I just wanted to pop in and say that the moment where Solas holds up the Inquisitor's hand during the breach sealing made my interest in him ping a bit.  It was a really interesting moment and I'd love to learn more about his relationship with the Inquisitor.  Is he a mentor?  A peer who feels confident that he can assist an unsure inquisitor in a critical moment?  Just a really cool moment.  Solas is shaping up to be a very interesting guy.

I completely agree. That single scene adds something interesting to his character. I mean, we've heard from GDL that Solas is 'badass' and 'nails', but, before this moment, all we've heard about Solas is that he seems to be an easy-going guy with an open mind and an interesting moral compass. That scene changes things. I mean, the dude grabs the Inquisitor's glowing magic hand and holds it against a Fade tear. Like, what? It startled me, honestly, and made Solas far more intriguing.

We've been waiting for a sign of the scotch-bonnet part of the candy. Guess we found it.  ;)

(Let me sing to you my love of Solaaaaaas~)

Is it just me or does it seem that the Hawke reveal in the trailer seems to be over-shadowing the Demo from today......no? just me ok then.  :P

People are very attached to their Hawkes and Wardens, and are very touchy about how they are treated. Personally, I've come to terms that Ceyrion and Essery are now beyond my reach. All I can do is meta-game the duck out of DAI so that they and their LI's survive.

I'm actually really excited about the fact that the Inquisitor is called "the Herald of Andrastre". I can't wait to play a Dalish character who's torn between their own beliefs and being insulted by the title, and knowing that playing it up can make their job much easier. Perhaps a Lady Inquisitor, who romances Cullen (who calls the Inquisitor "the Herald" in the new trailer). Could make for an interesting time.

And of course I'm gonna roll a character who completely buys into the idea that they are the Maker's new Chosen One.  :lol:have to.

Yes... Before today, other than Gareth's comments (which could well have been him playing up his own character, who he has understandably grown attached to) all we've heard about Solas are words like 'earnest' and 'average' and such, and his appearance was rather unassuming compared to the other companions. It was hinted that there was more to it than that, but seeing this side of Solas, where he is so assertive and forceful and unafraid - and willing to take over when we won't (or can't) do what needs to be done - is very new. Its not something you expect to see from the introverted, intellectual, 'scruffy' character he's been presented as. It definitely ups my excitement to find out what he's all about.

The whole "Herald of Andraste" thing is something I could see a more mischievous elf having a little too much fun with, and I very much intend to do that at some point.    But I see my canon Dalish Inquisitor being more sincere and being "no, no", so I'll have to restrain myself there on my first playthrough.

I can understand that. it's just all I"ve seen today is Hawke this Hawke that....bah don't mind me anyways Herald of Andraste huh...that's neat. I will be playing a female human first soooo I don't think she will be insulted at all lol. And hopefully she will be romancing Solas...but we will have to wait and see if he is available first.

It does seem that way, yeah. I mean, I'm definitely excited by the prospect of actually physically seeing them in the game, but there were so many things in that trailer I found a whole lot more interesting. I guess I'm just ready to let those characters go (honestly I'd have been okay with 'they disappeared' so I could imagine what I liked), and am a lot more interested in this new protagonist and how her story plays out.

I'm eagerly anticipating talking to Solas about that green spirit person thing that gave us the glowy powers.

You know, if Solas *is* there shortly after the Inquisitor tumbles back out of the Breach, that raises a question.  How did he get there so fast?  Did he just happen to be in the area?

Yesssssss. I want to hear his opinions on that thing, I want to speak with him as a Dalish, or a Dwarf, or an Andrastrian, or as a Vashoth and have different interpretations based on that character's upbringing. I want discussion and debate

I wonder if what happens is Solas "feels a disturbance in the Fade" and goes to where the explosion happens. Meanwhile, the Inquisitor gets spat out, knocked unconscious, and taken by Cassandra. She inevitably drags them to one of these Fade Tears and tells you to fix it. Solas pops in and, heh, gives you a hand.

... I'm sorry, I still haven't slept since the EA event this morning.

*unpopular opinion time*

I honestly don't care/need to see my Warden or Hawke. I've played those characters and now I want to see something new.

I'm all about the now--The Inquisition, baby!

I don't want to argue either and apologies on my part as well if I seemed really mean I wasn't trying to go towards that I just think this betrayal speculation in the video has me scratching my head like "What?"

Anyways sorry for the double post people.

It's all right.  I was just toying with the idea.  I've said before that it isn't very likely but I didn't think there was harm in considering it.

I'd rather have my old PCs be "off into the sunset" than have them reappear and be out of my control. I'm sort of hoping it's a Fade dream or something.

If the glowy person didn't look so female, I'd think a Dalish Quizzy might think it was Falon'Din.  (The headpiece is kinda similar to the statues of him too...)  But then again, since the Dalish believe the Creators are locked away, maybe they would just think it was a really powerful spirit...which is probably true in any case.

And... Solas Senses are Tingling!  :D

I'd seriously love it if a Dalish Inquisitor had the option of thinking that. It used to really irritate me when events or conversations in which your character's race should be recognized or given a nod were ignored.

Solas: Well that was exciting.

Inquisitor: (shaky) What?

Solas: That business with the glowing spirit figure. I'd say it has something to to with (gestures to the Inquisitor's hand) that.

Inquisitor: (staring at hand) What?

Solas: I'd guess that physically entering the Fade marked you some way. Although I'm sure it's more complicated than that.

Inquisitor: Are you some kind of crazy person?

Solas: I'm certain that they would say so.

Inquisitor: Who's "they"?

Solas: That angry-looking armored woman heading towards us with the soldiers.

I totally imagined what you wrote there in my head and I could see Cassandra marching towards them with a "You're dead meat" look on her face. lol

Would that mean Solas gets arrested too?  Somehow I don't see that going very well.

Are we sure our Inquisitor actually closes a Fade breach immediately after that initial explosion? I know that trailer where Cass points the sword at us frames it in way that makes it look like we do, but now I wonder if its actually the case... (I'd rewatch it, but I'm on my phone, and youtube's a pain to get working)
