My partner got around to finishing ME3 last night, for the first time ever. This entire day has been spent with him randomly spouting off another thing that confused or irritated him about the ending, and he went in unspoiled and blind so I was really interested to see his reaction. I also learned that three years gone is not enough time to not tear up at certain points through the game... Best series ever, seriously. I hope Andromeda does as well and that the team learned whatever lesson the end of ME3 taught them.

Now if only we got some DAI DLC news...

lol yup, sounds a lot like my reaction after beating the game a little while ago... and I was relatively spoiled as far as the ending goes. Solid half hour of crying, and then intermittent moments of rage and random sobbing for the rest of your life. That should be a health warning on there or something.

ME3 was really such an amazing and heartfelt game, even with that ending it was an incredible series <3 I'm definitely looking forward to Andromeda!!

Every time new DAI DLC comes out and it isn't Solas related, I just lose all enthusiasm XD I'll just have to buy it all once they finally come out with something... if they ever come out with something... T_T

For Mass Effect 1, Bring Down the Sky gives you some perspective on a generally antagonistic group that tend to crop up, as well as a recurring jackass. But it's not crucial, per se.

For Mass Effect 2, Lair of the Shadow Broker is amazing and very plot relevant.

Zaeed: The Price of Revenge and Kasumi: Stolen Memory are the infamous companion DLC's, but they're both charming and will turn up again in ME3 for fun times.

Overlord isn't plot relevant, but it is an excellent story.

Arrival isn't nearly as good as Overlord or Lair of the Shadow Broker, but it's extremely story relevant.

For Mass Effect 3, From Ashes is a companion DLC that's story relevant, and is rather shamefully not included in the main game.  <_<

Leviathan is fantastic, and story-relevant.

Extended Ending is free and necessary.

Omega is decent, or so I've heard. Not main plot critical, but it picks up on some plotlines.

Citadel is an amazing romp with the entire crew, the last hurrah of the Shepard Trilogy. I'd almost recommend playing it after you finish the game, just to have the perfect note to leave off on.

If you can't quite afford all the over priced DLC, like me, then I'd recommend maybe just Arrival on Youtube? (There are some decisions in that one that I...disagree with. *glowers at Kenson*)

I'm lucky I got a lot of those in the full trilogy PS3 set, I'd never be able to afford them otherwise. Didn't give me Citadel or Omega though, and they're probably the best ones...

Lair of the Shadow Broker is awesome, if not only for the video feeds you get from the base:

I know MOST people have played Mass Effect by now, but some here haven't... so... just remember to spoiler tag anything that's clearly a big spoiler. Especially if people new to the games don't know how things can be different based on stuff. :)

I'm sad to hear about CaptainCaranis taking down their screenshots!! They were awesome! Hopefully the community can convince them to upload them again. I do not understand why trolls would target such a blog. :(

All of them. :-P  But really..Citadel and Shadow Broker are the best, in my opinion.

Here's a guide to what's available (some of it is included in the trilogy pack on some platforms)

http://masseffect.wi...oadable_Content

My recommendations:

Normandy Crash Site

Bring Down the Sky

Citadel - pretty much required

Lair of the Shadow Broker - pretty much required

Kasumi - Stolen Memory - pretty much required

Zaeed - The Price of Revenge - pretty much required

From Ashes - Fills in blanks, gives you a new companion who grants a bunch of insight in some places.

Overlord - This is not 'required' but it is underrated amazing and creepy as hell.

Arrival - You CAN skip this but I would recommend it. It bridges the gap between ME2 and ME3. Plus, it's just very well done.

Leviathan - You CAN skip this but I would recommend it (again, this fills in a LOT).

I enjoyed it, but I'd say Omega is entirely optional. If you love Aria, enjoy a relatively short DLC that is basically a huge multilevel siege, and have cash to spare. Nyreen the turian is a great character. Both of them are your squadmates for this DLC and none of your usual party members are included.

Additional note: Zaeed is also free, so you've got nothing to lose with it.

As for Omega - I got all the DLCs (because I'd rather starve than not have them :bandit: ) including this one and it's great. It's not plot-relevant in a major way, but it's atmospheric, expands the ME universe in small but significant ways and puts an awesome cap on the Omega thread of the story (plus more War Assets, which is candy to completionists like me).

Another note. If you get to the point in ME3 where Omega would feel relevant and you have any desire to play it - it IS fun, after all--I would also recommend reading the Mass Effect: Invasion comics before playing Omega. You'll be able to read and understand the situation right away, and you will know the antagonist with more depth.

There was a 99 cent issue sale once at Dark Horse and I bought all of the comics one day. I read them in a relevant order while playing through the games. So...get to one place, read a new comic series. It added another dimension. Now there is a collected volume of most of the comics, which might be cheaper.

Leaving some art here.

"The healer has the bloodiest hands."

Solas doodle.

Another nice Solas doodle.

Third Solas doodle.

When Cadash and crew faces an OP enemy, she grabs her BFF Solas and runs. xD

Lavellan is frustrated with brushing her hair and so Solas helps her brush.

(Slightly NSFW for little nude chibi Lavellan but otherwise, it's cute.)

Cassandra, Sera, and Solas.

Oooh, thanks for linking this!  When I get around to replaying I'll at least use the arms.  Archer Lavellan shouldn't look like you could break her arms with a feather.

My canon is a dual-wield stabby rogue. In armor it doesn't look so bad, but outside....her arms do not look capable of killing anything.

Thanks for all the guidance on DLC, 'tis much appreciated :) . I'm already regretting not just buying the deluxe editions of the games seperately instead of buying the cheap trilogy package but nooooo. (Yes, I've already bought it, and spent three hours playing ME1 already).

Yes please, would be much appreciated! (at least until I'm done...) So far, from browsing these forums, the most I know is:

1. That a companion has to die at some point in time

2. The ending of ME3 totally sucks according to some and lots of people got angry at it (I have a hunch 1 + 2 are related).

3. Garrus is a total babe

I'd rather leave it at that and discover the rest myself :P

Oh, well, about that ending... I'm one of those who thinks it's just fine. I loved every minute of ME3 and the ending was very emotionally draining and climactic, which fit the mood for me perfectly, though I was probably just as angry and sad as anyone else. Difference being, for me that was about the series ending more than the way it ended. I get it, really I do, but there's only a certain level of outrage that I can really agree with and a lot of the time I think it's a tad overblown. I won't spoil it of course, so I can't go on ranting about this.  :D That's probably for the best.

Garrus  <3

I won't say anything on companions dying, except... well, this is Bioware!

The ending was definitely emotionally draining. I only played it after the Extended Cut had come out, so I missed the initial ragefest over it. It just....hit me....and I needed distance and processing time and headcanon and art.

Never quite got that aspect of Garrus, but he's my Shepard's best friend. Liara, on the other hand....

I really, really want a new DAI DLC announcement soon. I mean, now that ME: Andromeda has been announced, with a promise for more from the ME team around the new year, I expect a lot of ME stuff to take over center stage at BioWare. I did say a while back I didn't expect an announcement until sometime in the summer, probably July or so, and I hope we get one.

I sent them a fan mail earlier. I did not just do a reply because they specifically wrote their post in Russian and I did not want my English post to bring out the trolls, as it were. I am waiting to see if I get a reply.

If anyone wants to send any messages to her, but worried about language barrier, I am volunteering to translate to Russian. I send her a few messages myself, but didn't get a response yet. I really like what she is doing and I think it would be great for her to know that she has quite a few fans on this thread.   :)

I was one of those who first ended ME3 before the Extended Cut was released and let me tell you, I was enraged. Sad, but enraged. (And I've heard people state various valid reasons on why the original ME3 ending was crap, and it's not only because of player choices). And yes, it was emotionally draining. I was in depression for 3 months after I ended it.  That and DA2 made me lose faith in Bioware for a while, which is why I didn't really follow DA:I's development that closely. Plus, I lost interest a bit when I heard way back then that the Inquisitor was going to be human-only (again).  <_<

Of course, the ending was slightly better after playing the Extended Cut DLC but the damage had already been done for me.  -_- (With Andromeda, I just hope Bioware's learned their lesson after the whole ME3 ending mess.)

And I also never quite got that aspect of Garrus since my Shepard only saw him as friend. :P

And yes, I hope we get DA:I DLC announcement soon. I'm itching to play some new DA:I content.

I played it before the Extended Cut came out, then again soon after with my other Sheps and honestly, I didn't see that it made that much of a difference. It was still the same ending in a nutshell with some added bits (which I liked, make no mistake) - but as I said, I was fine with their decision to make it that way to begin with. I've got really good arguments going for both sides of the fence regarding

Spoiler
, so as I said earlier, I get it, but at the same time I don't really agree with the rage. I can bring up other games in comparison that do endings that everyone wanted for ME3 as well, but I think that for a story like that, it is kind of fitting.

Garrus, purrr.  <3 I'm definitely a Garrus fan. And Tali, too. Alright, and Liara  but Garrus...

I'm so excited about Andromeda.  It'll be the agony of waiting all over again, like with DAI!  ....Splendid. Oh, the eye rolling that will be going on here around me for the next year or so...  :D But I'm sure they won't forget DAI DLCs, because they know all the ME fans are still stubbornly lingering around DAI subjects until they give us what we want!  :D Except for the non-DA ME fans, of course. Such people exist, I presume.  :D

I will maintain to my dying day that there was long list of potential characters and companions that were cut on the drawing board. Kasumi came in as an idea later. But as for the original cut companions, well...

"Zaeed Messani went out to dinner with his family one evening. He was the only survivor."

Bioware was as surprised as everyone else when he showed up as day one DLC.

EDIT: Adding spoiler tags as this is probably a spoiler for ME2's suicide mission.

I was also one of those who played ME3 before the EC. I sat in stunned silence for a good long while before I wept like a child and fell into deep depression for some time. I didn't want to feel like that, especially as someone who was no stranger to chronic depression. I was lost for words, and not in a good way. I am looking forward to MEA though and I never let it colour my view of BioWare as a whole.

It seems no matter what, BioWare holds my emotional health in the palm of their hand, especially this year with Solas and big changes coming to SWTOR.

Too many punches and I fear I'll fold.

Garrus is awesome..but Kaidan will always be my Shepard's love.

I also played ME3 with the original ending first, I bought the game when it first came out. I was disappointed, but not pissed off. I've played it several times since. I think I play the whole Mass Effect series about twice a year. Even though the ending sucks...the game is awesome and so much fun. I just love it.

I am really looking forward to Andromeda..but I'm also sad because I don't know how I will play it. My computer sucks and I have an XBox 360. I need to start saving so I can upgrade. It's supposed to come out around Christmas next year right?  I have a year and a half to save. I'm just rambling..ignore me. :-P

I'll probably play Andromeda as well, even though I wasn't really excited with what they showed at E3. But yeah, I'll have to save up for either a powerful PC or one of the new consoles since there's a lot of games I want to play that I can't play on my laptop or my PS3. (Fallout 4, eeeeee!)
