See, I play on PC, so the absent scars make no sense to me. Do you need a certain level of settings? I'm only on an (admittedly, new, and medium-level) laptop, so I can only play DA:I at low-medium quality. No ultra mesh hair for me D:
The Deep Roads were one of my favorite parts of Origins. My favorite part, actually.
All throughout the game the darkspawn are played up as the ultimate threat, and the fall of dwarven civilization is a big theme in both of their origins. And here you are, trudging through the Deep Roads, the place you'll eventually march off to your death, with darkspawn pouring out of the walls and bringing their heavy hitters, with the only living people being the companions at your back, and three smiths in varying degrees of insanity or inhumanity. It's the first time in the game that you really (and literally) stare the Blight in the face. It's claustrophobic and dark and a grind, but it's an area that should feel that way so it's the only time I won't complain about neverending enemies. Besides the endgame, nothing feels quite as triumphant as making it back to Orzammar with a crown in hand. I'm really excited to see the Deep Roads (maybe not the darkspawn if they keep this resdesign going
) in future Dragon Age titles, with the new art design. Creators bless Bioware's environmental design folk, they always make me happy.
But while I enjoyed it, apparently my Warden found it so disagreeable he went off to cure the Calling just so he'd never have to go back.
Ooh! Someone who agrees
I found the Deep Roads
harrowing the first time I played through them. Really felt scared and repulsed by everything I'd seen, from Broodmothers to Hespith's poetry to the endless, endless onslaught of Darkspawn. Like it's a very long, developed part of the game, but I imagine you're travelling several miles to get to Branka. You feel the whole weight of the jounery by its length and endless mooks, in a weird way.
I'd love to go back given the graphical improvements.
