I'm getting the suspicious feeling that between the lack of information about him and what we saw in the new trailer, Solas is probably maybe important to the plot of the story.

The stream and trailer overwhelmed me with feels so I had to watch them again and again (...and again) but just dropping in before bed to say... what a magical night! So glad we all got to see our beautiful elf man

[EXCITED SQUIRMING] This is what I've been thinking for awhile now. That Solas is the Main Mage Follower for DAI. And while I personally wouldn't mind him 'pulling an Anders', because I love Anders and his entire story-arc, I don't think we'll have another game where the Main Mage Companion does something morally questionable, possibly leading to the end of the world as we know it. Maybe it could be a rogue this time. Or a Warrior!

I'm still not entirely sure if that was Solas or Blackwall we heard... 

 

 

You can actually tell who's talking if you pay close attention to the character portraits - a little yellow speech bubble pops up next to the icon of the person who's talking.

Yeah, I'm not against it but I'm ready to take a break from companions imbued with spirits. It would be nice if Solas was close to spirits but not a host, for a change.

A] The party icons flash when they speak so you know who's saying what.

B] I'm British native and the voice that spoke had a Northern English accent (think Ned Stark from GOT), not a Welsh accent.

 

Tamyn, the whole thing unfortunately can't be watched at that video link, it suffers from the lag/streaming issues the original stream was having and only contains part of the demo. Starts around 19.48 and goes until the 34 minute mark.

I like how slim Solas seemed in the demo.  Definitely elfy.

 

Will update OP with the news that he appears in a trailer and in the gameplay demo from the press conference. It was about time we got some Solas content of this nature!

 

You guys make me laugh (in a good way I promise!) - lol your steamy reactions to Solas moving the Inquisitor's arm ahahahah

 

I had several hopes for Gamescom:

1. Solas Blackwall Cole Femquisitor party action in a demo. [x] check this box

2. new trailer with story info and new footage that made me wig out over the implications [x]

3. remaining two LIs to be announced, maybe through an interview or something [??? - we'll have to wait and see!]

 

but 2/3 is aweeeesome so i'm happy as larry regardless of what they do or don't do next

Yeah, I've been rewatching stuff (looks like the folks recording had as much trouble with the stream...), and I could see clearly who was speaking this time.  Blackwall was the one I could hear the first time around.  Solas does speak at one point but can't hear him well.  

 

In other news, I finally got that thing from the leaked achievements list spoiled, lol.  It wasn't so bad after all, tho.
