Hi, I have been following this tread for some time now and decided to join in!
I got Dragon Age Inquisition for Christmass last year and since then I am a complete fan of the dragon age series. I even got DA origins and II to understand how past events could change stuff in DAI. Yes, I feel like a complete nerd, but well, at least I enjoy it.
Obviously, my favorite character is Solas. I cannot romance a different character anymore. I'm wondering though, have other people also seen the 'news' on the official website (http://www.dragonage.com/en_US/news)? Seem to me they are hinting for a DLC in the deep roads. I wonder, if Solas would play a part in that, what would he do?

Welcome!
Yes, apparently there should be DLC any minute now! haha Or so we have been saying for the last month or so.
Hey Welcome Katerina :)Hugs:)
Welcome Katerina! ![]()
Hello there, Katerina! ![]()

Welcome Katerina!
Yes there seems to be hints about a possible deep roads related DLC. Although if hints about a Qunari related DLC are also true (according to that survey), then I hope this means we are getting 2 more story DLCs before they are done. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll finally hear some news soon.
In the meantime I started a new playthrough. I'm up to the part with Solas where he pulls the Quizzy aside to tell them about the orb. He says that with the orb, Corypheus "threatens the heart of human faith" and I was wondering what you all suppose he means by that? I'm sure this has probably been discussed already. But why would an elven artifact threaten the "heart of human faith"? Who/what is the "heart" of human faith? Or is he just being figurative, since Cory wants to raise the imperium and become a god, which would mean an end to the Andrastian faith? If that is true, it says a lot about Solas (who presumably wants to restore the Elven empire), that he wants to preserve the Andrastian faith actually (unless he's just being misleading there). The more I think I understand his motives the more I don't!
My interpretation was that the elven orb has some aspect of it that would probably completely contradict the chantry teachings in some way. Something that would really shake the foundations of what they stand for. I'm guessing Solas thinks the fallout from that would be too great.

I haven't really thought about it but I suppose he could mean that the orb has the power to allow someone enter the Fade, the place Andrastrians believe their god lives, and take possession of his Black City.
And it's in the hands of one of the magisters who are the villains of that faith.

I believe the "heart of human faith" Solas is referring to is belief in an existing Maker. Corypheus threatens that belief in two ways: first, his claim that the Maker's throne was empty- that there is no Maker, and possibly there never was. The second is his ultimate aim, which is to assume the role of this missing Maker- to become a being of sufficient power to shape the world at his whim, exalting his chosen and punishing his enemies.
The reason Corypheus' goals require an elvhen artifact is simply that the orb offers a shortcut to the Black/Golden City, the symbolic (and possibly literal) seat of the Maker's power. He doesn't command the resources he and other other magisters originally used to breach the City - thousands of slaves and a truly absurd amount of lyrium - so the orb is the only option left.

Thanks for all the welcomes! It really seems like a nice place to hang out
.
Does Solas say "threatens the heart of human faith" for every inquisitor, or only elves? For I interpreted as, since the orb is elven and the inquisitor is elven, people could feel 'threatened' if they found out.
I am also wondering how a deep road DLC could possible be related to any plans that Solas has. Maybe something about the archdemons? I really need to do some more background reading on this stuff
Yeah by moving on to other fandoms. Have you've heard of lord and savior geralt of rivia?
I haven't picked up a single new game (although I have picked up a couple of bargain priced old ones) because of a self imposed gaming ban until I sort my life out. But I'm looking to pick up TW3 next month as a treat for doing well at one of my life-sorting goals. So yes to our lord and savior!
Although I finished the second game at the weekend (one of my bargain pick ups. Can't argue with £2) and was disappointed to find that Saskia and Iorveth don't have a role in the the 3rd. Boo. I liked them a lot so I sided with them. Internet forums tell me that was the illogical choice. SCREW YER LOGIC.
Still, looking forward to actually having a shiny new game to play. I shall spend many hours yelling at the horse. That's the only feedback I remember reading for TW3.
Hello old faces popping up. I missed all the chaos when that happened. I can't remember how. Was I on holiday? I was probably on holiday. I seem to remember not being here and then coming back and being confused.

The DA twitter is killing me with their hints. Deep roads, dwarves and now one about Sigrun. If you give me Sigrun in a DLC set in the deep roads... Oh my days. I hate the freaking Deep Roads but I love Sigrun. So I will be a mix of so happy and frustrated at the same time.
I will also compile my team of people who will hate the Deep Roads the most. Just like in DA2 where I brought Anders EVERY.DAMN.TIME.
Suck it Anders. You can't stop being a Warden. Not on my watch.
So I'm just going to throw out an idea. Solas the werewolf, sounds cool right?
I don't think it's that direct, but the increasingly crazy theory-mongering part of my brain agrees that there may be something to this. It's at least suspicious in light of how tightly Ferelden is linked to wolf/werewolf mythology. If we assume kossith/Qunari were the result of attempting to infuse humanoids with the blood and will of one of the Old Gods, then it seems to follow that... werewolves....
So I'm just going to throw out an idea. Solas the werewolf, sounds cool right?
I'm guessing wolf shapeshifter. Each of the gods were and each had a prefered form. Mythal=dragon, Fen'Harel=Wolf, Falon'Din=Owl, Dirthamen=Bear, Andruil=Hawk, Ghilan'nain = halla, Sylaise = ?, and June = toad ?
Also, Mythal and Elgar'nan were the same being. Bioware set up the justice/vengance thing too much in DA2 for them not to be.

It is also funny that each of these animal turn up as blighted animals in the Wolrd of Thedas.

Interesting. I don't think I have come across a blighted toad though.
Edit: On second thought, yes I have
It only happens when we get to see Thedas' second moon. Which is never.
But if Thedas has a second moon that only rotates once every thousand years, and we haven't seen it because it rest on the other side of the planet or it is in the fade.
