  I haven't gone anywhere, I've just been in the Feedback section.  I don't spend a lot of time in Story/Lore anymore, but the gay KISA thread is one place you'll find me.

By the way, I've seen a gif of Solas with a wolf pelt.  Is that a mod?

Which wolf pelt do you mean hun? The Battlemage Mail wolf pelt? Or has somebody done a proper wolf pelt over the head type thing? I haven't seen this gif...

Nope, I refuse to give up until I see a sad scene in front of me.

It's reasonable to assume that whatever he's about to accidentally mess up, we're going to have to fix. Of course that's not good news to him--especially after a life of his plans going massively awry time and again. He's lived a long life with too many mistakes already for his story to ever be considered happy.

Lavellan already proved to be a small little happy spot inside his sad story. I'm going to believe that happy spot is going to grow to an even bigger happy spot before we're done with their story together. Weekes didn't confirm the story of Solas' Lavellan is not happy, so live on, Optimism.

My anti-hellspiral song. I've listened to it every day since I finished the game and somehow it makes me stay positive. He's smart-stupid and he still cares. That's all I need. That's my Solas.

He's going to keep caring up until Lavellan gets a chance to plant her tiny little body in front of him and give him no choice but to shrug and go with it because why not (unless they possibly show us why).

peoples' thoughts on the Solas/Fen'Harel/related elven mythos content in World of Thedas Vol 2? :)

I didn't get much out of WoT v2 for my liking as far as elves go.

There is an Alamarri poem that relates to an elven poem which apparently has to do with Fen'Harel.

Not sure what this could mean exactly besides confirming the elves and humans had contact with one another. I guess it could also mean they possibly shared each other's gods, which in turn mean that everything is related and the Chantry's tales and the imprisonment of the elven pantheon are related. But this would be tinfoil hatting.

The Alamarri poem:

and the elven poem:

Woah, what? :D

I guess Solas wasn't entirely able to block him out. :D

This to me was one of the best bits of info to come out. Mostly because it gives me just the smallest flicker of hope that there could be a happy ending of some sort for Solas and Lavellan. I mean, if Cole could see the whole time who Solas is and what he plans to do and all that and still be trying to resolve the two of them...that's a good sign yes? I don't think Cole would try to heal a hurt just to cause even more hurt.

In fact, in Cole's post break up banter he just sounds like he wants Solas to tell Lavellan everything like he was going to at the waterfall. And then in cryptic Cole tries to.

Plus, and I guess this would really only apply to a Lavellan on good terms with Cole....but wouldn't Cole try to stop the relationship if he thought that was better knowing who Solas is and all that? That, or I wonder if Cole was telling Solas the whole time that he should tell Lavellan what's going on.

*sigh*

DLC!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I woke up today to have my heart crushed ... again.

But hey, we already know it is not a happy one, but maybe it will be somewhat less  tragic? :(

Art stuff. Hopefully it'll lighten the mood a bit. (I'm feeling depressed.) :(

Fen'Harel and Lavellan. An AU where Lavellan is Arlathan royalty.

Apparently June 3rd is National Egg Day.

Poor Krem is confused.

Adaar can't bake a cake with Solas.

Solas dreaming of what would happen if he told Lavellan the truth.

Aww... I can't take it anymore. Hello lovely people of the Solas discussion and fan thread (needs a new title). Cheer up. I'm usually skulking the edges of this thread, intently reading posts and theories while letting new information soak in but it's getting very depressing in here and it's having an effect on me. Think about this: We know Solas story is sad. We don't actually know how or why. All we know is that something happened that he regrets and it changed the world from the way he once knew it. So, I would like to cast my vote for team Optimism in the hope the sadness was in the past (that in truth, we still know nothing about) and the future can still be a little brighter. I am now returning to the fade........

Guys! I don't get what all the negativity is about! We have pieced together bits of Solas' past and we already knew his story was sad. He lost his people and his well intentioned efforts to help were all in vain. He even lost a friend (Mythal). But that is his story as has already transpired. It doesn't mean he will necessarily have tragedy ahead of him, or ahead of Lavellan. You broke the mold for him. I keep saying this but I honestly believe Bioware wouldn't stomp on our hearts without giving us a chance.
Okay?

My feeling is that for achieving his goal, Solas will have to do something really terrible, maybe even destroy the world to start anew.

When Cole says in his banter: “You’re real and that means everyone could be real.  It changes everything, but it can’t…” It means that whatever he is planning is no good news for the people of Thedas. Or maybe he'll even try to go back in time (like in Redcliff) to prevent himself from betraying the gods (explaining why he needs a lot of power) and change the future.

I guess we'll see, but if it means destroying the world and betraying your friends and family, I can't see my Lavellan doing that. She might tell Solas she understands what he's trying to accomplish and why, that she still love and respect him, but she have to stop him.

I'm not even sure Solas would actually respect someone who betray their friends and duty for a selfish reason such as being with the person you love. If you choose to go with him because you deeply believe in his cause, then it would be fine. He seems to respect people who can stand on their own, so dropping everything for a man, I'm not sure how he would react...

So maybe Lavellan can talk him out, fight and spare him, or help him find another solution (she's definitely wiser, more patient than him in my opinion and maybe come up with a better solution, or a compromise). Or maybe It's nothing as bad as I think and she will gladly help him achieve his goal :)

EDIT: And I have the feeling that he'll contact Lavellan from the Fade at one point. I mean, he's the Dread Wolf, so I'm pretty sure he can't be found unless he wants to. And if he wants to talk to Lavellan, or ask for help, he won't risk approaching Skyhold. He might trust Lavellan, but not the Inquisition.

So I'm pretty sure we'll get more Fade time with Solas. And they'll be alone. That makes it better.

I think Solas' story is a sad one no matter what happens but I believe that his romance can have a happy ending. It may not be sunshine and rainbows but reunion with Lavellan is possible and I keep hoping for that until somebody proves that it's not possible. I believe that the way to get him back is not easy but I guess that wouldn't be surprise. Getting him back doesn't necessarily cheapen his character because everything depends on how you get him back. You might need to make some sacrifices if you are going to take him back for example so depending on how you get him back might make the story even better. It's also possible that not getting him back cheapens his character. I mean if there is no way to get him back and the inquisitor is forced to fight against him in a final boss fight in the last DLC then in my opinion that would be quite lame.

Anyway, where are you when I would have needed a sensible person to discuss the notion of "Geralt follows his own path while Cassandra does not, so she is merely a hypocrite" over in the Cass thread?! ;)

Bioware likes giving us options. I'm really confident that Solas will have a chance for a happier ending. I, too, despise that so many people think an ill fate is the only one awaiting our egg head.

The only reason why I think that may not be the case is because they are removing choice for bigger things. Small things that may sort of color the world - sure - but the option between killing off a MAJOR character or no.  That's different. His continued existence needs to be meaningful lest he get relegated to the same fate as Mythal/Flemeth did - which was plot hole cleanup.  I think they are trying to avoid that in the future.  That's why you can't kill any of your party memebers.  That's why you can't die.  I think whatever is going to happen with Solas is what we will all get. It may play out a little differently - in that you may fight him if antagonized or you may not if friendly.  If he dies he will die for everybody.  Which I certainly don't think would be a bad thing.  I think it would be sort of sad but beautiful.  But I've been on that train for the entire time so...

I've also pretty firmly left the Solas sads.  I still have a very special place in my heart for Solas. Probably always will for a lot of wonderful personal reasons(some for the close friendships that I've made throught he forum) but I'm more interested in seeing the overall store play out in a good way.  There was a lot to sort of be 'meh' about in this game.  JoH seems to have tried to re-right what they messed up on in the main game so I'm hoping the DLC is equally as strong if not better.

Ooo, do share if you haven't already! I love hearing about other headcanons. =D

Oh, I mentioned it a little while back but it basically shakes out like this: if Solas dies and doesn't get derailed into a straight-up villain, my Lavellan's going to pull a Flemythal with his soul wisp and take up the mantle of the Dread Wolf.  That way the two of them can share his burden, and he never has to be alone again.

Yeah, we're definitely not going to have a story choice like, say, the Dark Ritual again.  Though when Mythal was slain the first time, she wasn't really gone.  So if you do wind up having the option of Solas dying or not, he might still be able to fulfill his story role even if quizzy did kill him or contribute to his death.

Even if Solas doesn't do it, I have to admit I would not mind seeing the Pantheon descend upon Thedas.....I mean....even if they are crazy and would probably be the bad guys.....

Plus, let's all admit. They would be hot. Right. I mean......I'm not alone in thinking this?

This is why I'd be 100% okay with 'the elven gods return and cast doom upon us all'.

I think the chances of the veil being lifted (rather than torn) are very slim, but tbh I can't see how else the elven lore would return in a meaningful, plot-impacting way. I doubt we'll see as many elven ruins after we leave the dales.

Can I join you in the Team Optimism flag waving?

Northern-Italy-Hetalia-anime-26006260-43

I try to be optimistic but all the negativity on Solas' fate (on here and on Tumblr) keeps pulling me back to the sads. :( Heck that Dragon Age confession of not wanting Solasmancers to have a happy ending (damn you, confessor!) got me sooooo mad I just can't even... Grrr...

But yeah, we don't know for sure his endgame is just tragedy and tears, even though people seem to think that is what's going to happen. So I'll join you in refusing to believe that all we'll get is sadness until we see it on-screen with our own eyes.

Because I am stubborn as hell.

I'm also on the side of tragedy here (sorry guys). Seems most likely.

Although to be honest, in the case of my Lavellen, she would likely jump ship without a doubt if Solas revealed his intentions and identity. The moment my Lavellen removed her vallaslin was the moment she decided to break away from her clan for good: that's a life she's not returning to, however reluctantly, whatever path she ends up on now. The Fen'Harel thing... well, the irony wouldn't escape her, but I doubt that'd put her off. She would likely dissolve the Inquisition and disappear with him into the fade with him without a regret. She assumed once this was all over they'd both disappear and just spend the rest of their lives travelling together.

Basically, I don't see why it has to *necessarily* end sadly. I want a chance to earn a happy ending, at least.
