Yep, that quest is in a sneaky spot. I read it and then deliberately chose not to do it because my Lavellan had no reason to help the Circle. The free mages were allies and mage freedom was important. The Circle is a prison, sorry Viv.

People can dislike Solas if they want. No one is required to like him. But insulting fans of the character is a bit ridiculous, as is taking what Solas did or the things he said as a personal insult. He interacted with your character, not you, so feeling betrayed by him on a personal level suggests someone has trouble observing the line between fantasy and reality. He really isn't out to get you, honest. We aren't all stupid girls wrapped up in the idea of a god's romance. Sometimes a character is just fascinating for who they are and not what we make them out to be. ![]()

I am writing that. I'm going to re-read HP just to write that.
I will so read that if you write that. Ah, the heady, youthful days of HP fanfiction. I learned about so many things in that crucible of crazy: slash, lemons (back when we called them that), and the ever-fearful shipping wars.

I actually think she's quite pretty, haha! There's a definite appeal to her face. She's just not the cutesy pretty you tend to see in elves!

I thought so too. A lot of people make kind of ethereal, pretty and doll-like elves. I like seeing a variety.

My quizzie is very doll-like, but I agree! I think she's gorgeous. Variety is the spice of life!

Well, I don't think it's a bad thing. It's just quite common. And some people make unbelievably pretty elves out of that character creator with bad lighting. ![]()

@everyone aaah thanks very much. I was definitely purposefully trying to veer away from the cute ethereal doll-like kind of look (nothing wrong with it, to each their own, ive seen some downright angelically beautiful creations in terms of femlavellans and theyre amazing!) its just not for me personally. I guess she is still pleasing to the eye in her own way, I wonder how to make her look less so, thats the question isnt it? How to make a character who isnt really aesthetically pleasing but doesnt verge into the realm of comically unrealistically ugly? I find that if i push the cc too far they just end up looking like the cartoonlike "ugliest as possible" quizzies people make for lulz to post in those threads.
If i had my way she'd be able to be missing an eye and half an ear and stuff haha. Headcanon man
Anyway yeah the ethereal type elf creators are very talented and have a keen eye for the details, its impressive.
I appreciate you guys taking the time to look at my quiz btw, means a lot :3

I tend to make my characters either totally average or with some sort of disfiguring mark to them. I've got nothing against the radiantly beautiful characters, but I like mine being just somebody in the crowd. It's nice we can have scars on our characters this time around, but I'd be right behind you with a missing ear. ![]()

Unfortunately one of the patches, in combination with my inability to run the game above medium settings, erased my Lavellan's scars. In one of the early scenes with Solas, I have screens and she has a forehead scar, and later, it's just...gone.
Maybe we can call it a side effect of vallaslin removal. ![]()

I know I'm part of a minority, but it drives me batty when I see overwhelming numbers of people who announce how much they hate the fade. It hurts me almost as much when as the large groups of people who talk about how boring and pointless Solas is as a companion. I need to spend less time on Facebook.
Facebook, Tumblr, anywhere it can happen. I know a few people who just think Solas is "okay" or even a little boring. Obviously, not everyone is going to connect the same way to the same characters. But I do feel like some people are missing out because Solas and his plot relevance are very, very much enhanced by hearing his interactions with others. The impact just isn't the same. I'm so glad I connected with him so much because he never left my party.
Until, well, you know.
Come baaaaaaaack

Yeah. I always have some kind of scars on my character when I'm able to. I know a lot of people who have scars irl say they aren't pretty and are embarrassed by them (and I don't mean to offend anyone with a scar) but I feel like every scar tells some story...so in a game, they help me think of some kind of background for my character. I'm not a writer at all and have trouble thinking up backstories. And they look cool in games..

As for people hating on the Fade, well...
It was mostly the art design in 1 and 2 I didn't like, as well as that recurring riff. I liked the weird gameplay aspect, and I liked it in 2 overall. It's a cool part of the setting. But by the gods, the Fade sequence in Inquisition was a thing of beauty, as was the art redesign. I petition that we only ever enter the Fade physically if it looks that good. I no longer blame the Seven Magisters.

I tend to give my characters some scars, especially given that I often play dual-wield rogues. If my characters are wielding blades, it sort of makes sense they're in close range and might take a hit at some point.
I have two facial scars that are the kind of thing people don't really notice unless they are looking. The bridge of my nose was sliced as a child (there's a sort of chip missing) and I busted a spot between my chin and lower lip on a window. They're interesting.

the Fade in 1&2 was meh, and when we got zapped into the Fade in DAI, I thought 'ugh' but then...oh my goodness was it amazing. and Solas fanboying over the whole thing was amusing. And it was not only aesthetically detailed and creepy and had lots of interesting touches, but the design was so well done. Here Lies the Abyss is one of the highlights as a result. I think I passed through every emotion in that level, from the spiders (hey, that's what my nightmare creatures would look like too!) to the mission where you find out about the people and return objects, to the greatest fear gravestones, to the memories Justinia guides you to, to the Nightmare (ugh, I couldn't look), the escape, all of it.

The PS3 version doesn't even give you the option to give scars in your characters so... ![]()
I guess it has something to do with the graphics already looking a bit shoddy on the last gen consoles so I guess they thought, why bother? xD
