So there is something that has been bothering me ever since I did All New, Faded For Her for the first time. I tried looking this up but I didn't find anything.
At first, Solas seems distraught. Ok that's normal.
Then he smiles/smirks after the PC says "Let me know if I can help". That... seems a bit weird...
But then he goes back to being angry then sad and takes off to mourn. Normal reaction.
Something about him smiling with his back turned seemed... odd. I was like "Mmkaaay. What was that about? People don't usually smile when they're grief stricken."
What does everyone else think about this?
EDIT: Or maybe they were trying to go for the forced smile that a grieving person gives to acknowledge a sentiment from a friend and somehow it came off slightly creepy?
Just popped in, what no news yet, damn?
But while I'm here I may as well help, some people do smile when they are emotional and it isn't necessarily a sign of happiness.
There has been much speculation about the Etruscan smile say, or the Mona Lisa... These smiles probably do not indicate happiness there but a wry reaction to life. There is also a scene in Dracula where Van Helsing starts laughing uncontrollably following Lucy's death, it is a symptom of his distress. Please don't take my word for it, look it up.
I think Sola's smile may fall into the same realms as his legendary giggling, he is an extremely emotional but usually very controlled being but sometimes the feelings break through and they expressed in an atypical manner, and literally the when he smiles after you have offered help that might just be his defences cracking up and the emotions breaking through... Momentarily. Likewise the giggling is not happiness or spite but his relieved reaction to locking up the pantheon, a touch of relieved hysteria, if you will.
