Could be a betrayal, but if so I kinda wonder why Cassandra is just standing there. I'm still getting a "teaching" this is how you do it vibe.

 

That seems most likely but I do like to consider the possibilities.  Especially since some things were intended to be or were put in with the knowledge that they would be misleading.

So uh... am I the only thinking that the hand grabbing could possibly be a betrayal now?

The first time is Blackwall ,but someone says it again afterwards

You may be right.  I couldn't pick out any of the words over the various other noises in that scene.

we havent heard his voice in game really no (not clearly anyway), but we've heard his VA in other things. a sample of GDL [the VA] talking is in the OP for example. he plays Ianto in torchwood. we know how Solas's voice sounds, though (welsher than the Welsh VA's natural speaking voice) because the VA himself told about it in a Twitter Q&A. the 8 minute gameplay video is the top link in that post.

I'm joining this thread. After seeing Solas showing the Inquisitor how to close the tear I so want to be able to romance him.

I considered that too; that it's a result of a choice and a confident or trusting Inquisitor won't see it.

NOT AT ALL. I am so looking forward to shortcuts instead of having to walk the same line all the time ahhh. I really do like what I've seen of the gameplay more and more... I just wish they'd show the PC INTERFACE. I can't stand controller layouts. They tend to be cumbersome and contrived and to drive me crazzzy. So having to see that stupid wheel and stupid limited shortcut cluster in the corner, it's like AUGH. It's so ugly to my eye and it's really taking away from it, for me at least.

That said whenever they do get around to ditching the XBox controller (pls let it be soon) I'll probably explode with excitement sooo.

 

Yes! And being able to essentially, move FORWARD instead of retracing, will be absolutely lovely.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: my idea of The Perfect Game™ is a lovechild between BioWare and Bethesda - BioWare's story, companions, and characters merged with Bethesda's large areas of world/exploration and more freedom of movement. While DAI is not full open world, we've been told the areas we can go are HUGE, and while we can't swim, we can still jump and not be so set on a specific walking path, so... I'm getting pretty stoked that I might finally have The Perfect Game™.

So glad to see I wasn't alone in this. <3's Freedom of movement.

 

YES. I don't need it to be a totally Open World. But the larger areas where I can actually scale around? Yes yes yes yes yes!

 

I was pretty excited about the jumping too!  No longer will my heroines and heroes be defeated by small rocks on the ground!

 

I don't quite have your optimism but it does look like it will be an amazing game. 

 

David Gaider has an interesting post in the Gamescom thread, thought I'd bring it over here since we were swooning talking about what was going on in the hand-grabbing scene (bolding mine):

Yes, on DG's post, people get way too worked up on fan theories and so often they are REALLY out there. I find myself shaking my head sometimes when people try to jump on over-thinking things and second guessing things, too much.

My hopes may be too high, but even if the reality doesn't quiiiite measure up to all my wildest hopes and dreams, it's still shaping up to be The One, with everything I've been waiting for and never found rolled all into one game. Except now with EVEN MOAR MAGIC PANTS.

 

Also, I keep forgetting there are joined hands in that screenshot because, er, reasons. Very...eye-catching...reasons.

 

Edit: This is girly of me, but I'm really liking all the different armor, robes, hints of casual wear...I hope my Inquisitor gets a nice walk-in closet.

 

I'm trying to remain low on specific expectations, but just what I'm seeing in the gameplay vids has me excited. I'm hoping the controls are nice and intuitive without anything too dang weird. "Hold the trigger and press in the right toggle to jump" lol I doubt anything like that, but I had to make the joke.

 

It would not actually surprise me if we DID get a walk in armour/clothes "closet" in game...hahaha

Also, I am clearly losing what little bit of my mind I had left. Driving home for lunch, Sisqo's "Thong Song" came on the radio (talk about throwback) and I almost wrecked laughing so hard because the bit about "she had dumps like a truck, truck truck... thighs like what, what, what... baby, move your butt, butt, butt" totally made me think of Solas's thigh and booty shots.

 

I have a problem and it's only gonna be solved by this dang game coming out.

 

Also, I totally feel bad for poor Solas. I mean, Patrick said he was an introvert and here we all are ogling him like he's standing on a Chippendale's stage. Not sure if he'd be horrified with an underlying feel of manly pride or just plain horrified.

He grabs an unsure Inquisitor and whatever they do causes some sort of explosion.  Being an impatient teacher is one very valid explanation!  But there are other possible explanations too, I think.  Like the explosion not being the expected result (according to the Inquisitor).  I don't think it's likely, to be honest, but it's something to consider.  And David Gaider warned against getting your heart set on any ideas based on speculation from the trailers.  I'm just keeping an open mind.

Maybe solas already knows what the inquisitor can do with the glowy hand and the inquisitor is like "I don't wanna!" and Solas has to be all "Dammit Inquisitor" *grabs hand*  From what I've read Solas is a rift mage.

 

Plus I don't see any betrayal in the part where Solas grabs the inquisitors hand.....I don't understand one bit of where you are getting that and the explosion is when the Inquisitor shuts the veil closed we have seen it in the other demos. Like I said it just looks like Solas is trying to show the inquisitor what he can do with the hand also the iinquisitor might be hesitating and that is why Solas grabs his hand like he does. *shrug*
