So..this was just posted.
Introducing Mass Effect: Andromeda.
I like how they got around having to address the issues of what happened after ME3 ... it's in a different galaxy entirely. Heh.

Personally, I was hoping they would go that rout. I'm looking forward to a completely new setting. Just my opinion, of course. I know some people won't be happy at all. Totally understandable.
However, just because they move to a new galaxy, doesn't necessarily mean they won't address the endings. They might still do something with that. One can hope. ![]()

Mass Effect has a character named Mordin Solus. Solus sounds a lot like Solas. Patrick Weekes wrote both.

Much obliged! ![]()
Also, nothing about Dragon Age at E3. Expected, but still a tiny bit disappointing. ![]()

It's already out and Wolf Hunt (which is totally going to be the conclusion to the game) is probably a long way off (I'm hoping for a lot of DLC here. Actually, what I really want is something like Fallout New Vegas' DLC were the four DLCs make up a single connected story).

I had a feeling they would do that too. I'm most curious about the "long after" part. Exactly how long are we talkin', here? Enough that they were able to travel to a different galaxy, it seems. And which ending will be "canon" because either everyone is organic/synthetic hybrid or they aren't and I doubt it'll be a choice.

I'd bet anything that "Wolf Hunt" will be the very last DLC also. The DLC that hints at the main story of future games is always the last one to release.

I'm not unhappy with it, tbh. And they might mention something in passing about the ancient history of the home galaxy or something ... since it's apparently set far enough into the future that we've gone to a different galaxy. But I'm not disappointed it's set elsewhere.
Also, I was REALLY hoping for some kind of announcement about DA DLC. Darn it.
There, sort of on topic.
I really need to play the ME games. I have 1 and 2, just never got around to playing them. I am more of a fantasy than sci-fi person....but it is Bioware....
And it will pass the time while waiting for the next DLC. Which I am happy to wait a while for Wolf Hunt if that means better content in it. I have decided the last thing I want is a rushed Wolf Hunt DLC that is more infuriating than satisfying.
All right, slightly off topic, but:
I was very dissapointed with ME3. But this? I don't know, I thought I. m done with ME, but no. I want this game. I really do.
It is possible, that there was some sort of backup plan - they sent ships to other galaxy in order to escape the Reapers if they couldn't be defeated. Let's say the contact with the ships is lost - no matter if you saved Krogans or not, If you choose red, blue or green ending - in this new Galaxy they don't even know what happened in th Milky Way, they don't know if the Reapers won or not. Therefore - anything is possible- I'll headcanon that Indoctrination theory was right and it will work as well. It is my speculation, but if that;s what they did - then I'm very impressed. And I look forward to playing ME:Andromeda (something I really didn't see coming).
On topic...
To me, the credits song "I'm not calling you a liar" from DA2 is very fitting for Solas/Lavellan romance. Anyone agree with me? I see them and I hear this song. It's so amazing and full of feelings. I love it.

I always recommend that people at least give them a shot. I never regretted it.
And any rushed DLC would be bad. One does not simply rush the Dread Wolf. ![]()
I didn't think I would like the Mass Effect games since I don't like shooters and I'm not a big fan of space ships and sci-fi games, but I really like them. They are my second favorite (Dragon Age is my first) games. I'm glad I made myself play the first game all those years ago.
That's why I like this thread. We love him, but we also tend to talk about his faults a lot.
Solas/Ghilly? I'd not considered that. I ship Andruil/Ghilan'nain myself. It's pretty much canon.
The type of fic I'm refering to is the sort where Lavellan will travel back in time and meet Fen'Harel, who immediately starts adressing her as a 'halla' and acting super predatory towards her.
My Lavellan would just pull a Sera at this. *raspberry noises intensify*
To be fair, I ship him with literally half of the pantheon, including Falon'Din and Dirthamen, and each of them variously with each other. Andruil/Ghil is a given.
I can see how that kind of fic could be offputting if you prefer a more aggressive Lavellan (we know Solas/Fen'Harel used to act like an arrogant hothead, who had enough knowledge and power to keep both sets of gods on their toes (Mythal made a point of showing he was her staunch ally in her temple, as did Dirthamen), and probably ran around as a wolf a lot, if his iconography is anything to go by, but I never got the sense he was deliberately predatory - dominant yes, predatory no, so it's a characterization thing. I suspect he hasn't changed as much as he thinks he has, he's just better at hiding it.). The wolf/halla dynamic (which appears to be basically femsub) isn't usually my thing unless it's done well, but I guess such writing scratches someone's itch in fandom, so more power to them.

I don't want them to rush it. I just want news. Specific news. Not, yeah we're working on it. Like ... name of DLC, release dates - I know, they don't want to make promises they can't keep about release dates. But I would be very surprised if they don't have some idea by now of when the next DLC will be released and what the name of it is. I know it recently came out for people on the PS3/4 and Xbox but it's been out since March for Xbox One and PC. That's quite a bit of time to be working on the next DLC.
Honestly communication about DLC has been next to non-existent for DAI. I mean it was pretty cool about JoH for Xbox One/PC players when back in March they were like oh hey guys it'll be out tomorrow! But then everyone else had to wait until the end of May to get it, little information was given about the Black Emporium and the only reason I found out about the item pack that was just released was Origin said oh hey there's new content for DAI and I went wth?
And I'll stop ranting now because I'm not *angry* at Bioware. Just a little frustrated.
Everyone has their own personal preferences of what they find physically appealing. I respect that. But it bothers me a little that baldness (even if it is done intentionally by the wearer) somehow equals being unattractive.
I remember when I was a kid, I found Patrick Stewart and Telly Savalas attractive (and still do). Bald guys were not in my list of what I found desirable, but I discovered something new about myself upon reflection.
Now of course I find it a bit...absurd when some men try to hold onto what little hair they have left and they do a comb-over. Sometimes you gotta let it go man.... shave it all off. But still, I can respect their decision. Their body, their rules. I also realize that not everyone has a skull shape to pull off a shaved head.
That said, I think Solas looks good with or without hair. But what I also like is his personality.....his spirit.

Same here. I ended up playing ME1 just because I got ME2 for free -- I think with DA2? And of course I couldn't let a game go unplayed, and of course I couldn't just play the second in the series... so I bought ME1 and started playing after I finished DA2.
And by all that is holy, Mass Effect became my favorite ever set of video games. Hands down, no questions asked. I've played lots, and I've loved lots, but there's something about ME that is just out there special. I suggest that everyone at least give it a shot. They have the whole trilogy on sale often enough that it's worth trying. And yes, I am definitely looking forward to Andromeda.
I expect we'll be done with DAI DLC by the time Andromeda launches... right? ![]()

In other news I started my first full dwarf playthrough. I love dwarves, but I never make them look right. Mine still doesn't look right, but he's has an appealing weird grey-green-yellow eye thing going on.
Two-handed Champion with Solas as his main DPS buddy.
Once he gets his greedy paws on the Legion of the Dead Armor and Sulvein, he's heading to Frostback to overturn every stone. ![]()
EDIT: I agree about wanting more news of DLC. Not even dates or names, just, "Expect another story DLC in the style of Jaws sometime this year. And maybe this year or next, but a larger expansion that is post-game only. Also, no exclusives, ever again!" That kind of thing.
I drooled earlier when wondering what Orzammar or Kal'sharok would look like in Frostbite.
Or space. Space would also be good. (MAAAAAAAS*edited for space* KROGAN LOVE INTERESTS EVERYWHERE!)
I'm a little sad we'll be playing a human again in the new Mass Effect. I hope there will be new alien species. I wonder how far into the future it will be, if Liara might still be alive and still be Shadow Broker.
So...I just finished JoH. That dragon wasn't as hard and everyone made it out to be. :-P Also, how do I get the Dragon Hunter Armor schematics? I've done all the war table missions. Right now Solas is wearing the armor and he's looking pretty fine..hehehe.
~brazenly ignores the conversation about Mass Effect~
I actually really really like the hair!Solas concept art. I think dreads get this horrible, undeserved rep as being messy and dirty and unclean - I would have liked to see a rather reserved, subtle, clever character like Solas pull them off just to defy that stereotype. My main issues with dreads would probably be more to do with how they're modelled and clipping issues - long hair doesn't look great in DA.
However, I really like bald Solas too because it shows character progression. We're implied that Solas was different before the elves fell, and people often change their appearances, hair, and clothing in relation to major life choices.
I think I'm more annoyed that they didn't stick with the darker skinned character model in the dreads design.

If you talk to Kenric after the main quest is completed it'll unlock the war table mission that will grant you the schematics. But I believe you do have to talk to Kenric or you don't get the mission at all.
Aah...I didn't talk to him again after. Thank you, both of you!
I wandered over to the ME side of the forums to see what people are saying about the newly introduced Mass Effect: Andromeda and find people posting that they are already disappointed and feel let down about various things.
If following DAI so closely up to release has taught me anything, it's that game fans provide one heck of an interesting medium for observing people. The cycle starts again. ![]()
I'm about to hit the Winter Palace on my current DAI playthrough. Am I the only one who would have loved to use Iron Bull to climb all those damn fences and walls...?

Some people just can't be happy about anything. You could give them exactly what they say they want and they'd still find something to complain about.
So I finally got over my writer's block and finished "Searching for Solas: Asha'mien'harel". Angsty as all get out, but I think that's par for the course with Solas.
