Well, my favorite character is Arya, and whatever she will do or not do, she's not exactly a contender in the larger game. Other people I like seem destined for something bad but I just don't know at this point, and as with Solas, sometimes even if you sense something bad might be coming, you still need closure.

Religious fanaticism, real or for ambition that resulted in burning people, killing his own brother with underhanded magical weirdness, wanting to sacrifice children, and he doesn't even necessarily want the throne, he feels responsibility and duty to do it. Stubborn and kind of a hardass. Then he presumes to throw himself around and try to bribe people like Jon. His only redeeming qualities are the occasional snark and as a father. He's also boring a lot of the time. He kind of lost me completely when burning kids, his own nephew, became a remotely reasonable idea.
I tolerate him but I dislike him. His chapters aren't as bad to read since they're usually a Davos POV or others who are more interesting.

*catches up with thread*
I just wanted to share my thoughts on the whole drinking from the Well.
My Lavellan doesn't do it and the reason is actually what Cole says. Cole says something like "There will be so many voices in your head and you won't like them." My Lavellan took Cole around everywhere because she loved his insights and this one would have truly struck a chord with her. Selling her mind space would just cross the line for her in the pursuit of knowledge....especially since by this point in the Inquisition I can see my Lavellan becoming detached from the idea that she is the First of Clan Lavellan.
Plus, my Lavellan would actually kind of like and probably get along with Morrigan. My Lavellan loves being a mage and Morrigan loooooooooves being a mage and I can just see them having some very interesting conversations.

So, having not read Masked Empire yet, is there more to the whole "rabbit" thing than it being a racial slur. Cause my ears picked up on it, and I felt like it was equivalent to "knife-ears" with some possibly dark implications (my mind went to the idea of Orlesian hunting elvhen "rabbits" for sport). I also thought I heard it a lot in the ambient conversations during the Wicked Hearts, Wicked Eyes quest.
On a somewhat unrelated note, does anyone wish there was a third option to the whole blood magic conversation with Solas? With it being so taboo and forbidden I have a hard time RP a character that is all excited about it, but having had some conversations with Solas that I feel sift my Lavallen's prospective I felt like she would not necessarily be all "blood magic is evil". I really wish there was a third option with a "well, you've certainly given me a lot to think about tone."

The lack of a third option also struck me as being odd. Especially since a lot of Solas's convos (the spirit one, the post-Halamshiral one) give you the opportunity to express a wide range of opinions. Then again, blood magic kind of went on the back burner in DA:I plot-wise after being featured so heavily in DA2.

I was looking through my JoH screenshots to see what the final main boss' level was but apparently I took no screenshots during the battle. Boo. Will have to get some on my mage.
But I did find another example of my specialty....the laggiest, derpiest screenshots around, thanks to my five year old PC.
This is a JoH shot but I took off the text/context, so no spoiler.
My Lavellan is dignified, really.
Nia has those moments too.
..It was going to be such a nice shot, too. Way to go, classy lady.
I can't seem to get a good screenshot of them in this scene. She either has that look or Solas is covering his face with his staff. XD

I was actually thinking today about how blood magic must be something that all mages in Thedas feel at some point. Because it is basically drawing magic from blood instead of lyrium or the Fade right? And think about all the fighting people see in this world. Not to mention if you were a healing mage, how much blood you would be exposed to. Surely all mages on some level feel the power in blood and get seriously tempted to use when it is in front of them.
Ooo...that's an interesting thought then. Especially with all the fighting the Inquisitor does...and if Solas does open the Inquisitor's mind a little bit about it. I almost wonder if that alone would cause a mage to almost subconsciously draw on power from blood of fallen enemies in battle or something. Or healing wounds drawing from the blood coming out of a victim.

I have always thought of blood magic kind of like blood bending (from Avatar: the last airbender/Legend of Korra) except more ritualistic and with different consequences because of the darker themes in Dragon Age. (Demons and sacrifice and such.) It seems like something that you have to study and is much harder to master but it's obviously more powerful. I do wonder why it makes it harder to enter the fade though. I think I have read theories about it on here but I can't recall what they were. I always take the top right option "It seems interesting" for the conversation with Solas. "Interesting" doesn't mean I intend to study it for use. My inquisitor is just very inquisitive. She's the kind of person who would take things apart to see how they get put back together again. (Varric should keep Bianca far from her.) ![]()

I've kind of given up on ASOIAF and GoT at this point. The Venn Diagram overlap between characters I like and characters who could actually survive to get s*** done is increasingly small. And at a certain point, darkness-induced apathy really starts to sink in. I made it further than my boyfriend, though; he quit on Book 3.
(still pulling for Stannis the Mannis though)
That trope is the main reason I gave up early in book 6. It's sitting there on my shelf waiting to be read, but everything is just so damn dark it's hard to take sometimes.
I like your style.
I am disapointed that leaping into the dancing area didn't lead to a scandalised cutscene. I just got a fade out and teleported back to where I started.

'Rabbit' tends to be used by people probably wouldn't consider themselves racist but just consider elves to be so far below them that it wouldn't even occur to them that it's a slur. Some people who use it might even think they're being affectionate, instead of condesending and arrogant.
As part of his campaign against Celene, Gaspard managed to get her universities on his side and had them commission papers on how, since the elves have rabbit-like ears, they're basically animals and hunting them should be legal (Gaspard doesn't believe this. He just wanted to make the fact that the Empress was rumoured to have an elven lover as scandalious as possible. So... your mind went to the right place :I
Screw Orlais. Except Bria. She's cool.

My Inquisitor would also be very inquisitive. But I don't think blood magic would work out well for her, and not because of the whole Fade block thing or superstition. I like playing fire mages.....so everything just kind of cooks and cauterizes around her. Probably a bit of a road block for a blood mage.
Funny note on enjoying playing a fire mage....Dagna cracked me up with her "You want fire? The first request is always fire!" line. I was like "Dagna! I lovez you and wish I could take you aroundz!"

I do wonder why it makes it harder to enter the fade though. I think I have read theories about it on here but I can't recall what they were.
The only hint I can recall as to why blood magic might make it harder to enter the Fade comes from the Blood Mage specialization background in DA2:
Nothing inspires as much wild-eyed terror as the Blood Mage. Mages of this type take the raw energy of life and twist it to their own purposes. They can corrupt and control, and sustain their power by consuming the health of others, willing or not. The effects can be vile, but this specialization isn't limited to madmen and monsters. Many see it as the only form of magic that is truly free, because it's tied to the physical, not favors to spirits or demons. It remains an undeniably violent and self-destructive discipline, however, the Blood Mage must be careful. The temptation to take just a little more is always there.
Bolded emphasis mine. It may be that blood magic, since it draws from the mage's own life force and not lyrium or mana, functions a bit like templar powers do by rooting the mage in the physical world. That physicality may make it difficult to get into the Fade. Since the mage is basically substituting their life force for mana, it might even weaken their natural connection to the Fade. Gameplay-wise, I don't think blood magic is supposed to work on spirits, possessed corpses, or other enemies who are not "alive" (though that rule is spotty). It would also help explain why Meredith's super-charged templar powers were so worthless against my blood mage Hawke ![]()

Yeah.....I still drool a little when I see that scene. I'm pretty convinced this is one of those moments we get to see Fen'Harel without the mask moments. Granted the wolfier Fen'Harel. I also think the mask kinda slips off in the waterfall scene before they kiss and we see Fen'Harel again only in love and all that fluffy goodness.
But yeah, it's looks like that picture that make me want ro kill to see him go full on Fen'Harel on someone without the worry of giving himself away.
And this is pure speculation, but I'm pretty sure this is the look he used to get the robes off any elf lady he wanted back in Arlathan. Just sayin'.
