Yes... it seems to have a thing for Argos?  And... dogs, because the world falls into the categories of dog lovers and cat lovers and clearly Google corp. falls into the former.

I don't know how I feel about that.

As a dog person I...

Well on the one hand I approve.

On the other I am very freaked out.

Speaking of breakup scene... anybody else thinks that Lavellan breaking with Solas is even SADDER? I tested it once for curiosity's sake and I've never replayed it again.

I mean, here he is, vulnerable and pouring his heart out (initially, at least) and Lavellan is like "You know what? This isn't going to work..."

So he walks away all hunched and sad while she's all like "meh...". And THEN she can go and romance other companions! Dear gawd, that's just ruthless.

It's horrible because at the moment Lavellan breaks up with him he was still going to tell her everything.

*Hands Illyria a giant tube of glitter the color of Solas' eyes*

Use this, it sticks better than confetti and is impossible to completely clean up.

And now some more awsome shots from captaincaranis

Spoiler

Spoiler

Yessssssssss!  GLITTER.

I like how you think.

For you, Nikki, EXTRA GLITTER!  GLITTER EVERYWHERE!

(someone else is going to clean this up, right?)

Elgar'nan had better keep his silly earthquakes away from my Constantinopolis if he knows what's good for him.

Um...where was I?

For the basalt formations and volcanic history, Barindur (one of the original Neromenian kingdoms, alongside Minrathous/Tevinter) was wiped out by a volcano according to Solas. Frozen in ash, Pompeii style. His comments made me think he may have been around when that happened. Or even known a god with a penchant for earthquakes and divine wrath. *glowers at Elgar'nan in his corner of shame again* Or, possibly, just visited the ghost-town of a city that rose up shortly after/during his final years awake during Arlathan's glory days.

There was also a mention of Ten Holy Mountains or something of the sort somewhere, and some of us were theorizing that every mountain was devoted to one of the gods, with the Temple of Sacred Ashes being Mythal's (thanks to her bloody mural being in the final battle sequence there) and Skyhold having been either Falon'din's or Solas. (Owls, location and familiarity.)  ^_^

By the way, do we ever get an explanation about the giant dwarf statues in the Storm Coast? I mean...that's weird. That's really weird.

First thing I thought of when I heard that line. I have a special connection to Pompeii so I obsessed over it enough as a child to know that story very well.

<3 I really want to see Constantinapolis.

In other news: I was just thinking (and this is possible Team Optimism candy), going by the Wheel of Time parallels (as an expert on the subject *cough*), Solas and his romance seems a lot like Lan to me (and I'm rolling with this theory now, so bear with me). With his whole Mashiara thing... and his one-man war against the shadow. And not wanting to give Nynaeve "a widow's black as a bride price" and all that. So where I'm getting at with this is that this whole episode seemed to be headed for a very tragic end from the very start, and yet...

Spoiler

So if this parallel were true (and considering the heavy parallels so far), I'm going to slumber on that pleasant thought that there definitely is hope, because all this angst has to lead somewhere.

(Alternatively, I'm grasping for straws at this late hour.)

I'm a cat person myself, but I get along well with all creatures. I'm... not sure I get along with these specters of creatures.  :D So I think I understand perfectly how you feel.

And all those eyes... I get dreams like that. Awake I have to actually think about them, so that's slightly disturbing. My dreams tend to be incredibly intriguing, but these images are more reminiscent of the recent period in my life when I had horrible nightmares for several months... without a single night of relief. *shudders* I'm glad that's over.

I believe the Owls point to Andruil, as per the codex entry, "Andruil's Messenger".

@Uirebhiril ( the quote thing doesn't seem to be compatible with IE 11)  - ANYWHO - I don't think it's as black and white as "surprise I was bad all along" or "I'm not smart enough to realize this was bad".  I think it may be a situation where he truly and utterly believes it is the right thing to do.  And he's trying to do good. Which is why Cole never read him as "evil".  In his heart he wanted to make things better.  So like Cole - who murdered all those mages in the tower in a misguided idea that he was 'helping' - Solas might do something that will hurt more now than save.  And if you step back and look at it, yeah, it may be logical.  But there may be a piece to it that requires significant cost.  People love Mordin but like...he was instrumental in causing the slow genocide of the krogan.   There was a logical reason for it though when laid out but it had an incredibly high cost.  So it may be one of THOSE things.

Mark Darrah ‏@BioMarkDarrah
half finished? How so?
User
It has a very open ending, which I'm assuming will be resolved in the upcoming DLC's
User
Which would be fine, but now you want people to shell out for new consoles to be able to play the DLC's
User
What about the people who can't? All they get is the open ended base game
User

User
The DLC seems like it's going to be very essential to the inquisition plot, and not simply a fun option add on
Mark Darrah ‏@BioMarkDarrah
the plot about stopping the rift in the sky? Or are you referring to something that happens after the credits?
User
After the credits
User
No it's not bc of the scene itself, do you know the current DLC rumors going around right now?
Mark Darrah ‏@BioMarkDarrah
Dragon Age: Inquisition was intended to stand on its own. The post credit stuff was a stinger like a Marvel movie.
Mark Darrah ‏@BioMarkDarrah
Sorry you feel the game was unfinished because it was there. Guess that's a reason not to do that sort of thing in the future
User
So the future dai DLC's won't be essential to the plot? I know you cant give spoilers but can you answer that in any capacity
Mark Darrah ‏@BioMarkDarrah
that is unanswerable. Even Jaws of Hakkon provides lore and backstory. So where does one kind of content stop and another begin?
User
I figured as much, which is fine, but you should know shortly before this was announced there was a supposed bioware survey
Mark Darrah ‏@BioMarkDarrah
since the story of DAI is the story of (spoiler), I would consider all DLC not essential to that storyline.
User
well shortly before this was announced there were rumors that a future DLC would be very plot essential
Mark Darrah ‏@BioMarkDarrah
again, I'm not sure what plot essential means. There will be follower stuff in upcoming DLC

Can't say I much like this conversation from any angle. The user sounds too accusational. Bioware comes off like they don't know what's being referred to, and that feels disingenuous. It's like MD is just teasing him/her by insisting that they don't know what plot is being discussed? Not a great communication all around, unfortunately. It happens.

I'll chalk it up to Internet comms being difficult. It's easy to have misunderstandings without voice inflection etc...

I'm still hoping that Solas is not wrong about whatever it is going on. He might make a great antagonist or anti-hero, but I'm a bit over the whole companion-turned-betrayer story where you either must kill them or talk them down and Show Them The Error of Their Ways like a good little protagonist. Everyone's so darn convinced he's going to do horrible and terrible things and he has no brains for making choices through his life, it'd be nice to see the opposite.

But I do agree with thinking that his story is tragic. I'm most looking forward to learning what it is. Hopefully they'll let us. :P

I don't think anyone here is saying that Solas doesn't have brains. I think Solas is a "needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few" kinda guy. He'll accept losses to do what's right etc... I think there's a good chance that he has a plan that the Inquisitor will have a hard time swallowing. That doesn't = me underestimating his intelligence. I'm thinking more along the lines of a morale conflict. That's where it gets more interesting because what people value lands us in shades-of-gray decision making.

And that art of Sten with a puppy is adorable. <3

New captaincaranis screenshot! :D Under the tag because it's HUGE shot of his beautiful freckled face.

Spoiler

According to the post, captaincaranis tried to do the bald head appreciation post and whatnot but didn't because they got distracted by Solas' freckles and lips and all the rest and will try again tomorrow. xD

Well, story-wise and according to Solas, the veil is thin there! Someone had a theory that he would reveal his true nature when he told her everything -- so a place with a strong connection to the Fade would suit his purpose well. ;P

First time I saw this scene and he commented on the veil being thin I was just like...awww, even when he picks a date spot, it's somewhere ~the veil is thin here~ so he can comment on it like he does everywhere else. That's adorable.

I mean, it turned out to be the worst date ever, but it was a great idea in theory before then.

Right! I thought I did something wrong until I saw that. Then it was "Ohhh, okay. Whatever, Solas, you'll be back. This is Dragon Age. Elf love interests freak out for a bit and then see the error of their ways, it's fine. By the end of the game, you'll be back."
