Well, I just watched this for the first time and it cheered me up. Sorry if it has been posted before. Surely it has.

Actually the only way I think this could be interesting but I don't think this would happen because it would force everyone to play as a mage is if we play as Solas and get to romance our own damn Inquisitor. That would also be a little weird, but I'll take it.

Oh.  I would take that with a grain of salt. I haven't heard that anywhere and unless she can source that, I think it's just rumor. She's a reporter and EA and Bioware have been so tightlipped about DLC  that I think anything said by anyone other than them is just somebody talking out of their butt.  They may have one story DLC where you play as someone else, but people liked their Inquisitor and we alread had a story DLC come out - JOH technically was - and obviously you played as the Inquisitor.  I don't see why Bioware would change that.  They have acknowledged that people want certain stories continued - the Solas one being part of it - it doesn't really have the same impact without the Inquisitor.  So I don't see why Bioware would remove you from the game yet.

 

EDIT: I do want to add though - I think there will be at least a 2-3 more story DLCs and I think the last one is going to be the one dealing with Solas.  It's just going to set up what's to come in the next game.   I think every other one will be important and interesting. It'll hint at things to come or inform how the world will change.  But I think the Solas story is going to be the big finale.

As long as they're not only giving us two bits of DLC then I think this sound like a fun idea.  We didn't play as the Warden in DC or LS for Origins, or as the Warden from Awakening onwards depending on whether they made the US or not.

I do like what Scout Harding said at the end about people seeing the Inquisitor as being more than a person but also less of a person; and that they don't see that you are just a normal person who fought the Avvar and killed a dragon. It just sounds so... poignant? I'm not sure of the correct term at the moment.

 

Also, that Storvacker's trial caught me by surprise. xD

 

Now I'm going to wait for the next DLC announcement. Bioware? Hmmmm? *blink blink*

That's the first thing I did when I started the DLC. Actually, I started off by collecting shards and doing some of the sidequests before doing the story-related stuff. xD

I'm not opposed to more DLC like JOH or piecemeal, but I would really enjoy an expansion at this point (ala Awakening). Featuring Solas of course!

IIRC the majority of DOA dlcs added story content to the game plus there was a major expansion so there was room for two dlc featuring different characters but DAI is different. It's highly unlikely we'll get the same amount of dlcs as DOA, unless we count appearance packs, and BW are done with expansions. With the small number of dlcs going to be released I'd prefer sticking with the Inquisitor, I'm going to be saying goodbye to her (and him and the others hers) soon enough.

All of what you said. Sigh, there were a lot of feelings in the second half of that DLC. A lot of people felt there wasn't much to JoH, but there really was. I mean, not furthering the overall story, but if one is invested enough to see some of the parallels and ways the lore might take things, the codex about the gods, Ameridan and Telana. A lot of this has more impact if you're a Solas romancing Lavellan but it's still not insignificant to any Inquisitor. when reviewers kept dismissing JoH as "more of the same" I was like....'Are you just hanging out on the surface and looking at the gameplay or are you thinking about any of this?' I was also a little miffed/surprised that I didn't get the call to review it, but oh well. Even if someone weren't thinking about it much, the quests and gameplay were integrated better than many of the main game's areas. It was a design improvement overall.

 

Storvacker's trial is the best. Just hilarious. What did you do with her?

 

Also, the reactions at the war table when you invite the exile Avvar mage to come be an agent are great.

This is what I think too. Anything with Solas might come towards the end of the released DLCs because it'll probably be the DLC that hints at what happens in the next game. Because I'm not worried, I'm actually super intrigued as to what a story DLC without the Inquisitor could be! If this is all legitimate, of course.

^^^This. I actually quite like the DLC, Loved the lore on the Avvar and how they view spirits as well as the parallels between Ameridan and his crew to the Inquisitor and their crew (and by crew I meant the original 3 companions start with at least xD). And yes, also the parallels between Ameridan and Telana to a Lavellan in a romance with Solas. Lots of feels and poignant moments. (When I went to gather Ameridan's memories... ugh, the feels.  )

 

As for Storvacker, I chose to let her join the Inquisition. xD I haven't done the war table mission that appeared when I chose that yet though.

I'd have liked more story-related content and interactions with NPCs, but I really enjoyed all the Avvar lore, getting to interact with an Avvar hold, the story of Ameridan, the new power, the feels on the island... 

 

Storvacker's trial is glorious, with all the bear puns. I wanted to respect the clan totem animal, but I couldn't resist recruiting her. The table mission when you can send Sky Watcher to the hold is great, too.

In terms of DLC I wouldn't worry too much - it's just an off-hand rumour, she's a reporter, and she said 'maybe' rather than 'definitely'.

 

I have a lot of faith (heh) that they'll return to the issue of Solas' depature/reveal in DLC, however indirectly. It's such a sudden reveal, with so little detail (we still know so little about Fen'Harel and his lifetime, for instance) that they'd be foolish not to follow up on it. I reckon that if we deal with it we'll probably get a lot of background lore, and (maaaaybbeeee) a brief encounter but any meaty plotty stuff will have to come next game.

 

On the bright side, I am 100% sure Solas will turn up next game. Not sure in what capacity, but it's something to look forward to.

ummm yeah anything I hear as maybe and rumor I take with a grain of salt and file it under rumor until I hear it officially confirmed  from one of the devs or they make an official announcement for dlc.

But good to see. I spent a long time trying to make a good looking Inquisitor and I want to keep playing as them through all the DLC 

 

I did try and read through the thread about it over in the non Spoiler section but I've put so many people on ignore that the thread was just full of empty spaces. Haha. I'm guessing those empty spaces were those people going "Good. Worst protag eva. TW rulez."   much love to the ignore button being a thing here.

First guy who went on the list made a point of complaining about how much he hates Dorian in every, even non relevant thread. 

The next went on because she kept asking to have Sera removed from the game completely and I felt my brain cells die from her posts.

Another was just a troll and I think is actually banned now.

And today, two new additions from people who hate DAI but post here more than I do.

 

It was foolish of me to think that this long after release the people that hated the game would have moved on with their lives. Especially as so many great games have come out since then.
