Any word on when we could maybe expect any official DLC news?
soon

Gah! Soon?! HOW SOON?!
=p
What we seriously need is for DLC to take us to Serault. I want to see the docks burning first hand.
Nooooo why.
Honestly, at this point, I'd rather have Solas die than my Lavellan if I had to pick one of the two. Lavellan's young and has her whole life ahead of her. She has lots of ass to kick and a world to rebuild, and she would eventually overcome her grief. Solas...I almost feel like if he does die in DA:I's DLC, some part of him would welcome it. Even if he was asleep in uthenera, he's been alive for a very long time and witnessed or even contributed to a lot of tragedy. At a certain point, that has to start wearing you down.
EDIT: Oh great, THIS winds up ToP. >< *hides behind Fenris*

Oh wow, that's a wonderful fanart!
I have to say, I'd rather see them both dead than only one of them. It is because I don't want either of them to suffer the heartbreak.
I love my Inquisitor, but I was fascinated with Fen'Harel since DA:O. In Inquisition, he exceeded all my expectations and I love him as character. I guess, out of the two, If I had to choose I'd rather see him alive and well, because surely he's going to be in the next games...while Inquisitor... I guess not, or only i na role similar to Hawke's appearance in Inquisition.
Anyway, I'd love to see him happy, I can't stand that he's such a tragic character. Only imagine such long and lonely life with so many failures and guilt. ![]()
I didn't say he woudl be alone. Surrounded by friends and possible a romanced Lavellan. He would be far from it. He would realize he - the man - was loved for who he was. He would be vindicated. That's far from alone. That's a pretty good way to go out.
Just a random thought...
In that interview with Patrick and Karin Weekes that Tulip posted a few pages back.. Patrick commented on how all the codex entries were written as So and So said this happened.. nothing is a fact. Just because some famous scholar said it happened doesn't mean it really did.
No death, please! I wish for an ending where the divine essence leaves him, he becomes a mortal elf who can spend the next several decades grieving but also helping make the world better in simple ways while enjoying the occasional moment of respite with Lavellan.
I want it to go down like the Saving Private Ryan knife fight...

Imagine a cliffhanger where you think Lavellan actually killed him. Then the next scene you realize she jsut released the God part.

Yeah, I think that realization has been around a while but a lot of people still say "well the game says THIS so it's FACT and blah blah blah...". Even Solas says something to Morrigan about giving legend the weight of history. But, like Varric says, history is still just stories. So you have to weed out the bits of truth where you can. I think the only information about the Ancient Elves that people take seriously, for instance, is whatever comes out of Solas' mouth or what we discovered from adventuring in the Temple of Mythal xD

Imagine a cliffhanger where you think he stabbed and killed the inquisitor... and it turned out he actually did. But then Cole, who had previously convinced the Inquisitor to release Solas, captures him and shoots him, thus Cole kills the boy inside and becomes a soldier. FIN
I've watched Saving Private Ryan too many times.

lol Every time I talk to Solas about a subject, all I can think of is this as his reaction:

When Solas broke up with my Lavellan.. I wanted to do this... WHO'S WITH ME?
When Solas broke up with my Lavellan.. I wanted to do this... WHO'S WITH ME?
You can't make an omelet of liberation without breaking a few eggs?
If you think about it, from a story perspective, Solas could not ultimately tell Lavellan the truth, as much as we would have all liked him to. As much as he does it to stay true to his ideals and whatever it is that he is ultimately going to do, telling Lavellan the truth of who he is is too much of a story spoiler. And I am not talking about just the stinger at the end of the game, but ultimately every piece of content we may get done the line. Telling her opens up the necessity to explain what exactly the Dalish got wrong about him, and what precisely he did to the Creators and the Forgotten Ones. A lot of what Bioware seems to be doing seems to be giving us pieces of a very complex puzzle for us to connect while simultaneously changing the way parts of the puzzle look. Any kind of revelation from Solas would be giving us too many of the puzzle pieces all at once. And if they plan on having his character feature in any major way in DA:4, our Lavellan's might not get much in the way of answers from him in any Solas based DLC.
That is a depressing thought, I need to tell the speculating part of my brain to shut up sometimes...Anyone have a spare jar of Nutella, plum out of anything chocolate overhear

Well, he could tell her a little bit or something......I actually never expected to hear the whole story from him either because realistically....how does one explain the past 2000+years of their life. I mean, Solas would much more than a quick little conversation about being Fen'Harel in order to clear things up completely. Just think of Flemythal's remark to the Reader's Digest version of her story.
Which maybe he could offer that and it would be enough for Lavellan to make a decision yet leave plenty of things unspoken of and unanswered....I'm trying for optimism here and it's hard.

Yeah, that Gisharel has very little historical evidence to back up his claims (and even to prove his own existence), it seems really suspicious that the sole font of Dalish lore wouldn't even pass up to wikipedia's scrutiny, since nearly everything we have is a case of "Citation needed".
They're old and many of you have seen them before I'm sure but after 3 months or so I've run The Beast in the Gloaming and The Wolf At Heaven's Door through the editmachine today and just thought a few of you might be interested. Not much has changed tho!
If you haven't seen them before: two very short Solavellan drabbles set postgame, second is a kind of spiritual sequel to the first, neither are warm and fuzzy. ![]()

Well, one of my thoughts is that perhaps something will happen that could force his hand into revealing at least some of the truth. Given certain pieces we do have, like Felassan's master seems trying to find a way out, Solas' reaction to the Wardens and the Old Gods and doing something they might not understand, red lyrium all over the place, Mythal's "reckoning" which could come through Morrigan, other stuff.
There are ways that the past could suddenly wind up in the present and force some things to come out.
I really would like a romanced Lavellan, especially, to find out the truth so that even if they must remain separated, she won't solely be left with questions and Solas just being gone.

That's a good point. Although they could probably do it, it would just require keeping separate what the player knows versus what the Inquisitor knows. Which, they've kinda already done. The player knows who he is, but the Inquisitor still doesn't. They did it with the Warden. I think we can assume the Warden who followed Morrigan through the mirror knows a lot more about Eluvians than the player, and a lot more about the blight now that they are researching a cure... which is mostly head canon I guess, but they could suggest it happening off screen.

I agree with you and I would love it if Solas explained some things to our Lavellan. But if I had to put myself in Solas' footwraps, I could imagine how difficult it would be to tell my partner exactly who I am.

*takes jar and spoon and digs in* Thank you kindly.
I do love that line from her, her character is another lesson in really great voice acting
It's the waiting and the teasing from Bioware, with nothing knew we just take the information we have and construct all the possible outcomes. Some of them are tinfoil and angst, some are tinfoil and sunshine, some are just straight up tinfoil.

^ This please. My Lavellan could live with it, as much as she would hate it and there would be no one else if he would just explain why
