So my canon Lavellan did not drink from the Well, but it was based on what Cole said to her rather than what Solas said. She would probably then spend a lot of time picking Morrigan's brain about the knowledge she gained from the Well and be quietly amused by Morrigan being bound in some way to her mother/Mythal.
My second playthrough Lavellan will probably drink from the well. She doesn't believe in the divinity of the Creators, and if they are not all sealed away then she believes that they have possibly faded into uthenera or something, since she has seen no evidence that they care about the People at all. So she would dismiss the idea that there will be any real consequences to drinking from the Well.
On another note about Solas, the Anchor, and the Orb. Is anyone else wondering why the orb broke? The way Solas talks about the orb, he makes it sound nigh indestructible. I have two theories 1) whatever the Inquisitor does when they use the orb to heal the Breach somehow uses all the remaining magics within the orb 2) the blight related magics that Corypheus uses to unlock the orb compromises its integrity in some way
I know that there are chunks of the Temple of Sacred Ashes falling out of the sky, but I am not really buying that as the sole reason that the Orb is in pieces. It did survive the explosion at the Conclave after all.

It's been a few pages ago, but I wanted to answer Neverland's questions (sorry if I'm jumping in the middle of something, I didn't read the lastest posts)
Sooo, I've been spending a lot of time on the Solas thread lately and it (you guys) have made me wonder a few things...
Is your favorite Dragon Age character Solas? Or better yet, answer these questions!
1. Who are your favorite Dragon Age, non-romancable companion characters?
Spoiler
Shale
Sten
Dog
Nathaniel
Varric
DA2 Marethari
2. Who is your favorite Dragon Age romancable character?
Spoiler
Fenris and Cullen, because of how they overcome their respective traumas.
Solas, because... well, we all know plenty of reasons
3. Who is your favorite Dragon Age non-playable character?
Spoiler
Flemeth, I didn't like her very much in DAO, but what we've seen of her in DA2 and Inquisition made me love her.
And the Arishok, because I love all things Qunari and he's exactly how I picture the quintessential Qunari to be. I love how he evolves from not even consider Hawke a rival to trying to make him/her understand his actions and the Qun. Also, dat voice.
4. Do you have a favorite Dragon Age character?
Flemeth.
Also, these random non-Solas/vaguely Solas related questions have been bouncing around my head for quite a time, care to share you ideas/answers?
1. How the flying flamingo did Morrigan manage to move a HUGE FRICKING BREAKABLE MIRROR in and out of Skyhold without being spotted (I assume she wasn't spotted since the Inquisitor is surprised to see the Eluvian gracing her fort'r presense)?
Spoiler
Because she's a writer's pet Honestly, I find no good reason given in game for many of what Morrigan achieves; developers want us to assume that she's just so smart and resourceful that she can manage (yes, I know I'm bitter, I'm really annoyed by this thing Bioware does with certain characters of forcing the PC to have the perspective they want.
2. I have a hard time believing Solas never came across Kieran at Skyhold (if he exists and has the Old God soul in him). Would he have known what Kieran was harboring, or how it came to be?
Spoiler
I really didn't think about it before. My guess is that Solas can sense the Old God soul even if he wasn't physically close to Kieran, but if he did so, he must have actively avoided him. How he knows that would arise too many questions, and Kieran being a child may make him say something about Solas he doesn't want to be known (like he does with the PC)
3. If your world state has a non Cousland or Anora married King Alistair is he married? Because if not he owes some non noble Wardens some apologies.
Spoiler
I don't think I understand the question...
4. So, BioWare created all these new creatures for Dragon Age that we meet as we're wondering across Thedas, but we never run into ghasts? Are we forgetting those ever happened or are they just that uncommon (didn't seem very uncommon to Hawke)?
Spoiler
I really hope they forgot those ever happened, I detest those type of creatures Maybe they are fairly common in certain areas but unseen in others?
5. Did Bodhan and Sandal die in Kirkwall? I was really expecting to them at the Winter Palace, but no, they weren't there and there was no word of them either. You think Sandal would cause some court gossip...
Spoiler
I don't think so. Bodahn said they were going to Orlais so I was also hoping to meet them there (certainly would have preferred that to meeting Morrigan) I hope they are appearing in DA4 or DLC, it seemed that Sandal had a big role to play in the future, but it wouldn't be the first time Bioware forgets about seemingly important characters or events.
6. A few pages back I mentioned it being strange that Lavellan didn't refer to the Fade as the Beyond, and that she never let out any elven curses, but what else is strange is that if you aren't role-playing a Lavellan clan that interacted and traded with humans (like I am) your Lavellan is very accepting of shemlen's and their culture. I mean, just look at how Merrill acted (although Merrill was a special little Daisy), even your Mahariel can be awkward or anti-shemlen. So, how did you guys work around this character hiccup?
Spoiler
It is stated in the character background that clan Lavellan has contact with humans; I guess you can vary the degree of contact and non-hostility, but if you RP your Lavellan that way you are actively deviating from what's established in the game (not that you can't do it or it's wrong; but personally I like to base my headcanon on what's on the game already and not contradict it) You have a point, though; I guess it was impossible due to resources and the protagonist being conceived as human-only at the beginning, but I would have liked Lavellan to act a little awkward around humans, in Haven at least. I mean, your clan may have had contact with humans before, but you have spent your whole life with your clan and know you are living among them (many of them devout Andastrians who may be hostile towards your own faith) I would have definitely liked an extra cutscene with a strange situation or even the possibility to answer in a hostile way if your PC is anti-shemlen.
My way or working around it is, like many things, headcanon. I headcanon that my Lavellan's adjusting to the Inquisition, to being around so many shemlens and away from her clans, caused a lot of conflict and argument in the beginning. But she gradually became used to the human ways and also she was so absorbed by her fighting against Corypheus that she couldn't think anymore about how uncomfortable were those boots they made her wear (I know, my headcanon is ridiculously detailed)
7. If Anders or an abomination similar to Anders impregnated someone/got pregnant would the child be different?
Spoiler
I guess reproduction being a purely physical affair it didn't necessarily have to; but fantasy rules being what they are, the child would probably have an affinity for the Fade, the ability to contact spirits without corrupting them, or something along those lines.
I have thought many times if there would be any consequence to the child due to the Anchor if a female IQ got pregnant. I can't decide yet.
8. Was a Kieran that was fathered by a dwarf able to be created because of magic? If not why isn't there any other mention of dwarf and human children?
Spoiler
I guess it is physically difficult to establish; I mean, would it be possible for a dwarf mother to give birth to a human-sized baby? If not, does it mean that all human-dwarven babies are dwarves?Same goes for Qunari; I guess that's why Bioware didn't address it. It's a tricky issue and maybe they prefer to avoid it because most players choose a human character.
9. WHERE ARE ALL THE CHILDREN?? Seriously, they already had a character model for Kieran, why not dump some of those crotch dumplings into the world of Thedas? I think children, and animals, add a lot of emotional depth to stories and there was a lot of potential for Connor and Emilia(?) like tough story decisions.
Spoiler
I was watching my bf play The Witcher 3 and we were talking about this. There are children (properly made and voiced) and animals everywhere in that game, it makes the world feel so alive. Then again Bioware aren't very good at making children (I loved Connor in DAO, but his looks and voiced were... odd) Kieran didn't feel completely right either.
10. We've had one companion journey over to the next game in each installment of Dragon Age (Origins-Awakening: Oghren Awkening-DA2: AndersxJustice DA2-Inquisition: Varric). Saying that they continue this tradition, who's most likely/who do you want to be a companion in DA4? Note: I said companion I think Solas will be in the next game, but not as a companion.
Spoiler
I couldn't say, I'd love to see Cole but it would be difficult given he can be expelled from the Inquisition or not even recruited.
You are so not alone in this! I have several themes within my Solavellan playlist with a few songs in each theme that I would listen to on repeat depending on my mood:
Solavellan happy times list. I literally put the song I danced to on my wedding in this, because it creates the feeling of a calm, timeless moment, yet it makes you aware of the merciless passing of time.
Spoiler
Lavellan heartbreak list.
Solas and Lavellan have arguments and she pushes him too far list.
Solas rebellion list. I've been on the lookout for epic songs invoking images of battles and sacrifice. Also some really angsty Evanescence songs about being unhappy with the establishment that I should really have more shame to admit I listen to.
And now I'm going to go assemble the dance in the Winter Palace list. Thanks for the idea!
I don't really have a playlist for anything, not even my own projects xD (aside from a mashup of a few 'fitting' songs I suppose), but I think I've found a song that fits the relationship.
Spoiler
- this is specifically for Lavellan that is sort of deep down aware where this is all going - maybe even had a good, long talk with Varric about "You know that he's not looking for friends or... more, right? Chances are he'll be gone after this is over", but chooses to ignore it and rushes into relationship head-on.... maybe because she's also aware that, despite giving her darnedest to do a good job and stay upbeat all the way through, she knows that eventually this whole 'Inquisitoring' business will claim her life, so goddamnit - two people with little left may at least enjoy some time together before that happens.
Then, of course, things go too far and it is all becoming an affair with a desperate, unsaid 'Please stay'/'I don't want this to end' plea in the background - up until the worst happens in the moment she least expects it.
(... appropriately, the name of the band is "Two Steps From Hell" xD)

I think it's a combination of those things. The Inquisitor does use the Anchor to take the orb and uses it to finish Corypheus off and then seal the Breach for good. The orb drops and we see it drop. It is not broken. We see things falling down but none of them hit it, otherwise Solas wouldn't just run over and pick it up, it would be under something.
I think, after being in Corypheus' use for so long, it was likely corrupted and weakened, and although it did not shatter immediately, the final two efforts the power was used for may have just sort of weakened it so much it just broke.
Also, we don't know what "unlock" meant in terms of what Solas says. maybe unlocking its power destroys it. (I'm under the impression this is not the case because Solas somehow made Cory in possession of the orb and expected him to be able to unlock it and die and let Solas come in and recover it intact. So I think the destruction is an unexpected result because Solas is so distraught at the end).
Of course, this could also be animation oversight, since we see it hit the ground intact.

We see it hit the ground intact, but not glowing and also smoldering, if I remember right. I think all of its remaining power was channeled through Inquisitor to properly seal the Breach (before it was only semi-closed. There was still a vortex of clouds in the sky and Cassandra tells Inquisitor that according to Solas, the sky is "scarred, but calm").
The only reason I think Solas wasn't rushing to stop Inquisitor was probably because he knew that if the Breach won't be closed, all of his plans are for nothing, hence the Orb was pretty much lost to him ever since Corypeus decided to rip the sky open again.
I do wonder what he means when he tells Inquisitor (only befriended/romanced one) that "This was not supposed to happen this way". Because, for some reason, I don't think he just means the entire initial fiasco with Corypheus...
I watched this again the other day. It is definitely not glowing and something else is up, but it's also not in pieces as Solas finds it and although chunks of rock and debris are falling, nothing comes down and hits it. In a world where magic exists, it's not impossible it just...split itself from fragility.

Probably because there's nothing inside to keep it together anymore.
You know, in my first (and blind) playthrough I thought it odd that he insisted that the orb would be found intact. Looking back I don't know what made me feel this way, but every time mention of the orb came up I just got this feeling that it wouldn't be that simple. Imagine how I felt when the thing actually broke?

For me, that line was total foreshadowing that the orb was going to end up broken. I also think that it is an additional comment on Solas' hubris that he can't even imagine the possibility that the Orb might be compromised enough to end up broken or that something could break it. With all the evidence we have that red Lyrium is really messed up, it surprises me that you can't have a conversation with Solas about the impact Corypheus' magic might have had on the Orb. Of course, a conversation like that could have drastically changed to outcome of the game. And ditto for any conversation on how to properly use the Orb to heal the Breach without potentially using up all its magic.
@ Cee is it just me or does it make a kind of tinny hollow sound as it hits the ground? This could just be what the developers decided was going to be the noise it would make being made of some unknown material
For me, that line was total foreshadowing that the orb was going to end up broken.
Yes, that certainly was less than subtle foreshadowing As well as something of a sad irony... again. Poor Solas, irony just likes you waaaaay too much.

Considering that Solas wasn't able to predict that Corypheus will survive the blast or tap into Orb's power (Solas even tells Quizzy at some point that he could never have imagined that ancient Tevinter magister would be able to gain access to it) I have my doubts about him knowing the extent of the impact of Blight on it.
Besides - if you look at the fight with Cory, you'll notice that he uses the last of his strength, and at the very end he's barely able to hold it, which is why Inquisitor uses he Anchor to snap it out of his grasp. At that point the Orb looked... 'healthy' for lack of better word. It didn't glow reddish anymore - it was all green, glowy and buzzing with power. Therefore I think that Orb my have simply be spent entirely on fully closing the re-opened Breach.
Plus, any talk about the Orb would likely make Solas look more and more suspicious, especially at the end of a game - due to all the stuff that's happening, not just him growing careless, it was inevitable. This is also why I think he stays away from people like Kieran or Morrigan at the end of the game, and basically shuts himself nearly entirely to people, romanced or un-romanced (with un-romanced IQ we only have the last conversation with him and he even tells - when IQ notes that he sounds like he's saying his goodbyes - that he may be unable to say them later so he uses opportunity to say it now).

I kind of recall some sound when it happens but didn't think much of it. I just figured it for the drop. It's still whole and standing in the far pan out. When Solas comes to look, it's in pieces.
Since foreshadowing was mentioned.... anybody thinks that the quest in Hinterlands - the one we have to kill a demon that force-leads the pack of wolves, may be something of a foreshadowing as well?
I'm not sure exactly foreshadowing of what - there are parallels to Templars being a group led by Envy demon, but considering all the 'wolfy' symbolism I kinda wonder if this isn't the possible scenario: Fen'Harel's own 'pack' has been under the influence of a demon (or powerful demon-like creature?) and this is the first thing Solas has to save them from?
Oy... or what if he's unwilling member of the pack as well, bound by some kind of previous bargain and forced to do stuff under some form of demonic command, but secretly tries to work something out to get rid of the demonic packmaster?
Just a far-fetched speculation, that.
In any case - it's always cute to get the Token Of The Packmaster.... having all those black wolves follow you around when you wear it and even fight for you, d'awww >D
I just don't get why Quizzy carelessly drops the orb. I mean if you romanced/ befriended Solas, one would think that he/she would keep a hold of it and hand it over to him. When I saw my PC do that I thought "Uh... what are you doing?! It's an ancient elven artifact! Somebody could take it or it could get damaged." But no. Just *thud*. Like refuse.
I agree that the foci might have been weakened by Cory's red lyrium/blight power.

Yes, and I always equip it on Solas and pretty much leave it there for the rest of the game.

This was bugged when I did it, and we still had no storage yet, so I had it on Cole for a bit and then sold it. My mage has yet to finish the Hinterlands, but this should be fun now that it works.
I suspect the important bit here might be the idea of powerful spirits being connected to horcrux-esque items that need to be simultaneously destroyed with the body in order to successfully kill them. A hint at the nature of the Pantheon's foci, maybe? Could be relevant if we're really going to go head-to-head with Elgar'nan in the future.
If we're throwing out theory-bait, a JoH codex that I'm totally at a loss for is this one:
Spoiler
There's just... so little context. A familial brother? Or a religious Brother? Why was the note-maker concerned with tracking down potential relatives in the Basin? I have no idea why this entry exists, or how it's connected to the plot of JoH at all.
Summary: [Post Game][Solas/Lavellan] Where was the Maker when the Chantry turned on innocents? Where was He when the burnings began? Was He the one who sent the Seekers into our villages? Into our cities? Into our homes and into our lives? The Chantry claimed many things. Prophetic visions. Divine will. Reincarnation. Certainly, the blame for what happened can be laid at their feet. In the end, however, it was we who made the decisions. We were responsible because we did nothing to stop them. Nobody was happy, even those who still believed in the Maker and his will. Most of us bowed our heads, hiding and hoping that the storm would blow over. When our neighbors were taken - when the people we loved and cared about were stolen from us - we sat in silence and allowed tragedy to unfold.
