I'm all aboard the ginger elven babies train too, for my personal happy headcanon.  It's less that I think Solas would be a good dad (I actually think he'd be a bit of a disaster at first, especially with infants), and more that my Lavellan is one of my very few PCs who would be a good mom.  My PCs aren't usually the kinds of people who would even want to have children, let alone be any good at it, but I personally love kids.

 

(Also, did anything interesting happen in the last few days?  I missed my flu shot this year and I've been paying for it in semi-delirious mucous-ity   )

I think my Lavellan would be a good mom also and want kids. I always picture one of her favorite things back with her clan being teaching the children and having a fondness and respect for mother bears. Cause we all know how awesome mama bears can be. Well, if you think rampaging because you threaten their young is awesome.

 

Mama-bear-rampaging-mage Lavellan could be a very dangerous thing. Maybe it's better Bioware does NOT allow my Lavellan to have children.

Gotta keep the game going. Unfortunately it seems Solas is the plot device meant to do this. 

 

I don't foresee a situation like with Morrigan either. Whatever Solas is doing, he wants us far away from it. Which in itself is worrying but we already know he likes to lay everything he can on his own shoulders.

 

When we get the Wolf Hunt DLC, I imagine it'll be more of just a hint at what he's planning on doing. I highly doubt his story will get resolved in one DLC (at least I hope it isn't. This is the freaking Dread Wolf we're talking about. He could drive a whole game by himself after all the interesting lore we've been getting about him).

 

Would've been nice if the plot device weren't turned into a way to crush the hearts of players. But alas, the experience has definitely had its emotional impact. It made the experience better, especially going down that path the first time out.

 

Whatever DLC we get will not have the full extent of what's going to happen, but it also has to bring closure to the Solas-Lavellan relationship somehow, since we'll get a new protagonist in the next game.

She's also the eldest of three and thus has been very dutiful her whole life. Though she has loved other women and I'm thinking of maybe even headcanoning her with at least one human, so this following her heart and being an emotional person thing is a source of conflict.

 

As for kids, I think she'd be a good mother but circumstances would affect any of it. I picture her being careful with Solas and not threatening her duty with oops...elf babies.

Yeah, I agree with the careful part. I mean, the way I see it for my Lavellan is that duty must have always been a pretty serious thing even before Inquisition. I mean, getting ready to be the person to lead your clan is no small thing and it could happen at any moment. I guess for a male First, holding off on having children would not be as big of an issue because it would be his mate dealing with being pregnant and all that. For a female First it must be a different story though.

 

I guess this thought is only if you play a mage Lavellan though.

Mine is a rogue, but also as I headcanon her an older sister, first child, and clan provider/protector. She does take her duty seriously, but she has also had to look out for others in her lifetime.

I think my Lavellan sort of reminds me of someone but I can't remember who. Strangely, they look not that much alike but maybe Parminder Nagra from Bend It Like Beckham? Though my Lavellan is lighter and freckled and older.

 

I just found the image of my Lavellan/Solas in Fade Haven (the "kiss him" option) from my blog that comes up when you google Solas and reverse searched it. The "visually similar" results are funny.

 He had this grin. No wait, it wasn't really a grin. It could just as easily be a smirk, but Varric seemed to have cornered the market on smirks. The wily dwarf had so many, one for nearly every occasion. And it was not a grin, not like Sera's spilt faced smiles. Nor was it a sneer, though she was sure that he could wield it as one, much like Vivienne wielded distain with the curl of a lip and the raise of brow. It had none of the sometimes forced feeling full-faced gleam of Dorain's witty repartees. It wasn't the lopsided beam of Commander Cullen that came with puppishly pleading looks. It didn't come with the braying, brash laughter of the Iron Bull and it certainly was not the sly slivered upturn of Cassandra's lips, nor was it the quick flash of mirth that Blackwall seemed to pull out on rare occasions. Josephine's grin was too enthusiastically wide to be compared to it, while Leliana's was a small neat line, full of secrets. And though she knew there was something he deeply regretted in his past, the turn of his lips did not come with the thin-lipped wan and winsomeness of Cole. If anything his smile was a delicate thing, the barest up tick of his full lips, bringing out deep edge his laugh lines as well as the fullness and height of his checks. It chased away the stern determination of his stormy eyes and turned them into something bright, like sunlight striking on a lush meadow after the rains. For such the small gesture that it was, it had an astonishing effect on his features. The first time she saw it she felt as if she'd been given a gift, and it had not failed to make her heart race every time since.
