellan fic but I have no other ideas to wrap around them yet. Ah, the writing process.
I do have an idea for another Leliana-fCousland letter. Trying to decide if Alistair should be king or a Warden in that one.
But, I have work to finish first.
And I would like to play something tonight.
I really love it, Chu. I hope you bet bored more often. :-P
Please get bored and continue this. ![]()
I have feelings.

Seconded. You draw Solas beautifully!

See, there was totally a reason I asked if anyone else got Cullen-has-a-crush-vibes xD

My Lavellan was too shy to flirt with anyone but Solas (and occasionally Dorian for giggles), so I didn't really get crush vibes from anyone else. I did get...not exactly crush vibes, but hero-worship, quizzy-on-a-pedestal vibes from Blackwall in my first playthrough. Which really did not sit well with my Lavellan.

Mine had limited flirts with Bull and I think Cullen once or twice, and a few with Sera. I'm not sure if she did take one with Blackwall or not but I had the same impression.
Also, Blackwall you can flirt with even before you recruit him, and can even just leave him there after flirting with him. Kind of awkward.
