He reminds me of the big white guys in Promethus. I wonder if Morrigan cast a spell on him to "read" his mind or did something similar to Yavanas necromancy.
The eyes make me think of Justice!Anders a bit.

That's what it looks like- either he's showing the Inq how it's done or the Inq is struggling for some reason. I kinda sense it's the latter, if only because the rift there appears to be ginormous.
...I would also be okay with this other interpretation. In fact, if the Inquisitor is struggling to keep their arm up while they close a particularly big rift, it'd be pretty rad if supporting the Inquisitor like this is something that any LI can do. *starry eyes*
Of course, after all my romantic conjecture, watch the true scenario actually being something awful like "The Inquisitor doesn't want to do it so Solas is forcing them." D:
I hate to sound like a pissbaby, but it was a bit underwhelming indeed. (the demo part that is... but that trailer tho) The E3 demo had a mix in of cutscene and a lot focusing in on Sera/ Dorian/ Iron Bull/ and Leliana. However, there was only a cutscene in the end featuring the lady inquisitor and the scout they recruit. (Though there's only so much time they had, I guess I have to take that into consideration.)
*snip*
I've never followed a game this closely before, so I couldn't say how many storyline quests they usually show but I'd think they'd want to keep that sort of thing to a minimum. They also didn't have a whole lot of time, it looks like, so they couldn't really get into something bigger.
I hate to say this but Solas, Cole, and Blackwall are probably the least marketable characters in Inquisition. We may just have to accept that they aren't going to put a whole lot of effort into showing them off.
Looking at the "hand holding" scene again, it looks like the Inquisitor is hesitating and Solas is forcing their hand up to close the tear?
Might this be the first time we close a veil tear in the game?
(And yes, I'm back. Too excited to sleep!)
Either the first tear, or the Inquisitor cannot physically lift up their hand.

I actually think the latter is what it is
Especially if it's the first time closing a rift. The Inquisitor might be freaked out but Solas is going to show them what's what. If the Inquisitor's going to be a baby about it, Solas will just have to give them some tough love. ![]()

Maybe my Inq will have to act completely incompetent then and give Solas the doe eyes. ![]()
"Help me, Solas!"
"But I already guided you at the last three rifts!"
"I forgot how to do it." ![]()

That's what I'm thinking. The Inquisitor sort of hesitating, not sure, and Solas just walks up and grabs their hand. "Like this, you knob," and holds it up for them. ![]()
Although a scene where the Inquisitor is struggling physically, and has to be helped the first time through it would be just as good. ![]()

Ahhhhhhhhh I know right? At first I'm like 'light the candles, cue the smooth tunes, and throw out some rose petals.' But the more I look at it I'm like 'oh no, Solas is being aggressive and making the Inquisitor do things he doesn't want to.' DDDDDD : I would assume closing rifts is good but... we all know what happened in the last demo... ... ...

See the way you put it, it sounds okay. Less mean/evil and more just "not interested in babysitting your crisis". XD Like he's just deciding to take charge since the Inquisitor is being hesitant. That's... kind of hot. >_> Dammit.
So I just thought it through.

What if when the Inquisitor gets pushed into the fade and gets their mark, Solas finds them, brings them back into the physical world, and guides them on closing the tears. That would give Cassandra a reason to believe in the Inquisitor and keep them alive, and a good reason to make you the tip of the spear. If you like it or not.

Oooh.. maybe that's where his hot and fiery scotch bonnet side comes in? ![]()

Now I can't decide which scenario I want it to be. XD

This all just adds to my theory that Solas is the first mage in your party. Excellent.
Also, amazing gif omg.

/insert a long Tina worthy sigh
Yeah, I may just have to face the music.
But, yeah, I get it. Only so much time, only so much they can show. At least they got more time than at E3, I will have to nod to that. A lot more was shown at their demo on the side. But it was just that, a demo on the side. Hey, it could be worse. They could have had Vivienne in this demo instead of Solas.
(Don't kill me, I like Vivienne, but it was Solas' time to shine and his bald head shined with the majesty and splendor of a moon.)
So I just thought it though.

I just noticed Cassandra backing away like "Uhhh I'll just be over here while you two do your little... rift-closing thing."

From the same place:

Definitely a little forceful, there, Solas. [FANS SELF]

Like quota reached.... noooooo....
I want to pinch his ears.
Damn that gif is mesmerizing.
Look how tiny Solas' hand looks next to the Inquisitor's. Hehehe.
I am all "squeel" inside now coz Solas is all badass and forces the Inquistioner to do something he does not want to do, like a badass boss. So loving the introvert-kickass side.

Solas STOP it, you're going to ruin me! Cannot.. stop looking.. so.. entrancing..
Damn that gif is mesmerizing.
I have been staring at the gif for like ... 10 minutes.
(I have to go running. Soon...schoolstart.. Out of shape. But ey, is pissraining outside. What a shame (not). Good excuse to hang around here instead. )
