The separation of the Dalish into microsocieties of their own could technically lead to some skepticism with regards to this view/acceptance of the new knowledge. One would hope that if a Lavellan does try to spread some of the information learned, there would be more open minds and less 'well she's gone crazy/that mark ahs done something to her/where's the proof? etc' ---which is going to be part of my return to clan fic that I should really get to actually writing.

Yeah, true. If Bioware is trying to write diaspora (which I believe they most certainly are), they need to take into account real life experiences of groups who live with it if they want the audience to relate. Like if I'm thinking in terms of my experience with diaspora, I'd say most clans would react respectfully. Maybe shocked at first and definitely skeptical like you said, but pomposity and willful ignorance would be ooc and that's what I'm worried about. Fingers crossed they don't go in that direction.

flower/ink is really adorable and probably one of my favourite Solavellan modern AUs (I usually hate modern AUs as a rule, but there's a couple of good Solavellan ones). It's genuinely quite funny. And portrays Lavellen's friendships with characters like Leliana and Varric really well. I particularly really like how it retells Solas' rebellious political past in a modern setting - All New, All Faded For Her is translated into a modern setting in the best way.

 

ALSO OH MY GOD TEA. Does it ship to England? I need this in my life. (I know, I know, representing all the national clichés here).

If they don't ship it now, they will once the Royal Navy is done with them.

To get the war table mission for the schematics, be sure to head back to the main camp after you are finished with the main quest. Talk to Kennrick(sp??), one last time, and the new mission will pop up, next time you are in the war room.

I think that a lot of clans would indeed react respectfully as you say, but I wouldn't be surprised if at least a fringe faction would be arrogant about it - figures like Abelas aren't exactly friendly towards modern elves, they don't consider the Dalish their equals and hearing that, well, some Dalish might despair, but a lot might go into ego-defensive mode and claim that if the ancient elves don't want any part of them, then they lose the right to lecture about the truth of their past (or they might outright claim that the ancient elves are frauds and it's all some hoax). It's not an uncommon reaction, they learn that they are in the wrong but because of the hostile mode of presentation, either they are overwhelmed by the shame or they begin to blindly defend their position in order to salvage their dignity and they will rationalize their "mistakes" with claims of righteousness. Until time passes anyway, and they begin to realize that they're behaving like fools. It would seem unrealistic to me that all Dalish would back off and change their ways once they decided that there is truth these claims, especially since the clans are so different because of their nomadic lifestyle and infrequent gatherings, rather I think that this would be a very divisive revelation that could split the clans roughly into "apologists" and "traditionalists" with a lot of in-betweens.

I don't usually read modern AU fics but I've grown to appreciate them after reading Message Sent. The lack of new Message Sent chapters left me wanting for more so I'm looking for something to fill the void. xD

EDIT: So far, I've read modern AU fics with Solas as a professor, Solas as a baker, that short drabble/fic/prompt that Aicosu did of Solas as a doctor, and now I'm going to read a fic where he's a florist. xD

 

I wonder what profession he'll be in the next modern AU fic I'll get into?

Apparently on the next story DLC, you won't necessarily play as the Inquisitor, but it's not confirmed 100%.

Depends on what the DLC is. If it's about whoever got left in the Fade, like Hawke/Alistair/Stroud/Loghain, I really would like to play something like that.

I'm sure it would be good.....just a wee bit of a downer in some obvious ways.

 

Team Optimism is starting to feel pretty difficult. I do understand though that this is not anything official from the DA team so I won't lower my optimism flag to half mast just yet.

So yeah, like dawnstonedagger said, depending on the DLC maybe you'll get to play as whoever got left in the Fade. Or whoever went to Weisshaupt. Or heck maybe you even play as Solas and see what he's up to after that ending. xD Or what if you play as Solas before the events of DA:I? Before the explosion of the Conclave? (My imagination is going wild with the possibilities.)

Mmm....I like the pre-conclave idea actually. And I honestly do think whatever it is, it would be good.
