Welcome Kay! You're not the only one who gets pulled into the Solas vortex, I had to abandon another Lavellan playthrough to start as a human so I could make sure I'd romance Cullen this time... and even then, that first conversation cemented my belief that my Trevelyan has a crush on Solas.
"My name is Solas, if there are to be introductions."
I didn't even get past that line before realising with horror that my mage would totally fall for him. xD I fought against it for a bit and then eventually gave up. So much for my happy ending...
(Nothing a bit of post-game head-canon-ing can't fix, I guess.)
I'm thinking about playing a human in a later playthrough, so I can romance Cullen without getting swept away by Solas, but I tend to grow super attached to a single 'canon' player character when I really get into a game. My Mahadriel in DAO, my Fenris-mancing sarcastic Hawke in DAII, my little Khajiit in Skyrim. It makes trying to play the game as any other character feel... weird. Plus I don't have very much time for games these days, so given the choice between trying a new character or self-indulgently replaying a canon one... I'll always replay the canon one.
It actually took me a while to get a handle on my Lavellan's personality and underlying motivations. (One of the problems with fully voiced characters... the voice and the delivery of lines end up colouring their personality. Tameirie Lavellan is far softer-spoken than I'd initially concieved her.) Having her fall for Solas when I wanted her with Cullen was where she really started taking form in my head. Now that I understand her, I'm absolutely loving playing as her.

I'm kind of the same way when I play games like Dragon Age or The Elder Scrolls games. I get really attached to characters whom I deemed as my "canon" characters. I adore my Alistair-mancing Mahariel, and Solas-mancing Lavellan (Hawke is kind of a different story but I do like my Anders-mancing f!Hawke among all the Hawkes I have) as well as my female Bosmers in Oblivion and Skyrim. Though I don't mind playing the game a second time as a different race and a different gender. It just takes a bit getting used to.
For my second playthroughs of Dragon Age games I tend to play human males, for some reason. xD
And yes, I'm the type to replay canon characters as well. ![]()
Also it'd have been nice to snog companions in the field, who doesn't want to make out with Solas right next to the shrine of Fen'Harel in the Exalted Plains? Or attempt to get some Fade-tongue while physically in the Fade during HTLA, perhaps leading to your companions exasperation that you're seriously thinking of getting some while in the middle of a place that no mortal should ever venture.
Solas: Ma vhenan, this isn't the place for such things!
Lavellan: Not what you seemed to think that night you visited me in the Fade...
Solas: Vhenan, please!
Varric: As much as I'd like to recount this for my next book, I don't need to know all the details, thanks!
Hawke: I dunno, I could stand to hear a little more...

I think I replayed my canon like 4 times >.>'
Mostly because I'm an incurable perfectionist and after I notice something I haven't done (be it during different play through with a different character or after I read wikia articles for some details) and can't go back to it, there's something I wished I changed in world-state or there are things in that play-through that are just bothering me for some reason... I just can't help but to replay it at some point.
For some time now I've finally got a PT for my main elf mage I'm satisfied with, but I wouldn't be surprised if I replayed it again at some point - likely after we get all the DLCs and I'd start tinkering with mods or something (I'm not using any now, aside from cheat engine, just because I don't want any conflicts with any story expansions we could get).
....Besides, I still have to finish a re-play with my rogue Trevelyan xD;;;
Dunno, he seemed so fascinated by being physically in the fade, I seriously wonder if he would object
I think the question should be - would he even notice Lavellan?
He's like a child someone took to Disneyland, there are so many attractions around!

So I'm not the only one who does it! I'm on my third canon replay after changing my mind about some choices, and that is excluding all the times I have gone back to saves more than 10 hours ago.

Ah, good point! I've watched a playthrough on youtube where the Inquisitor says something like, "It's great you're having such a good time, Solas, but we could really use some advice here!" It was said a somewhat annoyed tone. In that video the IQ was male, but if female Lavellan said it, I could totally interpret it as being jealous ![]()

Solas is a smooth operator, to be sure. He was the character I was probably the least interested in during the run up to Inquisition (since they were so incredibly quiet about him), only to end up being my favourite character from the moment he opened his mouth and started talking.
I'm the same when it comes to my canon playthroughs for various games, I tend to have one or two characters that I enjoy playing (or replaying), but even when I'm rolling a totally different character, I nearly always inevitably chose the same decisions because they've long-since become my canon worldstate and it's locked into my head.

That reminds me, I've been meaning to introduce this as a Solavellan song

You have to wonder, if Solas was right that the Magisters were the first humans to enter the Fade physically and that Elves had beaten them to it (which the existence of the Crossroads suggests is possible), then has anyone ever... y'know, gotten freaky in there?

... With all the spirits/demons watching >.>?
On the other hand, I suppose spirits/demons are always watching, Fade or not... And Inquisitor likely should get used to being watched more carefully than others - after all in JOH the augur tells Quizzy that the Anchor burns brightly for spirits and therefore they always know where he/she is... and what he/she does, I suppose, which is... uh^^;

Wait so when Solas says things are always easier for him in the fade...
Welllll, then there's this banter between him and Blackwall...
Welllll, then there's this banter between him and Blackwall...
Blackwall: Sera and I were just talking about you. We need you to settle a question for us.
Solas: (Sighs.) Sera's involved? So this question will be offensive.
Blackwall: Yes, probably. Sorry.
Blackwall: You make friends with spirits in the Fade. So... um, are there any that are more than just friends? If you know what I mean.
Solas: Oh, for... really?!
Blackwall: Look, it's a natural thing to be curious about!
Solas: For a twelve year old!
Blackwall: It's a simple yes or no question!
Solas: Nothing about the Fade or spirits is simple, especially not that.
Blackwall: Aha! So you do have experience in these matters!
Solas: I did not say that.
Blackwall: Don't panic. It'll be our little secret.
Solas: Ass.
Blackwall: Now who's twelve?
My Lavellan felt a little jealous heading that banter.
Of spirits?
It's not like he was having illicit Fade dates with them at that point anyway. Who cares what he got up to in his hot-blooded and cocky youth?

@Uirebhiril - Maybe it's my dusty age but like yeah...If I was dating a guy that was ostensibly 30-40 and had like...no romantic experiences prior to me, I'd be like "Soooo...what's happened here? Problems???". And he's not 30-40. He's like 8,000 years old if not older. So...yeah.

That... we don't know, really ;P
(a few years after DAI)
Lavellan: "You were in the Fade again! Visiting that... that new spirit of wisdom, haven't you!?"
Solas: "You're overreacting. She's just a friend! Besies, she's just a spirit..."
Lavellan: "Oh I know you and your spirits! Bastard!"

I've doubts that Solas would be a philanderer or likely to use spirits in that way. If it's even possible.
Though curiosity might drive my Lavellan to ask if it is, and if so, what's it like. ![]()

True, though I'm not just saying about him using spirits that way (but who knows what kind of spirits or beings he's met during his journeys, maybe including other elves in uthenera) - anybody watched the movie "Strange Days" with Ralph Fiennes? He plays a cop who can't get over one girl he was madly in love with and he keeps reliving happy memories (including happy memories of them having sex) with a futuristic gadget that records memories... and since the Fade is all about memories... ![]()
Well it wouldn't be using them if it's consentual but he would probably mull over the moral considerations for a century or so before he goes for it.I've doubts that Solas would be a philanderer or likely to use spirits in that way. If it's even possible.

crawls out of pit
I hope you're all well Solassians
