He is concerned with modern elves, but the ones he has met have been mostly fragmented, stubborn, and resistant, so he feels they are not in a position to help their situation, clinging to certain ideals and practices.

 

And he regrets whatever actually happened to leave elves across Thedas in such a fragmented, scarred, mortal state.

The longer we go without DLC, the crazier my own theories get.  One that I can't entirely shake, even though I know it's completely ridiculous and totally not true is that the Nightmare might be Sylaise.

No need to tell me that makes absolutely no sense.  I already know.  There's just this tiny, stupid, stubborn part of my brain that refuses to drop it.  

 

1)  If we assume there's a one-to-one relationship between Tevinter's Old Gods and the Pantheon, then Sylaise makes the most sense as Toth.

 

2)  If we also assume Dumat-Dirthamen-Solas, Zazikel-Andruil-Sera, Andoral-June-Sandal and Urthemiel-Ghilan'nain-Kieran, then Toth is the only slain Archdemon OGS currently unaccounted for.  If she wasn't reincarnated because she wasn't on the "right side" of the Elvhenan civil war, then we might be talking about a very powerful identity-wiped OGS that's still trapped in the Fade.

 

3)  For reasons I can't even begin to put my finger on, Sylaise strikes me as an avatar of Order/Community whose original instincts might have been twisted to dominating and controlling her flock "for their own good".  Something about her just gives me a Rhythm of the War Drums vibe.

4)  All of this is pretty directly contradicted by Solas, who describes the Nightmare as a Spirit of Compassion grown twisted and monstrous by absorbing fears.   Simple, right?  Can't be Sylaise, it's a Spirit of Compassion.  To which the same stubborn part of my brain replies that each member of the Pantheon seems to have a thematic spirit representative, and that Compassion really isn't a terrible fit for what seems to have been the avatar of Community...  

 

...to which all I can say is SERIOUSLY, SHUT UP BRAIN, while I continue to wait patiently for DLC.

I think he means elves in general - but likely to save the modern elves, he may have to save the old ones.

 

If you read what Abelas wrote in untranslatable elven writing (http://dragonage.wik...e_Elven_Writing) you may note that he mentions that "without the wise to lead them, they will lose what they should have been".

 

It kinda mirrors what Solas said to Sera at some point - "you're the farthest from what you were meant to be". Kinda tells me that at some point elves lost some sort of important knowledge, or... dunno... something that made them either unique or powerful. Likely only the ancient ones - as well as elvhen gods - have any inkling of what that is.

My own crazy, hole-ridden theory is that Solas used to be a slave to Dirthamen, per that one codex entry in the temple of Mythal. I just like to imagine a slave uprising led by him. Also, since my Lavellan is a fan of Dirthamen, it just gives me so much headcanon material. 

 

As an aside, I bet whenever we find The Truth, there will be some contradictions in it with some earlier material in the game, just like the holes in many fan theories, and we will have to explain them away somehow. And that will be OK.

Now I'm thinking of playing Sims 3 Supernatural with Solas and Lavellan as fairies. I'll have them prank other sims around the neighbourhood and working together in their magical fairy garden

Well i thought we have nothing else to theorize about here and we all sitting and waiting for story dlc I do love when i read anything about this game theory or fact here on the forum :)Then i went in game to see for myself with free cam Found the statue that MayriyaNoori talked about the one believed to be Dirthamen's took some screens and wondered as well why the one in the fade has a sword in his back

Then i went out of map and found myself in the first place where we go in Here Lies the Abyss and found the statue of Mythal and i cant recall if we can see it there while we do the quest,i'll pay more attention when i reach with another char because i reloaded my save and even if i went out of map i could not find the place where we go to meet Flemeth later on.

Nice. Fairy Solas pranking folk would be funny. I made this one a witch, but as it turns out, he's actually pretty crap at magic so far. It amuses me to no end. I may have to make a Dorian to slag him off. His traits were Artistic, Broody (hah!), Loner, Genius and Supernatural Fan (I think). He spends a lot of time pondering the meaning of life, painting and talking about spirits. Seriously. I made him a ghost hunter. All the spirits he captures, he sets free instead of selling them. 

 

Unfortunately, i'm not sure how my niece will take having him in her game. Hopefully she won't notice and I can keep him. :-)

I found a Fenris skin for TS2.  I may have made Fenris.

 

I should fire up my copy of TS3 and make Solas and Lavellan.

Haven't played in a while either, work was very busy for a while, then I became obsessed with a certain video game... I used to make Sim versions of favorite anime characters all the time.

ah ok thanks for the info its good to hear, he is definitely the kind of leader the elves can believe in, i took the romance rout with him and he sacrifices his very heart for his cause.

I have some Solavellan stuff still not done and I started a short epistolary fic series between f!Cousland/Leliana intended to go through the timeline of Inquisition that I would like to take back up again.

 

But in some ways, I'm glad to not have the focused attention of something like a Message Sent because there's no pressure. I think she got a new job and thus last update was a tease a month or so ago. I usually try to not read unfinished fics after seeing many just drop off but alas, I can never keep that promise to myself.
