finally bothered to figured out **** like cheat engine fraps and modding yeaaaa here's my Solasmancing (+canon) Inquiz new and 'improved'  :)

i say 'improved' cause she aint pretty shes a rough AF angry warlord but wat r u gunna do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ <3

I really like her.  She's got all the traditional pretty elven features but she's also very tough looking.

I was going to link you to the short undercut mod (my Lavellan's hair) but I see you're already aware of it.  There's a good skin texture mod that might work for her on the nexus.  It's based on Cass texture and would work well for a tougher character.  The BE doesn't work with skin texture mods installed so you'd have to go to the BE, select the third skin texture, leave and then install the mod.

I know I'm part of a minority, but it drives me batty when I see overwhelming numbers of people who announce how much they hate the fade. It hurts me almost as much when as the large groups of people who talk about how boring and pointless Solas is as a companion. I need to spend less time on Facebook.

I LOVE THE FADE!

I'm not kidding.  I'm not saying it because I'm a Solas fangirl.  The Fade in DAO, DAOA, DA2 and DAI are some of my favourite moments.

I hated the DAO Fade part with a passion; not because of the design, that I liked, but the going back and forth between areas. In DA2 I was grateful that it was so short, and in DAI I was like "No, not the damn Fade again!", but then I played through it and really liked it. They managed to represent the strangeness of the Fade without having to make you go through the same area five times.

Regarding Solas being perceived as boring, it's a pity they didn't introduce cutscenes with him interacting with other companions, as the ones we saw in DA2. If you got the banter bug as I did in two of my three PTs, you really missed a lot of his character.

When I heard we were getting a home base again I was hoping we'd get something like the Normandy in ME3 where companions would move between rooms and you'd walk into conversations (walking into a conversation between Joker and Mordin about human/robot sex is still one of my favourite Normandy moments outside of Javik trolling primitives).  The fact that they were static outside of some quest-locked conversations was really disappointing.  It also meant that the Advisors felt quite disconnected from the companions.

I've found a pretty reliable way of triggering banter.  Go into an area, find a spot away from enemy spawn points and people who try and talk to you (there's usually a spot in each camp that's safe) and just wait for 15-30 minutes.  The first banter should trigger within that time and then another every 10-15 minutes.  You have to repeat that whenever you enter an area though.

I had an interesting banter recently.  It's one between Varric and Solas that I'd heard before (the one about how humans screw everything up and it's up to the non-humans to get them out of trouble) but the banter triggered with Sera in the party:

Varric: So here we are, Elf.

Sera: Who are you calling 'Elfy'?'

Varric: Not you, the other elf.

Solas, she looks real awesome! A good balance between bad-ass and sweet, in my opinion.

My first Lavellan was a bad-ass but I majorly messed up her lips - gave her the most horrific colour! - thought I could deal with it at the beginning but then hours later realised it was the worst... haha

So my cannon Lavellan is the opposite, sweet, pretty and I role play her as such as well.

BTW, I know a lot of you have your Lavellans on the avatar, but I would love to see what all your Lavellans look like, unless that would be considered too off topic?

On the approval, I never had problems with Solas. I always like to ask a lot of question and that obviously helps a lot with him. However, on my first play through I think my approval for him was not high enough so he gave me 'I respect you, Inquisitor' balcony speech. Which left me very confused at first. Did he just break up with me?...

And then I was watching my friend play as well. She went for the fade kiss, but wanted to romance Cullen eventually. So I told her that she needed to get a balcony scene to officially end it with Solas. When she got there, he broke up with her first, again with 'I respect you' line, which made her annoyed as she wanted to be the one doping the breaking up. So she reloaded, tried to gain more of his approval, but he broke up with her again. :D  :D  :D  :D  I was very amused!

Because I couldn't resist, here's my Tala Lavellan. (More pics here.) :P

Spoiler

As for approval, I never had any problems gaining approval with Solas. The only parts where I gained disapproval from him are when I allied with the Grey Wardens, making Cole more human, and maybe some of the Judgement stuff. Other than that, he's practically approved on a lot of what my Lavellan did.

How odd, I thought you only got the "I respect you" line if you didn't do the Fadetongue. With my second Lavellan it was the same as your friend: I went for the Fadetongue but wanted to romance Cullen. I wish I had gotten the "I respect you", turning down Solas was heartbreaking  :crying:

Here are my Lavellans:

Totes on topic because at least two of these pics has Solas, and they all were friends with or romanced him.

Bruce Lavellan--my personal favorite and one I like to put fake moustaches on. Also my Canon:

Since we are all sharing Lavellans, here is my current play through Lavellan. Think I have her the way I like and she is doing a cute smirk!

Spoiler

To speak of Solas, the thought occurred to me that we have seen two powerful beings(Mythal and Corypheaus) have a means of surviving death. And I know there is the dreaded thought that whatever Solas has plans for is going to get him killed....but do you think Solas knows how to avoid death in a similar fashion?

Both Mythal and Coryfish were speical cases.  Cory used the archdemon body hop ability and Mythal crawled her way back to life from being a fragment of spirit.

I have the impression that what we know as "elven gods" are extremely powerful magical beings, so they must be difficult to kill completely, meaning completely erased from existence. I think Mythal's wisp of life survived through the sheer will force of wanting to get revenge. So maybe Solas life essence could survive in a similar fashion... provided he has the will to :(

......I just remembered that when Sols talks about the death of the Wisdom spirit.....he says that the death of a spirit is different from that of mortals. Mortals. So, maybe that just implies death would be different for them all together. Even Abelas says "If a god truly can be" or something like that.

I want to know what "something we've never seen" is and who was included in that category.

The PS3 version doesn't even give you the option to give scars in your characters so...

I guess it has something to do with the graphics already looking a bit shoddy on the last gen consoles so I guess they thought, why bother? xD

The xBox 360 version doesn't have scars either.  I don't really see why not. I've played a few other games that have scars. Doesn't one of the ME games let you add them?  I don't remember.

I don't mind The Fade too much. It's The Deep Roads I hate.  I hate being underground in most video games. Elves do not belong underground!!! :-P

Solas (ahaha your name is amazing) I love your quiz! She's fantastic :)

I tend to make my characters either totally average or with some sort of disfiguring mark to them. I've got nothing against the radiantly beautiful characters, but I like mine being just somebody in the crowd. It's nice we can have scars on our characters this time around, but I'd be right behind you with a missing ear. :P

I try and do this with half of my characters - particularly my female ones. Or at least, I tried and avoid the round face/doe eyes/button nose/delicate jaw template you're always given for women. Not that I don't like that too! - I think my first DA:O character I tried to make her as exceedingly pretty as possible (I failed, haha).

With my quiz I think I tried to stick closer to conventional beauty (also scars don;t show up on my characters for some reason, bah, so that took out 'badass scary scarred rouge' out of the question).

True. But at the same time I'm thankful it came out for the old gen system because it means that poor people like me who can't afford a good PC or one of the current gen systems gets to play the game, even though it's a downgraded version. :P

(I am trying very hard to save up for either a PC or a PS4 though.)

I have to agree with you there. It was just graphical limitations, that's neither her no there, it's pure engine power.  After playing The Witcher 3 which married open world RPG with amazing story based RPG really well, BW did themselves a disservice.  CD Projeckt could NOT have done that on the old generation hardware.

I get that there are a lot of people on here that would not have been able to play it otherwise, but you do see where it hit the limits of the old gen with what I think it wanted to do.

It's unfortunate and I feel the pain - I split from my long time partner so my expenses have essentially doubled since I now can't split rent/food etc.  I recommend the PC, Capricorn - however - as I think you'd go more longevity out of it and you switch up parts and do mini upgrades for cheaper.  A lot more games seem to be coming out on all systems since programming for all three systems - especially the Xbox  - are essentially the same.  I've even seen more movement from the JRPG market to move games over to PC.  Though I would like a PS4 for the upcoming Persona.
