I hope we get to fight and kill Solas.

Please put down the pitchforkes and let me explain myself.

I played a human and had positive approval with Solas (which surprised me considering I allied with the Templars, the Wardens and drank from the Well. I guess curiosity pays off) and the feeling I had by the end of the game was two men who respected each other even if they tended to disagree and Solas' final words appeared to be a warning and an apology, as I am sure you know.

Solas has made decisions that fundamentally changed the world twice and caused great suffering. Whatever he plans will probably not be favorable to humans. Therefore, I can't see anything but a confrontation in the future for these two. So, what I am hoping is one last talk where they both acknowledge they both have good reasons for doing what they are doing and apologize for what they feel must be done. Then, a one on one fight with Solas taking the form of a giant wolf.

After he has been mortally wounded and has returned to his elven form, the Inquisitor holds his hand so he knows he is not dying alone.

That is what I want.

But none of this means female Lavellans who romanced him shouldn't have an entirely different outcome.

What, was fighting Sifr in Dark Souls not enough for fans?

I do approve of two characters I like having that, "Sorry, so sorry, but I kinda have to kill you now," exchanges.

If Solas ends up as a boss fight, I can imagine it being something more like Corypheus's in Legacy, with multiple stages and craziness, plus the Dread Wolf and illusions, rather than the typical tank and spank.

Ooor it can end like this... I mean, for Lavellan, in certain scenario, I suppose ;P

I like the way you think. I wish in ME3 you fell in love with the reaper queen and died in each other's arms.

*pops into thread*

wait, people actually keep the architect alive?

I mean, I did on my first playthrough because, well, meta-gaming. He's a fantastic character and I'd love to see him again. But hell, I can quite never justify keeping him alive from an RP point of view.

My warden lets him live. It's in-character for her. She's an optimist, and is rather naive and curious. The Architect was a talking Darkspawn; he had information that could be valuable to her and the other wardens. He'd sent a messenger to warn her of Mother's attack, he seemed to want the best for his 'people'... Overall, he didn't strike her as 'evil', just a being who'd made a mistake which he was trying to fix. (Dubious methods perhaps, but he seemed capable of learning not do do such things.) She figured if he could help control the other Darkspawn, she'd leave him to it.

Whether or not that backfires spectacularly remains to be seen. :P

I'm not going to tell you you're wrong or bad for wanting to fight Solas, because that's certainly a valid possibility. I'll just never understand how people are deciding for absolute sure what Solas did or will do. We know so little about what happened in the past, and we've seen how wrong a lot of that has been. Whatever Solas intends to do is also speculation at best, and while someone probably figured it out in a tumblr post somewhere we have no idea which theory is correct. We have hints, but no real context for what happened with the gods, the orb, or Corypheus. Solas may be guilty as heck in precisely the way you state, but I would be surprised if the story were so simple and straightforward.

This is full of delicious melodrama and I would enjoy it, but I don't think it's a likely ending. Solas will very likely be in DA4 as either the villain or the person who pulls everyone's strings, i.e. the new Flemeth, and DA4 will have a different protagonist.

Of course, you could kill him only for him to come back again, the same way Corypheus comes back after DA2, but I would personally be really annoyed if they keep bringing people back from the dead.

Aw...I wanted to romance young Flemeth, and be the father of her next witch baby.

My best guess would be what he says to a Lavellan who accuses him of not caring about the elves.

That he can't do anything unless he can be rid of the Veil so he can alter reality at will.

Does he actually say he can't do anything unless he can be rid of the Veil?  I thought he said nothing could be done (not specifically himself doing anything) unless something drastically changed (again nothing specific stated).  I could be wrong, I don't completely remember that conversation.

I listened to the conversation again: he does not mention getting rid of the Veil specifically.

Ahh I see.  Hmm.  To be honest he sounds sarcastic rather than serious.  Not to mention what he says afterwards, how the Inquisitor could order the return of Halamshiral to the elves but they know that it would fail.  Sounds like he knows that collapsing the Veil would fail as well.  But ultimately we still don't know what he's planning.

I think he meant it more as snarky "this thing is goddamn complicated and mere ideas won't solve anything (unless the Veil is collapsed and I can literally make my ideas reality!)".

In any case - while I think Solas dreams of the world where there's no Veil, and the Fade and spirits are just another force of nature, lifting it is another thing entirely. We see in Redcliffe what happens if the Veil is simply shattered and Solas calls that world 'an abomination that must never come to pass' - plus, he fights all the way through DAI to stop Corypheus, instead of helping him to tear the Veil down.

Plus, if you talk with him about the the Veil in Haven, he'll try and convince you that it would be great if it didn't exist (and he sounds verrrry enthusiastic about it) - yet, when you actually agree that it might indeed be wonderful, the first thing he says "Wonderful... and dangerous!". So he obviously recognizes the danger of the Veil collapsing and even if it's a distant dream of his, I don't think it's something he actively tries to accomplish, at least at the very moment.

Still, he definitely prepares something that may change the world, even if he's ultimately very conflicted about this. The strongest indicator of it for me is the end of his 'crisis' conversation (with any Inqusitor, including Lavellans, I think), when he says: "I should thank you Inquisitor. I have spent time with a few of your people before this. From the stories I thought you all thuggish, simple and crude. Now? Now I know I was right. You have no idea what comfort that is."

This stopped me in my tracks for like ten minutes. It's so. I just. Ugh. DLC news yet? No? That's fine. No problem. I have other things to think about, haha. Totally.

So here's an off-the-cuff Solas inspired haiku, because it's been a while:

What the **** are you

doing momentarily,

you sexy, bald ****?

(The End.)

Hey is there still some kind of chat page/group/thing where we're all having an awesome, real-tiemz type session? Cuz' I'd be into that about now. Anyone?

It's time for some art! :)

Beautiful Solavellan artwork by nanananananablr. :crying:

"Alright, little halla. I'll play along." Scene from geeky-jez's fic, Ma Halamshiral.

Another fanart from the fic, Keeping Secrets.

Morning stretches part 3 - Interrupted. (Slightly NSFW... Damn, Lavellan gets an interesting view of things.)

"It was not supposed to happen this way." :( (Warning for sads and blood.)

Taken -- Returned -- Broken.

Solas and Lavellan done for an OTP challenge.

Where did you get those scars? (Ouch!)

Too Deep in Dread Wolf Hell.

Mages Who Left Me. (Morrigan, Anders, and Solas.)

It was an intriguing thing to strike a deal with him, so mine kept him alive. There was a threat to take care of, and he was different.

I tend to leave those who aren´t an active threat alive, I seldom kill when the other doesn´t want a fight (there are exceptions, such as the cannibal in Witcher 1, who is obviously going to keep killing). The Architect could talk with Solas about how things that seemed a good idea end very badly though. Wonder if he´s also one of the original magisters, he thinks himself a random DS offshot, but he could have forgotten.

And the elven gods are reminding me a lot of the Tribunal from Morrowind now.

I was trying to take a break from Solas heartbreak by playing Sims and what happens?  I read the description of an item called "Dreaded Dresser" and what does it say?

Store your clothes in such a safe place that not even the Dread Wolf can find them!

....I wouldn't surprised if it WASN'T a coincidence. Botch franchises belong to EA after all. Dunno about Sims references in DA, but we know that there Plants vs. Zombies mentioned in DAI, and PvZ belongs to EA as well ;P
