Alright...because Amazon's 20th year anniversary is on the 15th..they are having a huge sale with discounts that are supposed to be better than Black Friday. I might be getting my new computer sooner..woot.

Anyway..I want some input on which computer I should get that will play DAI alright. I don't need super great graphics I just want the game to run smoothly.

I was looking at these..

1.  http://www.amazon.com/CybertronPC-Borg-Q-GM4213B-Desktop-Green/dp/B00J9D4MVW/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1436380707&sr=1-5&keywords=video+cards+for+pc+gaming

2.  http://www.amazon.co...8_t3_B0080NQCWY

3. http://www.amazon.co...8_t3_B00D1KX5VM

Now I am a poor person.. I can't afford to go any higher than these. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I am a computer idiot so I really need help.

EDIT: I also have no idea with these will be part of the sale. *sighs*

Also..to be on topic...

Solas made from pipe cleaners...how creative..or something..

All are fine - but you could spend the same amount building it yourself with much better components - why not just upgrade to a PS4 or Xbox as those are MUCH MUCH cheaper and you would likely not have to upgrade for some time?

I don't know too much about the stuff in those units, so unfortunately I can't give as much advice as some other folks here. If you don't get a good answer here try looking it up on newegg (good for reviewing computers)! But here are two more to consider:
A refurbished one
Or, spend $100 for the newer model of one you linked.

Edit: Personally, I think if you are strictly sticking to that price range, I'd go for the refurbished dell I linked, or the 1st one you linked.

Thank you, Chu.  That Dell might work. :-)

I'd go with the 3rd option / the i5, But honestly looking at all of them you might have issues running Inquisition smoothly. They all have GTX 600 cards, and it's been my experience that Inquisition has the biggest issue with those. If you're not sure on how to build your own PC, it might be better to go with something like http://www.amazon.co...r/dp/B00HVXW2QOand then to use the extra money to buy a new card. This site might help you out: http://www.logicalincrements.com/. You can get a GTX 960 for $190, which has been handling all the new games amazingly well.

Edit: But then again looking at the inside of that Dell I'm not sure a better graphics card would fit inside haha.

I second building it yourself... that way you know what's in there (and they are brands you can trust). But it can be a really daunting task for people who don't know too much about computer hardware...

If NightSymphony is up for it, though, hop on to TomsHardware forums and ask them to give you a good computer gaming build for under $600-$700 (all parts available on Amazon). Or, of course, the lovely people here can help you out with a list.   :)

And so I am not off topic:

It's actually not that difficult :D

There are A LOT of really handy you tube videos that show you how.  Really - it's sort of like legos.  There are a lot of forums out there that can help you build.  Like my current computer can run The Witcher 3 on ultra settings and it's a year old. I spent - at the time - $745.00.  So they tend to go a little longer -- like the ones you picked out -- may actualy require upgrades sooner rather than later as new games come out. Within the year.  A lot of parts themselves on newegg - come with fantastic rebates too so you may end up being able to spend around $500 when all is said and done.  There are a fair few people on here that can definitely give you more insight in what parts to get, how to build one etc.

Quick question, if some doesn't mind answering: Has anyone in here, had any issues updating to Patch 8, on the PC?

I did read from a couple threads, that a few were having issues (both Xbone and PC). It appeared in those cases, Origin (or XBL, for those having issues on their Xbone) had errors - of some sort - while downloading/installing said patch.

Haven't had any trouble yet, downloading any of the Patches. I generally waited a few days, before doing so, to see if problems were created by said patches.

Thanks in advance, for anyone wishing to chime in.

Cheers! :)

Yeah. I installed it fine on PC, and then my game wouldn't run no matter what I did. I repaired it and I don't know how effective that was yet, but something went wrong there.

I have my own computer built for my own needs (work and fun-related). After gutting and replacing most parts a few months ago, it went from barely being able to run Inquisition on medium to running it on ultra for long hours without breaking a sweat. I'm lucky to know people who are able to build custom computers, so I've had all the parts first reviewed, recommended and then assembled by them - though if they're not that horribly find in rather remote parts of Poland, I find it hard to believe they're hard to find anywhere else...

So just to be sure I am understanding you correctly. Origin's downloaded and installed the patch successfully (or so it said), then when you tried to boot up a save, the game crashed? Infinite load screen? Or was it that DAI wouldn't even start up?

I suppose it really doesn't matter which of the three it is, except that if it was only a save, it would be interesting to see if you could even create a "New Game". (Not claiming that is a solution to the problem, just more of a curiosity. Might be somewhat telling if it was the individual saves that got fubar'ed or if DAI as a whole, is borked due to the install.

Thanks for the info, regardless. :) Much appreciated.

It never started at all - I clicked on "Play" in Origins and the button faded as it should, but instead of DAI starting the button became active again as if I hadn't clicked at all. I've had some similar problems before, I should add, and so far repairing has worked miracles - it could just be that my shoddy internet connection caused some corruption during the download, but I'm not sure. I also updated it on my desktop and there the download/install went smoothly, no problems at all.

Yeah I've entertained that maybe who he wants to free aren't necessarily other elvhen gods or people. Mostly I wonder if the bit about Fen'Harel being neither a Creator nor Forgotten One is just a fancy way of saying he was half, or that maybe he was half mortal, or something else entirely. Depends on who/what the Forgotten Ones actually were. I hadn't thought about an actual family, but I don't see why not, I'm sure he must have had one at some point. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a wife, though knowing bioware I'm sure she is probably long dead by now. Doesn't mean he isn't still grieving about it though.

Interesting. Maybe he's half wolf, half elf and he reverts to the wolf when the Creators and/or Forgotten Ones are awake? He then comes up with different names for his elf form while maintaining the moniker Fen' Harel for when he's in the Dread Wolf form, obviously. Of course his name could just be a label that is attributed to his nature. Hmmm.....

Perhaps the pantheon use their anthropomorphic form in order to navigate parts of The Fade or to dwell in places like the Crossroads for extended periods of time?

There is a possibility that he could have had a wife though "a cocky and hot-blooded younger self" doesn't always go hand in hand with marriage. IMO I think the chances are slim. Just a guess.

I researched and installed a new graphics card last year and I was very proud of myself.

I found youtube to be a great help, they made it look so easy and then I did it and it was :D

Next job is a processor but my motherboard seems to be limiting me a lot. Honestly I think it might be cheaper for me to get something half decent and use that as my starting off point rather than the one I have now.

I need to have something for Fallout 4.

He could be the embodiment of an ancient hero, half god, half mortal! Oh, I could analyze this in detail, but sadly I really have to work (otherwise I'm going to be killed with elaborate strings of multilingual grammar).

Ancient elf culture seems to be a lot about symbolism and metaphor, so I'm not sure how literally Fen'Harel has to be a wolf :P I think it's either a monicker  or a type of "Orlesian mask" for himself - part of a well-crafted public/mythical image perhaps.

At the same time I think there are enough clues to conclude that ancient elves were either accomplished shapeshifters or their form was fluid - so it may be that elvhen gods frequently assumed forms they chose as their symbols, be it in the Fade or when communicating with mortals, for example.

I mean, if Morrigan and Flemeth can shape-shift, why can't Solas? Maybe that's the reason why Leliana's people couldn't find him after the Cory fight - he just pulled Sirius Black on them :D

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if he was half this and that (whatever 'this' and 'that' is...) - though one of the codexes (as biased and incomplete we know they are) mentions that "he was kin to Creators, but Forgotten ones treated him like he was one of their own."

Which AGAIN - reminds me strongly of Prometheus (who I am convinced served as the mythological basis of the character): someone who was a Titan, yet due to his wisdom and wit, he was welcomed among Olympians (until he does his stunt with the fire, at least).

I was thinking back to Origins when we're in The Fade and you can turn into a mouse to access other parts. There might be something to my speculation.

I'm thinking that you're going in the right direction with not taking the wolf thing literally, and I'd expand that to the "half this, half that," too - we know he moved between the FOs and the pantheon with impunity, but my question is how he can do that; one possible answer is the hero archetype, BUT more on that later.

I really, really need to work.

Consoles are easier, putting aside the recent fiasco with BW and old gen, you buy a game and you know it's going to play but imo you lose a lot of flexibility. You have to play the game as is, you can't edit files to fix the things the company might never get around to fixing or make the run smoother.

And then there's the cosmetic mods, hair, make-up, pretty clothes and armour

I understand the appeal of consoles but at heart I'm a pc gamer.

With the recent announcement about single player content being unlock by DAMP I wonder if BW have a new manager, someone very focused on the bottom line or wanting to prove something to their bosses at EA. Dragon décor is clearly an incentive to get people to play DAMP and probably buy chests so they can fight the dragon asap. They're even splitting hairs on Twitter about it being cosmetic and not story content. While cutting off old gen could easily be a weighed decision about costs verses sales.

Well I don't really have a theory, its just something I thought about while reading the codex on Dirthamen and how he tamed ravens, Fear and Deceit. What if the ancient elves were more animistic, and the Forgotten Ones were an older group of gods, or perhaps from another ancient tribe of elves that were conquered by Arlathan. If you think about it, the Creators are more like gods of civilization, said to be gods of justice, knowledge, craft, etc. The Forgotten Ones are said to be figures of fear, dread, terror... But maybe that's just another way of saying they were more wild, or were worshipped pre empire/civilization.

I love mods!  I really have enjoyed playing DAO and DA2 modded lately. I love all the different pajama mods people have made for Inquisition. I don't know. I really need to ponder all this some more.
