Actually, it makes me wonder if they really are affecting time at all or not simply just freezing the molecules of objects in place and holding them there with magic, kinda like in Charmed where Piper's "freezing time" ability was later retconned to work this way?

I figured it was basically magical time stasis.  If it were just magical carbonite,

I figured it was basically magical time stasis.  If it were just magical carbonite,

Spoiler

But if it was magical carbonite, still being affected by the passage of time even the object itself was "frozen", that might explain why;

Spoiler

And why we can walk around both the Old Temple and Silent Ruins freely, without getting frozen in time ourselves?

On a slightly off-topic note, did anyone else the first time they enter the Silent Ruins think the party would end up getting frozen or something? I was terrified of that happening, I was walking around constantly paranoid of touching anything?

That could have had the quest a lot more interesting, that in order to chase down the Venatori plundering the ruins and free some of our troops that'd gotten stuck as well, we had to navigate the maze to find the safe path through? Would have been challenging (and deeply frustrating) to have our party members get trapped if we got it wrong, as well as suffering a Non-Standard Game Over if the Inquisitor got stuck?

I miss some of the logic based puzzles we used to get?

Perhaps the key to immortality is having a spirit companion willingly "merge" or bound to you? Zathrian and the lady of the forest is proof of this.

Constant fighting and eventual overuse of blood magic probably scared the spirits away

So, I'm here to discuss a very important topic.

tumblr_inline_noz0224JCN1rs4ac1_540.png

I tried a reverse image search to see if I could find the gif of the wind at Haven but still can't find again (where is this important gif?), but instead, Google gave me quite the laugh with its suggestions for "visually similar images" -

Should we fear a slew of photoshopped images of Solas with stockings and suspenders...?

@Cee I attempted to find a gif but only found a hilarious tumblr post about Solas' package. It's totally canon and life completing. Some of the comments are funny.

I believe the suggested level is 20+. I did it at 23/almost 24 and hit the level cap of 27 while doing so.

Why do I ever go into threads (that aren't this one or Sera's fan thread) with 'Sera', 'Solas' or 'Elves' in the titles?

*grabs a cup of tea and settles back down in the blanket fort*

I have seen the world outside, falons.  It is not pretty.

Why do I go into other threads and get into discussions that always devolve into how [Insert Character Name] is responsible for everything from yellow snow to bunions, then getting heckled because I happened to suggest otherwise, or that everyone might be responsible?

*Pours a pint of tea*

'Tis not pretty at all out there.

That reminds me: I should also stay out of threads with 'Fiona' in the title.

Definitely could be. There's something to do with binding/merging/trapping spirits that will be important to the series, I think. Insert theories on the Old Gods, here. But if it was as simple as having a spirit bound to you/using blood magic, I wonder why it's not a common feat accomplished in the past thousand years? Maybe it requires a few other elements to make it work? Or maybe people just keep it a big secret?

On the discussion of Solas' package... how fun was that reddit thread which discussed the meaning of fenhedis lasa? And now whenever I hear Solas say it, I snicker. xD

I enjoy the fact we can have an actual discussion about Solas' package.

On a related note, I sort of started a new fic from the two perfect lines that were all I had from yesterday (though I went on to write two more letters in the Leliana-f!Cousland epistolary side series I started). Still, this is kind of the first time I'm directly connecting two of my Solavellan fics one right after another, so it should be fun to write.

I like her too, bugs me that people seem to scapegoat her for everything? If someone like Samson who's guilty of a lot of pretty awful things, can still become a Woobie and a Draco in Leather Pants for the fandom, then I should be allowed to like and defend Fiona, surely?

Question: If Vints use blood magic and blood magic makes it hard to enter the Fade -- how did the magisters do it? Does it tell us somewhere? Or maybe did they create the Blight in their attempts to enter the Golden City, as opposed to the consequences of them entering it? I know it was a "feat which required the ritual sacrifice of countless slaves and over two-thirds of the lyrium in the entire empire" and all, but what if it required their physical alteration as well? We know that demons and darkspawn blood don't get along, after all. And there is a rumor that Dumat created the darkspawn. Related?

Random, semi-related: when Solas mentions Falon'din and "the blood of those who wouldn't bow low filled lakes as wide as oceans"... it sounds like he's quoting something almost, doesn't it? We can only imagine what sort of blood magic one could work with that. -shivers-

Interesting thing about Kirkwall:

1. It's overall layout is that of giant magical rune

2. It had specially created groves meant to collect blood deep underground

3. Sacrifice of thousands or slaves per year

4. Tevinter magister built Kirkwall for unknown reasons other than there was "something" there. Its natural resources were discovere/ exploited

5. Solas says that ancient elves had magic that take years (centuries?)to prepare and take effect

more here:http://dragonage.wik...gma_of_Kirkwall

Kirkwall can very well be the resting place of Falon'din, it kinda matches his MO.  It's certainly not too far from Dirthamen's Temple

Maybe underneath Kirkwall lies a giant Magrallen-like device?

Kirkwall also lies at the foot of Sundermount, supposedly the site of the climatic final battle between the Ancient Elves and the Tevinter Imperium?

Was there something important there to the Ancient Elves that was worth defending? Merrill mentions that a lot of Elves were buried at Sundermount (or died whilst in Uthenera) and Mythal had a shrine located there?

The hatred Fiona gets always surprises me, as the sheer number of people who just reject the brainwashing theory.  The Templers were being controlled through Red Lyrium - it's entirely possible that the same thing happened to the mages.  I sometimes wonder if a lot of fans need everything spelt out for them - there's plently of evidence to support the theory without the writers having to hold our hands to make sure we follow the plot.  It's like the debates about Qunari gender that happened after Krem's tavern scene (I really should stay out of his threads too.  Love the guy, but there's always trolls in Krem threads).  It got to the point where Gaider - who isn't even involved in Dragon Age anymore - had to come and explain things that seemed perfectly obvious when you look at everything we've been told about the Qun and gender roles.

Plus, Fiona is by far the most resonable member of the Libertarian fraternity we've seen DA (but then, her fraternity includes Anders (sorry Cee), Adrian, Uldred and Jeannot...)

It's possible that the sheer amount of power gathered from the blood sacrifices allowed them to punch into the Fade.  Also, we don't know how much more difficult it is to enter the Fade if blood magic is used or if it increases with the amount of blood magic used.  It's simply possible that using blood magic makes it somewhat more difficult but (obviously) not insurmountably so and so Solas avoids it, much the same way he dislikes and avoids tea.
