First time I saw this scene and he commented on the veil being thin I was just like...awww, even when he picks a date spot, it's somewhere ~the veil is thin here~ so he can comment on it like he does everywhere else. That's adorable.

I mean, it turned out to be the worst date ever, but it was a great idea in theory before then.

I figured it was just his way of telling Lavellan he feels close to her, or testing her reaction to see if she's figured it out yet. For some reason I find that line ridiculously romantic. Like, he feels she "gets" him, and is alluding to past conversations and hints about the veil. For a brief moment there he is about to finally tell her because he thinks she will understand somehow. But then he backs out and can't. Which makes it super sad. Gah. :(

He might as well be half-joking. At some point him mentioning the Veil turned into a running joke among the companions.

I laughed especially when I went with Varric and Cassandra on Exalted Plains and first thing Varric did was "Oh, I can't wait when Chuckles mentions the Veil!" to which Solas responds "I don't always mention the Veil *pouts*"

Both Cass and Inquisitor (yes, my romanced Lavellan): "Yes, you do."

Or the time when Cass joins Sera in JOH in describing how the Veil is wobbly and squishy and you only can hear his exasperated sigh

Though I suppose he appreciates that Lavellan doesn't mock him at the end, she's simply like "Oh, you and your quirks  <3..."

**Sorry if this has already be resolved...I'm late on things, as usual.

Regarding Solas' reaction to the guard tied up on Celeste's bed, I give you this picture I posted a few weeks back:

PBTeamNH2_zps1pgpkab8.jpg

As you can see, he has an amused appearance, over the whole affair. He can give you disapproval points, if you take certain choices regarding the guard (off the top of my head, I can't remember which one). Mace Cadash (my IQ from that play through), released him to be used in the negotiations. No approval was lost from Solas.

Haha yes indeed, even his come ons are about the veil. :P

But romanced Lavellan actually seems impressed in that scene.

Until the whole...breakup thing. Totally not impressed!

It only happened to me once, after several playthroughs in which it didn't, so I can imagine my surprise - I even made screenshots to make sure I wasn't imagining it xD

Solas does know that all mages can sense where the Veil is weak, right?

Make me wonder if he thinks it's just something he alone can do and for millennia now, every mage he's around has just been humouring him, since he always sounds so happy when he talks about it. They don't have the heart to tell him that they all have spidey-sense.

So, all the talk about the Crestwood cave made me go back there and really take a good look around and you know......I think it has to be the site of a very significant event leading to the fall of Arlathan.....and an event featuring our dear Solas.

Because think about it, Solas just telling Lavellan who he is and all that honestly would come off as...well, crazy. I mean, even if she didn't freak out because he's the big, bad Dread Wolf I would imagine that the average Lavellan would at least say "Prove it."  So, in order to do that he takes her somewhere the Veil is thin and easy to access the Fade and may still have spirits acting out the events that took place there.

Now what event took place there, I don't know. The murals that go around the cave are the red templar looking character, the zombie looking elves, a dragon and some mounted elves that look like they are riding into battle. So, the dragon kinda says to me that maybe it was something to do with Mythal? Or maybe even that story of the sinner who belonged to Dirthamen. I mean, supposedly the sinner took the form reserved for the gods or whatever at the urging of Ghilan'nain....and I think the statues pretty clearly show this must have been some sort of shrine or something to her.

Also, in regards to the murals, the only people it makes sense to me to have painted all the murals everywhere are elves who were from very low slave ranks. I bet everywhere we see the murals painted were actually historical sites that these freed slaves may have gone to to tell the stories of what happened. And since they probably did not know how to read or write, they painted murals instead to tell what happened. Abelas seems to know how to read and write, and probably the other sentinels as well, but I'm talking these were the low, low slaves.

Another interesting note, is that outside the cave are statues representing Falon'Din and Fen'Harel. There is also the astrarium thingy for Kios outside.

Either way, I think whatever the event was Solas must have wanted to show it to Lavellan....and it is such a bummer we didn't get to see it. Because something tells me whatever it was, seeing that one event would fill in a lot of holes for us. I'm not saying there still wouldn't be a ton of questions afterwards....but I think we would understand a lot.

I think Bioware should show us in a DLC. I'm just sayin'.

..... Not really sure I can imagine Solas fancying that type of thing in bed, gotta be honest xD; May be wrong though :P

Tough to say. He's lived a loooong time, rofl. Plus he has that 'indomitable focus' flirt. And with the Cole "you should ask Solas to bind you, too" line...well, it just begs for a snarky joke once in a while ;)

To be fair, I don't think any mage is as attuned to the Veil as Solas is - hence he doesn't just say when the Veil is thin, but also when it's warped or modified or when it trembles. The closest to him in terms of sensitivity would likely be Cole, who is a spirit.

This is the reason why I wondered what's so special about this place - I mean yes, the Veil is thin there, but what makes the Veil thin there in the first place? :P

I'm not sure if this is a place that was significant in a sense that something happened there that lead to fall of Arlathan - it seems that it was either a site of worship or perhaps of a very intense spiritual energy or something.

I'd even postulate that they might be something like Veil's energetic 'leylines', 'chakrams' or 'meridian lines' in a similar fashion some New Age enthusiasts claim Earth has - and place like the one in Crestwood IS one, hence it was both a site of interest to elvhen gods, as well as a good spot to grow Red Lyrium.

Yeah, but Cole didn't mean it THAT way (I'd be bewildered if he did, and I think Solas and IQ would be too o___O).

As for Solas living long time... sure, though I still don't get that vibe out of him. In this regard he seems to be on the 'experienced and suave' side, which will likely make any girl temporarily lose her indomitable focus in bed ;) without the need for involvement of chains or him turning into Christian Graaa..... Oh, nope nope nope! Neither Solas nor DAI in general should be anywhere near mentions of "50 Shades of Gray" >.<!

Yep, I got that too! Once, can't remember where, Sera goes "The Veil is girlish here," and Solas wasn't even in the party for her to try and embarrass. They all know it's his favorite thing on the planet.

So when he did it in the breakup scene it really is just "Oh, you." Like he's sharing it with her too, right? Again, so cute, before it turns sad.

It's the Cole mention that got me "serious" :D He's to innocent to be connected with such 'dark' things >.>'... Which is why you can imagine my bewilderment when it was revealed to me that (very) young (female) DAI fanfiction loooooove writing Cole as LI for their self-inserts

Oh, Dragon Age should totally be near 50 Shades of Grey.  So that each and every one of the male LIs can tell Christian Grey exactly what they think of him.

Tied down in a relationship with someone, or tied down like you'd expect during a romp with Iron Bull?

I can imagine him and Iron Bull having a very serious talk. Meanwhile Solas would likely be outraged by the whole contract thing and Christian's (*cough*Edward's*cough*) controlling behavior.

I have my doubts if he'd ever provide an answer - and I wonder whether people thinking that Solas is into "the whole tied down stuff" stems from the fact that Weekes wrote both him and Iron Bull?

Despite both of them clearly being different characters who treat romanced Inquisitors differently, that is.
