See? Elf root.

He is one very special case. Although I must admire his dedication. I feel if I was as passionate about my career as he is about Cassandra's appearance then I would be earning big bucks by now
I can understand what it's like to be a fan of a series and find a game come out from it that is disappointing. I've had that. But I only ever talk about my disappointment when it happens to come up in conversation. My moaning won't change what happened and I'll just make myself sad if I spent all my time dwelling on it.
I'd much rather sit and dwell on all my crazy DA headcanons. I'll keep dreaming up plots until I get more story
His dedication is quite amazing, I'll give him that.

I know that feel
I kind of aim too.
Cole's tag has a similar issue...
I don't think this person really gets that it's not just about the romance
Uh, it's for any questions.

Yes, it's rather annoying seeing pictures of feet (and sometimes even more lewd stuff) pop up when I search the Solas tag on Tumblr sometimes. ![]()
Tumblr tagging in general and search can be a bit weird. But yes, the feet.... ![]()
I see comments sometimes from people who never bother with the depth Solas has or misinterprets his personality. Things like ignoring how much pain he carries and mistaking his sometimes weary cynicism for mere superiority or whatever. And I'm like... ![]()

I think it's just the tag. Solas I think is a spanish porn thing. The Samson tag is similar. Lots of gay Japanese porn because there is a famous Japanese gay men's magazine called "Samson" which has been around since the 50's-60's. The covers of the magazines are usually really cool illustrations though! So...silver lining.
It makes me sad that so many people just don't understand Solas and don't even want to. ![]()
Edit: ooooh..that explains all the feet I keep seeing on Deviant Art when I look for Solas art. *sighs*
The Solas foot thing is Portuguese. "Solas dos pés" means the soles of the feet.
This also reminds me I've gotten lazy on my Portuguese studies, but hey I can understand the fetish label. ![]()

Or things like when my friend, who I spoiled a while before on Solas' identity (in a non-specific way but due to my flood of feels and she never showed any interest in DA games), played it. Despite knowing who Solas is, she didn't even take him to places like the Temple of Mythal or use him much at all.
I was like.....you don't take the ancient elven god to the ancient elven temple? She laughed.
But I know that I care a lot more about Solas than most other people I know, but I think some are missing out.

LOL, that's why I make it a point to type in "dragon age solas" when I want to search for Solas-related stuff on Tumblr.
It helps a little.
But yeah, I get tired of seeing people who misinterpret his personality or don't bother to get to know him. Though I admit, I'm sometimes like that with other characters so...

Yup! Even trying to search the "Solas" tag on Instagram gets you pictures of feet. *sigh*

Even if I dislike a character, I still try to base that on something. Like Vivienne. Man, I hate her. Her personality and self-interested social climbing and condescension bug the hell out of me. I feel like I understand her character, her motivations, her history, and I get where she's coming from on making her own way up and keeping the power she has gained (and the order she craves and why) but in the end....how she acts wipes a lot of the good away.
"It's the trees." Riiiight, Solas.
Spoiler
Actually it IS the trees. I've gotten that banter on my male Lavellan and my female Trev. Also if you notice that banter only triggers in one area. Thing is it's bugged, I think it's only supposed to trigger in the oasis of the Hissing Wastes, because if you read the codex (or maybe it was the landmark note), it says the trees do smell sweet.
The fanart is adorable though. ![]()

Yup - to add to that, Vivienne actually explains what it is and that the trees while pretty smelling are deadly poisonous(SHE WOULD KNOW). Most people hate her, most people don't bring her along so they miss it. Also the banter not triggering all that much.

I think Vivienne is the character I'm most guilty of not bothering to get to know since I didn't like her personality (though my Lavellan tried REALLY hard to get Viv to like her). I didn't bother to bring her around so I don't hear her banters and how she interacts with other characters. I try to understand where she comes from from what little interaction I had with her (and I guess I kind of do) but I just can't deal with her. And she's the one who I got the highest disapproval with. xD

Yes I know that. xD

When people dislike a character, sometimes they decide that everything they do or say is bad or malicious. I see this happen a lot to Solas. There's a lot to dislike Solas for that is real, but it frustrates me when people make things up or interpret something horribly just because they dislike him. Like, isn't there enough about him that's questionable? You really have to make up stuff too?
There are also interpretations that I find way off base and even sometimes slightly make me wonder if these people watched the same scenes I did. Sometimes it's like they're really making things up or making interpretations with zero basis that are totally far off and I wonder how they even came to those conclusions.
The only time I can remember a post making me actually mad was when someone insisted that Solas treats Cole badly. Thems fighting words. The whole spirit vs human Cole thing in fandom irritates me a lot though, especially when people demonize Solas while making Varric seem like a saint. Both have good and bad points and, in my opinion after playing that scene again recently, both are equally condescending to one another at some point during that quest's exchange. It's not just Solas.
Somehow, Vivienne is my friend in this play through. It's actually sad and I felt for her. I wanted to give her a hug.

She's the only one my Lavellan was not considered friends with by game's end (and hilariously, it kept me from validating my world state in Keep at first). I stopped bringing her around almost completely after some point early, except for a few occasions, including doing her wyvern quest. I usually have a two mage party and Dorian fit in much better anyway.
Just finished the lineart for my Solavellan drawing. I hope I'll find the time to color it! ![]()

The thing about the Cole quest is that gamers are used to having choices that are 'good' and 'bad'. So that's how a lot of people see it. It's the same issue that Act III of DA2 had (although I feel that's also due to the rushed production doing a terrible job of giving players a reason to side with the Templers). For me the Cole choice is the single hardest choice in the game. It was actually harder that Alistair or Hawke.
?
I'm curious to know where she picked up that tidbit because at this point it's baseless unless I missed something. Until then she's blowing smoke or she better pass the elf root.
So it turned out she was smoking elf root. See? Elf root.

I take it you had the same problem as me where it wouldn't let you say you'd completed Bring Me The Heart of Snow White without also saying you were friends with Viv?

Yep, that's the one.

I love this so much!!!! It reminds me of my short fic I wrote for my Lav and Solas.
Really good!
Once I figured out that you didn't necessarily have to denounce all your pro-mage, free mage beliefs, being friends with Viv was easy. All you have to do is stay middle ground and not say polarizing things to her even if you might be pro mage freedom. Which, luckily for me, is totally in character for my Lavellan. Especially since she doesn't have much of a leg to stand on when it comes to Circle and Chantry issues. Viv strongly disapproves of taking the mages in but other than that I don't remember making a major choice she greatly disapproved of. Maybe the Well of Sorrows? Did she prefer you to drink or not drink? I don't remember.
I like her well enough, though. I don't really dislike any BioWare character. I can always find something to like about them! I just care about some less than others and I do that a lot in DAI. It was easy to run with just a couple of main teams. In my playthroughs, Dorian, Vivienne and Sera are pretty much always benched because they're the companions I like the least. Then again, no other mage was going to replace Solas on my team. ![]()
Though I will say that I felt like some characters seemed so outside of the action that I wonder if they were wasted in DAI. Viv was one of those characters and so was Blackwall to an extent. I also think Dorian would have been better to have along in a game where we actually go to Tevinter. But I also think that of the DAI companions, Dorian is the most likely to be a companion in another game so who knows!
