Sometimes these hurt my brain a bit. Solas doesn't look like every other bald man with similarly colored eyes. Or Nicolas Cage. Maybe it's just me.
Some people just see similarities where there are none - or just seem to pay attention to this one huge thing they have in common (omg, look, they're both bald!!), while ignoring all the rest ^^;

I was clearing up some of my C Drive by uninstalling stuff I don't need...and I accidentally uninstalled DAI...which means I have to redownload it cause my last backup was from before I installed DAI after updating Windows...and...and...it'll take me FOREVER to redownload it. *sob*

I just got used to how loose comparisons can be, to a point that I almost don't pay attention to it anymore 
I mean, unless someone is very insistent that this or that is sooooo similar, while I just can't goddamn see it.

Their faces are completely different IMO.

His face shape, eyes proportionate to his chin etc, seem just a tad bit too far out of the usual range. Slightly too elongated, especially his chin though this can be due to the games expressions distorting the face too much. I can slightly see the Nicholas Cage references, as a few of the features are similar (eyes and nose mostly) but horror of horrors, could you imagine Solas played with his voice and speech patterns? *shudder*

So is it bad I ship Superman and Luthor together? I feel like Luthor is only evil because Superman is to much of a boy scout to come out of the closet.
I would let Lex Solas put me in a glass tube any day. 
Speaking of voices, one of my favorite funny facts about development!Solas. This always makes me giggle trying to imagine it.

Other interesting nuggets of information were that about 25% of players use tactical mode all the time, with most others only using it where necessary, that bears were the bane (and ultimate opponent) of many playtesters, and for a long time Solas had text to speech for his lines, which some players thought suited him.

IDK the actor looks closer to Solas than a lot of fancasts.

Like - at all. Maybe it's the fact that both are pale, have elongated faces and prominent nose, lips, but shape of those?
Solas has quite specific 'elfy' facial features (cheekbones, eyes and nose, especially... not mentioning ears, because DUH! ) - that is: you likely won't be seeing such features anywhere IRL. Some people may find them too unusual for their tastes, or can't really pin them, so they go to what they *think* looks vaguely similar at first glance.
Me? I'm fine with them - I like unique and characteristic faces as much as I like flawless, commonly considered attractive ones. IMO it's all about proportions (when we're talking about design/look alone).
That's an odd coincidence, my headcanon for my Lavellan has her around 23 as well.
(Trevelyan is about 25/26, Adaar is 28 and Cadash is 35)
I don't why it bothers me so much when people make their Warden/Inquisitor/etc. in their early 20s but it does. Head-canon: 32! Lavellan is 32. She wakes up in the morning and stretches, most nights she's too tired to do anything but sleep, and the best day of her life was when she discovered that the Orlesians made great face lotion. At the same time she's experienced enough to stand toe-toe with everyone else in the game.

Honestly, Solas is so strange looking in features and especially in facial proportions (though it somehow works for him) that I can't imagine ever thinking he looks like any real life celebrity. Every time I see posts like that, I never see what people see. Same with the huge Nick Cage kick way back in the summer before the game's release.

I think so too. There's a certain triangular quality to Solas, and a sharpness that also gave me a 'wolf' vibe once I knew.
Somewhere between like, a wolf and a dog in the Spitz family.
For some reason Solas reminds me of Zachary Quinto. I don't know why..they look nothing alike.

From design standpoint Solas is simply a walking "Triangularity". What I mean is - all DAI elves have pretty sharp features that would fit into triangular shapes (I assume the inspiration was the triangular shape of their ears), but with his design they went with Triangle Overload

They're all triangles. Dogs from Samoyeds, Shiba Inus, to Pomeranians in that family have heads like that. That's exactly what I was going for by posting a doggy pic...other than I love dogs and the Spitz family are probably my favorites.

And like I said, there's a trinagular motif in all DAI elves design - my Lavellan also has something of a triangular, albeit much softer, thing going (especially that I see her totem animal being a fox... yes, this is as cheesy ans pretentious as it gets).
So while I think they DID go for some 'wolfy' motif in Solas design, I think his face was simply supposed to scream purebread 'ELFINESS!"
