That's one of my favorites too.
Gosh, I kinda miss being able to talk with your companions anytime you want when on the field. Especially in regards to the romance.
I'd have really liked it if the Keeps were mini-bases that we could have used as homes away from home, where we could have had certain conversations with companions, either unique ones for each place, or just have certain convos in a new location just for the sake of variety.
I feel like they cut a lot of the stuff they were planning from the Keeps out, not only the counter-attacks and customisable features, but the idea that these were places that were meant to be somewhere we could operate from in that region. I barely go to some of them after I've taken them over, which is a shame because some of them are really great to look at.
I do miss the conversations in the field, even if I understand why they removed it (sometimes you could end up getting into a convo mid-fight), but it'd have been nice to have had the chance to have some convos in "safe" areas, have some in specific locations or just have the location comments in DA2 as Cee said, which were often fun little insights into our companions personalities (Isabela's quest to find hat shops) or even hear what Hawke was thinking?
Also it'd have been nice to snog companions in the field, who doesn't want to make out with Solas right next to the shrine of Fen'Harel in the Exalted Plains? Or attempt to get some Fade-tongue while physically in the Fade during HTLA, perhaps leading to your companions exasperation that you're seriously thinking of getting some while in the middle of a place that no mortal should ever venture.
Solas: Ma vhenan, this isn't the place for such things!
Lavellan: Not what you seemed to think that night you visited me in the Fade...
Solas: Vhenan, please!
Varric: As much as I'd like to recount this for my next book, I don't need to know all the details, thanks!
Hawke: I dunno, I could stand to hear a little more...
