Just want to share with you my first art of Solas, hope you liked it...

I think this is one of my favorite art pieces of Solas. You got the subtle emotion in his face so well.

So, this may sound a bit strange but I have a question about Dalish bathing habits... For headcanon reasons.

I'm on the side that they would probably bath separate once reaching puberty...but then again it could depend on the clan. Solas himself talks about how different all of the clans have become,
I kind of wonder how Solas would actually view it. I mean...there is that one little story of the Arlathan noble who wanted to court a woman but he needed to know who she was so he could ask her family for permission or something like that. So, they must have had pretty serious courting traditions in Arlathan? And if so, that wouldn't that mean the sexes bathing together would be pretty 'Whoa, hold on there!"
And on the note of elves courting each other, they probably both feel kinda weird then right? I mean....Lavellan is kind of expecting a pelt or something at some point but Solas isn't Dalish....and Solas may feel like he needs to be asking her family if he can court her but we all know how his meetings with the Dalish have gone. Then again, Solas was probably a rule breaker right? Maybe it's just Lavellan feeling awkward with that.
And if it is the case that they feel like they are in some kind of courtship block thing....maybe Lavellan more so than Solas.
Omg....that makes the waterfall scene even more....Solas even says he has been trying to think of some way to show his care....and that what he can give her is the truth....Lavellan must have been thinking "Yay a 'pelt'! Let's go do it under this beautiful waterfall like real elves!!"
Uhhh......if it's not one sad thing in this love story it's another.
I also think I just answered myself on whether or not my Lavellan and Solas "bumped bits" as Sera so eloquently put it.

Which reminds me, I should eventually get to writing this bit of my headcanon. Though I think I could use this tradition to maybe be a sad way to make them realize the end of their relationship, actually. Maybe. (My superpower is being a walking bunch of feels).
My superpower is causing Carver feels in people who don't even play mages.

IMO courtship rituals are the least of Solas and Lavellan's concerns considering all the other potential issues they have going on. Like, I'm sure it's awkward, but both of them already have to adjust to all the weirdness of being among mostly Andrastian humans. Of the four racial origins, Lavellan has the most culture shock to deal with in a very short period of time. So in my headcanon, all of the cultural weirdness stops fazing Lavellan after a certain point. She just learns to roll with the punches.
(also there's only so much sad that I can take)

I would agree with this. And I feel like they're drawn together by a bunch of different reasons but sometimes emotional intimacy becomes physical intimacy even without traditions and rituals under the right circumstances. Their body language from beginning to end, especially if in a romance, definitely shows greater physical intimacy as time goes on. (And it doesn't necessarily have to be sexual for those who don't want to read it that way - even though I do add that part.) Also everything Lavellan has to do, all of the quick change and looming world destroying doom kind of inadvertently tables the "where exactly is this going?" discussion. In the fic I put up yesterday, I included a reference to this...the discussion sort of silently tabled until after Corypheus while they just get through the day to day.
My Lavellan, I headcanon her as being a bit older and having already been through love and heartbreak and the evolution of certain relationships and such. Not that she forsakes traditions but there are also other factors both in her own clan, her culture, and within herself due to her previous experiences that have an effect.

If you can get over the gameplay/story weirdness, mage Hawke is awesome. Especially some of the dialogue options you get with Feynriel; that whole quest chain gave me all the feels.

Thanks. So it doesn't have any repercussions later on in the game then? Can I just run through it with an earlier save for the content and not worry about going through the final battle again?
You can run through it whenever. The only thing is, is that - if you hadn't already noticed - it's actually a bit tough. I recommend using a character that's at level 20.
You won't see any real mention about it beyond war table missions after you're done with the main JOH questline. Obviously, I'm unsure of how it will tie into the stuff later. Frankly, I think it's more of a way of foreshadowing and to get you thinking about what it means to be the Inquisitor and what the Inquisition really is supposed to do. Things may play into how you make decisions later on - meaning it may inform how you decide.

In my head I figured they had also for same reasons you guys give, but then I find the possibility of more sadness and it's like some sort of weird magnet thing and.....anyway. I have been trying to be more optimistic about the whole Solavellan romance and it's not easy. I'm finding out that tiny things trip me up and make it worse.

This. I keep hearing about how hard a dwarf or qunari Inky has it, but at least they're used to humans, and could even potentially be Andrastian. But Lavellan has lived amoung elves their entire life, is 100% guaranteed to have been raised in a different faith and comes from a culture that experiences a great deal of racism.

Carver's section in WOT2 sent me on a Carver hellspirial again.

Jo Wyatt's delivery of that line actually gave me goosebumps. There's a lot in those three words and she really gets everything across.
I also love being able to break Idunna's blood magic hold without a mage party member required.
Plus, everything involving Carver is just fantastic. And aside from the complete inability of everyone (including, I think, Sebastian) to spot that Hawke is a mage I really love the connection being a mage gives me to the main plot.

I think it depends on how you choose to play/headcanon quizzy. For me playing as Adaar, his merc company is all Vashoth or Tal-Vashoth, but obviously they get hired by people who are mostly human. And Adaar was in a leadership role, so he had to get used to working with a variety of people. He was a lot more comfortable with the Inquisition than my Lavellan ever was.
And, Cee, it gives a lot of different dialouge with Anders.
The tone and overall feel of Anders' story is rather different playing as a mage. My BFF and I both friendmanced Anders, and we came away with totally different feelings toward the character arc.

Oh, all the companions know. Except Sebastian. There's a banter where he wants to turn the mages in the party over the Templers, but there's no mention of Hawke. It makes me think he doesn't ever realise she's a mage.

I chose to headcanon that the banter took place out of Hawke's earshot. Because there's no way that my nutty maleficar Hawke wouldn't have turned around and murdered him on the spot for that.
+100 approval to Fenris for his response during that banter, though. He, Anders, and Merrill never get along, but he'd never even think of turning them over behind Hawke's back.
