Speaking of JoH, I'm currently playing the DLC and I must say those damn spiders are quite annoying. =___=;
Also, playing it post-breakup but not post endgame because I'm pathetic and want to hear some Solas dialogue and want to have him around with me.
Those spiders are endless. ENDLESS.
I thought the ones that kept respawning in the Hissing Wastes were annoying. I knew nothing of true annoyance.
The Avvar Champions were also the bane of my existence. Crushing poor Cole with a big hammer swing.
I haven't done the DLC with my Solas romancer. I wasn't sure whether to go post game or not for Solas banter. That face...that face hates Solas so much. Haha. I so love my angry face Lavellan
she's a future antagonist in the making. Solas is a dead man.
I did bring Solas along for some of it with my Male Lavellan though. The Lavellan that still likes Solas
I kept subbing him in for Cole who I was trying to trigger some banter with but isn't so good for my nightmare layout. Also, I had a really rough time fighting Gurd because of the party he kept throwing (seriously dude. Stop bringing in so many friends to join the fight) so Cole was sent out and I fought him and the dragon with Solas on my team, because Solas brings this face to the battlefield.
It makes sense for my Warden too. She's an elven mage who loves research and kicking ass (being a Warden is basically her dream job). She's still in a romance with another Warden so it makes a lot of sense that she'd be researching a way to end the Calling. What doesn't make sense is staying away when all the stuff with Coryfish was going down, especially when her boyfriend got involved. After getting his letter she would've been right back in Ferelden (and that wouldn't take long - she's a shapeshifter. She can fly).
Doesn't Alistair say the Warden is following a crucial lead? One that could be lost if they were to drop it?
If they are as far West as I think they are then it would take months for them to travel back (the non shape shifting Wardens that is
). Also, getting mail to them must take forever. Not only to get it all the way out there, but to actually track them down and hand it over.
I kept thinking that if you have no soul you left Alistair in the Fade, surely your romanced Warden would come back for answers. So why didn't they show? But then I started wondering about the time line between HLTA and getting the word sent out.. What if they are on the way back, but it took so long for them to get mail and get sailing that you have reached the end of the main story before they're back? FOR DLC POTENTIAL!? (never going to happen
but I'll still keep suggesting it. Aha.) I know there was the rough estimate of a 3 year span for DAI. But for all I know the first 2 years are wandering around the Hinterlands and then everything after Skyhold happens fast. Or it might just feel that way...
I have two Canon Wardens because of my crazy alternate timeline headcanon mashup nonsense. Ahem.
My Dalish Warden wouldn't rush back. Sure, she was loved by all her crew and I'd like to think would swing by to help her King bro' Alibear. But she never wanted to be a Warden, so I'm happy with the idea that she's out there with her Vigil's Keep drinking crew, er I mean Wardens. And her lover Zevran, pub crawling and finding a cure so she can live out the rest of her days as a smexy assassin with Z. And help out her King Bro so he can be fertile and what not. I'm guessing that the letter Leliana gets out to her makes it sound like it's all under control, otherwise I can't imagine why the Warden would just send a 'good luck' response back instead of being more concerned. Unless BW has decided that our Warden's are all total jerks xD
As for my Elven Mage Warden. She romanced Alistair but isn't the type for hanging round castles. She's a fierce warrior. If she didn't have the taint she'd be immortal. Freaking battletank Arcane Warrior.. Anyho. smartest of my Wardens and would definitely be off learning more about Darkspawn and taints in order to help out her fellow Wardens. I imagine she'd get updates from Alistair where he'd probably warn her that all the Wardens are going crazy and it's particularly bad for the mage ones. So stay West.
Then of course I sent all the Wardens away in that playthrough.. So er... She hasn't really got a place to come back to and be Warden-y because who the heck knows what became of Vigils Keep.
After all those sovereigns I spent making that place usable as well..*grumble grumble grumble*
I'm just rambling now. But yes, in my head I have made the Warden situation work! Sorta. We'll just ignore when I play In Hushed Whispers and everything has gone to hell in a year and neither Hawke of the HoF are mentioned to have done anything. Er, let's just pretend that no news was coming out the South of Thedas during that time so they just never found out...yeaaah.
