Are we sure our Inquisitor actually closes a Fade breach immediately after that initial explosion? I know that trailer where Cass points the sword at us frames it in way that makes it look like we do, but now I wonder if its actually the case... (I'd rewatch it, but I'm on my phone, and youtube's a pain to get working)
I thought people were just speculating? I don't think it's very likely that the Inquisitor closes a breach right away and even less that Solas is around until after Cassandra lets the Inquisitor out of their cell. Although that begs the question "why does Cassandra think the Inquisitor can help?"

I wouldn't say immediately. My guess would be that, after acquiring Solas, we go back to where the explosion happened and seal the Tear. I'm pretty sure Cass wouldn't be particularly inclined to let the one person that got out of that explosion alive and with a glowy hand to go around pointing it at things.
Would that mean Solas gets arrested too? Somehow I don't see that going very well.
I don't know that's up to Dr. Doctor if he'd like to do a little sequel to what he wrote awhile ago *hint* *hint*
In my mind though....I imagined Solas faking a passing out and leaving the Inquisitor on his own to defend himself....that's not how it was supposed to go you brain of mine.....such silliness.

Now I am imagining Solas getting the Inquisitor in trouble all the time and then pretending to sleep when there are consequences.

I believe she arrests us because we are the only one to survive. I wonder if Solas appears wherever we've been imprisoned and is the one to propose a solution to that big hole in the sky that appeared after the blast - which means he saw it happen (either in the Fade or in reality). Oh! Maybe he goes to the sight to investigate and a lucid dream leads him to us?

Solas: So many new people today.
Inquisitor: That crazy Seeker woman just threatened to *kill* us.
Solas: To be fair, that dwarven fellow did say she does that to everyone. And she only threatened to kill you.
Inquisitor: Because you pretended to faint!
Solas: I'm not exactly a people person.

Yeah, it looks like she thinks the Inquisitor is to blame for the breach killing everyone around them. That's a possibility but I wonder if Cassandra would actually trust him? Then again, desperation could possibly lead to her giving it a try anyway.

That was Perfect.
edit: Sorry if my post looks a bit different I'm on my IPad now.
WOAH MAN did this thread pick up after everything earlier! I'm glad, there's so much new info to analyze and fawn over. Especially the hand holding....
I wonder though, Solas's outfit in the trailer is REALLY cool but it's not very much like the other ones we've seen him wear. If that scene's when he first meets the Inquisitor, I doubt he was just conveniently in the area. He probably dressed up to go find them and made sure to put on his least explodeable outfit. That or he just wanted to dress to impress with his nice pauldron.
You may also stare at dat Solass, I purposely included it
What's up with his hands though?
They sparkle
He's like a fairy or something

Maybe this confirms Solas likes to party-hearty as that's one large mug/ tankard there.
And I wonder if his wrist thing has something to do with his hedge-mage magic. I haven't seen any of the other mages have it. But it could just be DA:Is form of a wisp.

I read the bolded text without reading your username first, and thought, "...Carpool?" Then I checked. "Yep. Carpool."
I know it probably won't happen, but it would be just great if we could get drunk with Solas (or any of the companions, really, but we're in the Solas thread). Think of the possibilities.
I don't think I've seen the wrist thing in the other mages, either. Do we have close ups of all their hands?
WAILS. This is why I didn't want to SLEEP. TOO MUCH GOODNESS GOING ON.
Just spent like two hours catching up and... w-what? WHAT IS THIS??
... ... ... NOOOOOOOOO.
This has never happened before. I AM DISTRESSED. And I can't possibly reply to everything I missed and now can't like, either. Umm... Scattershot! Go! i hope this doesn't end up giant anyway. D:
Spoiler
HAH! Exactly. That was always annoying, especially if followers gummed up the works further, and you're like, if I could just step over this one thing or hop off this low ledge, the path is RIGHT THERE!!! *possesses follower in the back*
-le snip-
Good! Take care of your flower, ser! We like her too much for her to harm herself with lack of sleep/sustenance!
D'aww, Cat Lance. That made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, heheh. Also this talk of being trapped behind objects and companions reminds me of the worst thing...
Once in KOtOR, I approached Carth in the ship to catch up on dialogue. And like... he stands next to the pilot's seat, right? But I guess I came at him from more of a side angle than from straight ahead... And when the cutscene popped up the camera's randomly chosen angle couldn't accommodate us both. So it TELEPORTED ME. It moved me off to the left and that's all well and good, I guess... except that when I was done and the scene closed, I was suddenly behind him. BEHIND HIM. WEDGED BETWEEN HIM AND THE CHAIR AND THE WALL
And you can't walk through companions. But this was on the Ebon Hawk, so there was no party. I couldn't possess him. I WAS TRAPPED. PINNED. IT WAS TERRIBLE. Tried to click on Bastila, hoping I would be shaken free by the same mechanic, but nope. It initiated the conversation normally even though I was across the room from her. Talking to Carth again was useless because I was essentially PRESSED UP AGAINST HIM so the camera was like, nah, ur good. Don't need to move u lol. And I was stuck like that for like TEN MINUTES. Eventually I managed to wriggle away by repeatedly clicking on the galaxy map so many times that constantly running into him to run towards it managed to like... twitch me free. But it was the ACTUAL WORST THING EVER, and mostly because if I could've just CLIMBED OVER THE DAMN CHAIR I would've been free. It wasn't even a tall chair, either. It came up to, like, her knees. But it was insurmountable. The insurmountable knee-high chair. I still laugh about it all this time later omfg. Like goddamn, Carth. I didn't know you liked Revan THAT much. There are much easier ways to approach her, though, I swear.
And now here we are all this time later with jumping and a whole castle and conversations that aren't instanced. How far we have come. [wipes a tear]
Spoiler
I wonder if Solas plays chess, or whatever analog Thedas has. I suppose it would depend on when Solas started living alone--if he had time to learn that kind of thing.
I just wanna play chess with Solas, guys. Or have him teach my Inquisitor how to play chess.
I AM CLICKING THE THUMB BUTTON BUT NOTHING IS HAPPENING. [weeps]
But yes. This is everything I never knew I needed. DO WANT. (though, what if we could teach him??? o:)
Spoiler
I couldn't help but think about the first time they close a veil tear being a complete failure because Solas blows them up
Beware of horrible drawings and editing

That... is... best.
First of all that Solas is adorable second of all YES.
Curse you, like quotas. WHY ARE YOU A THING.
Spoiler
People are very attached to their Hawkes and Wardens, and are very touchy about how they are treated. Personally, I've come to terms that Ceyrion and Essery are now beyond my reach. All I can do is meta-game the duck out of DAI so that they and their LI's survive.
I CAN'T ACCEPT THAT, THO. You're a stronger person than I for managing, but... I just can't.
And now I'm going to go on about the Warden/Hawke thing since it was talked about and I (quite obviously) feel very strongly about it. Spoiler'd for wall 'o' text.
Spoiler
Like, I mean, okay, I COULD let them go. I guided them through their stories and obviously when it ends I'm not holding their hand anymore. I'm FINE with that. In fact, I took great pains to get them to land exactly where I wanted, so I'm perfectly fine with letting them go there.
BUT NO. Then BioWare just... just SWOOPS down and SNATCHES them? Steals them away from my perfectly engineered ending? NO.
I obviously can't stop them but if they're gonna do that then they have to ******* deal with me. If you're gonna thieve my goddamn character out from under me you damn well better believe that I'm going to scream about it if you don't treat them right. And honestly, if they're not willing to deal with respecting their players... then why even involve them? It's not like it was NECESSARY.
I'm mean, as much as I adore my Wardens (as admitted time and time again), I'm with those of you who said they were fine where they were. That "disappearance" thing was BS. My main canon Warden was Queen of friggin' Ferelden. She had PLENTY to keep her busy and a near-endless myriad of things for her to be doing from that potential. So what if the world's ending? She has her country to look after. No reason for her to be seen. And I know Alistair will be showing up, but so? They're married but it's not like she became glued to him after that. Maybe he's managing resources while she's out leading troops. That's um, kind of a thing she's really good at? And friggin' Hawke ran off to be a fugitive with her fugitive boyfriend. PLENTY of reason to not be seen by anyone. PARTICULARLY anything even remotely associated with the Chantry. Even if the Inquisition itself technically isn't, a lot of the key figures sure as hell are. And again, with something that open-ended, she could be doing any number of things. Ugh.
But no, they just had to pull that ******* "and then they vanished lol" crap. Like OH MY GODS CAN YOU NOT? But they did, so from the moment that was a thing they were going to have to explain it sooner than later. And now that the time has come, I am damn well not just going to go "oh, okay" if they **** it up.
I hope I don't seem like I'm yelling at you (or anyone... except maybe Bioware), Phoenix. Like I said, I admire you for being able to let it go. You're probably better off, aha. But I can't. I have a LOT of intense feelings on this matter because my characters are all extremely personal to me, so... Just my addition to things. Since most of you involved in the conversation that I can't quote all of seemed to be not feeling why people like myself are losing our s*** I felt the need to say something. Iunno. Just my two cents.
Now! To go back to things relating to new characters like Solas so I can be happy instead of angry. COME BACK TO ME, MY LIKES. I NEED YOU FOR THINGSSS. Like getting drunk with Solas. Yes. I second this motion.
It's the gameplay part of the demo but it's HQ and YOU CAN TOTALLY HEAR SOLAS. Aaryn is still talking over him but since it's actually good quality you can still catch a little bit of him if you listen for it! His speech bubble pops at 1:39 but Aaryn's louder there so it's kind of garbled... I think he's saying "there it is"? But at like 1:41 you can clearly hear "we should head to the castle" sooo.
FOUR WHOLE WORDS YEAH!
(Plus the blue robe in HQ! He looks even prettier eeeee... )
edit: also static cage looks AWESOME oh man. reminds me of the Qunari AOEs from 2... and those were always getting me killed if i didn't see them coming and/or stood in them for too long. pretty stoked at the idea of having something like that helping me this time, ahh.
I can't make heads or tails out of what he sounds like. THANKS AARYN. THANKS A BUNCH.
Do you reckon we'll get an upload of it without narration?
Hahah, yeah, I feel a little bad. He's clearly super excited to share with us but we're over here like SHUT UP KTHX.
I can definitely hear him pretty well, but I do have sensitive ears. And it's still only four words, too. Not a whole lot of material to get an overall image of what a conversation would be like. But it does give me an idea of it, which is better than the silence from before, so I'll take it!
I'm not sure what to think about a clean version, though. I certainty HOPE so. And they did do that with the E3 stuff, but... They also re-used that a bunch, too. Maybe since months have passed they'll use this marsh stuff now? And maybe expand upon it? 'Cause it was pretty short comparativly. My hope is that it'll be at PAX, but longer and more on par with the Qunari mage stuff. I mean in that one we had cutscenes with Sera and IB and Dorian so it's like... Again pls? But with Solas and Blackwall and Cole?? Pretty pls? And it wouldn't make sense to go back to the old one now that we've moved forward. But I'm not sure.
Actually, I'm not even sure if they'll be at PAX? I feel like I saw a tweet after ComicCon where they said they'd definitely be at Gamescom but weren't sure yet about PAX... Of course, I can't remember for sure (I probably stopped caring at the word Gamescom because I spent the last three+ weeks utterly fixated on it, lol) and I also would have no idea where to find that again... If it does exist I'm sure it'd be in the Twitter thread but... so many pages...
edit: spacing, pls stop screwing up so much. i like to try my walls of text look as aesthetically inoffensive as possible, okay?
They'll also be at GeekGirlCon, which I'm going to. Since it's a relatively minor con, though, I doubt we'll get any bombshells (and it's still all the way in October anyway).

Ohh, I bet there'll be lots of LadyQuiz stuff though, so that'll be great to see! And ahh, October... So far. And yet farther still is November. But at least it'll be the same season and also offer me things like Halloween, aka the best holiday ever, to be distracted by. It's September I dread... 'Tis a boring month on its own, nvm when I'm dying for Fall, aurgh...

Exactly!
i remember playing dragon age 2 and thinking i wish I could be a qunari mage and use that spell.
And then Mike Laidlaw used his somniari arts, saw my dreams, and totally added it in inquisition.
At least that's my opinion lol
My theory is that after Cassandra finds us she throws us into prison, then Solas (who saw everything while walking the Fade) comes along and tells her he knows how to end this, but he needs the guy/gal she threw in the dungeon to do it. Desperate for a fix she gives you both a chance to close the Breach, and lo and behold, you can. Then everything is set into motion.
I may be wrong, but I think it would explain some things we saw in the trailer.
